Alpha and Omega

“You can make one Skype call,” said Val, “Don’t try anything funny. It can’t be traced.”
“Can I choose who I talk to, or are you gonna pick for me?” Matt asked.
“If you mean you want to talk to that faggot,” said Val, “then fine.”

Brain was on his laptop, scrolled through pictures. Then his Skype was ringing, saying ‘Unknown.’ Brian was hesitant at first, but then clicks answer.
“Hey Baby.”
Brian didn’t recognize at first but it clicked, “Mattie?” Tears filled his eyes.
“Hey Bri,” Matt said, about to cry as well.
Brian raised an eyebrow, “How can you…?”
“I got one call,” Matt explained, “It’s almost like prison on Seize The Day music video except for a few things.”
Brian knew what that meant 1) This is real and 2) they WISHED Val was dead.
“Nice hair,” Brian said with a slight chuckle.
“I know,” said Matt, “I know you like the curls.”
“I still love you anyway,” Brian said with a slight smile.
“I love you too,” Matt replied, “I like your hair that way.”
“I know,” said Brian, “I’ll keep it this way for you… something to pull on what you get back.” Brian finished the statement with a wink.
Matt chuckled.
“Speaking of which…” Brian began to speak.
“What’s up Babe?” Matt asked, curious to know what was on his husband’s mind.
“Leana had the baby,” said Brian, “Roxanne… she’s beautiful.”
Matt smiled, “Tell them I say congrats.”
“I will,” Brian replied, “I got to hold her… and…”
“Brian,” said Matt, “You know you can tell me anything.”
Brian nodded as he gulped down the lump of nervousness in his throat, “When you come home… I want us to have kids.”
Matt was shocked, “But I thought you-”
“I changed my mind,” said Brian, “Just holding Jimmy and Leana’s kid… made me think that us having kids would be great.”
“I would love to have kids with you,” Matt replied.
A tear slid down Brian’s cheek as a crooked smile formed on his face, “I miss you so much.”
Matt couldn’t help but start to cry as well, “I miss you too… very much.”
“Time’s up,” said a voice.
Brian held a hand out to the screen. Matt pressed his hand to the screen too.
“I love you… always,” Brian said, his voice breaking.
“I always love you too,” Matt replied.
Then, the call ended.
Once the Skype screen went blank, Brian let go and the tears come hard. He cried so hard and loud, it made Leana come into the room.
“Brian, what’s wrong?” Leana asked as she sat down next to him on the couch, her infant in her arms.
“They let Matt Skype call me,” Brian said between sobs.
He felt a small hand on his bicep.
He looked to see Roxanne holding her hands out to him.
“She wants you to hold her,” said Leana.
“I’d love to,” Brian said as he held out his arms.
He held Roxanne to his chest. She took her hand and wiped his cheek.
“Thanks Roxanne,” Brian said calmly.
Roxanne giggled as she hugged her Uncle Brian.

It fueled Brian’s determination to find Matt and bring his home.
