Am I too Lost to be Saved?

I Hope it isn't too Bold to Say, but...

I looked down at me oatmeal and pouted. This shit was nothing like what they served at the diner. Even though I followed the recipe that Suzy sent me... but that's not the point! I'm in a funk, so I can't do anything right, and it's been like a week and a half since Meggers and I have been back to the diner other than to get our weekly gallon of sweet tea. Man do I love Suzy's sweet tea!

Suzy's been doing fine from what I heard, she calls just about every day to check up on my sister and I and my little quackster in my belly. If it isn't Suzy calling, it's Don, and from the sound of it, he still isn't too happy with the little episode at the diner last week. Meghan's been saying that every time he calls her he says something along the lines of, "and those damn boys keep coming over here. Why don't they just... blah, blah, blah..." That couple would never cease to amaze me. They were so apart of my family, I don't know what I'd do without them.

But today, the call was a little later than usual. Suzy called sounding a bit wound up, and I just couldn't help but laugh at her. When I asked what was going on, she went on, and on about Johnny and loud, blue eyed guy named Jimmy. "Oh sweet girl, they've been coming around pretty frequently. He comes every time with somebody different, but mostly with that loud one. I never said anything before 'cause I didn't want to go and upset you," she had told me.

Apparently today's visit from the boys was different. This time, as opposed to sitting at the table quietly, Jimmy clapped his hands in the air yelling, "Service?! Service," in a high pitched voice until Don came, only to embarrass poor Johnny further by ordering a plate of "Really Gorgeous Strawberry Waffle Girl, with extra strawberries" (whilst rubbing his belly where my ducky would happen to be growing) and a side of "Her Really Hot Sister." Suzy says Don's blood was boiling and responded with , "You can order somethin' off the menu, or get your skinny asses the fuck out."

'Quote of the day,' I thought, as she went on. That wasn't what was on my mind at the moment though. This morning Meghan got a rather interesting call, I mean, it had to be interesting if it interrupted "Space Jam"! No matter what I tried to think, it was probably one of her weirdo, swaggy friends, I just couldn't convince myself. The look on her face just didn't do my thoughts any justice.

Just as soon as I hung up with Suzy, Meghan came back down the stairs with a funny look on her face and went straight to the door to lock it. Weird, we never lock the door during the day unless we were out...

"Hey," I told her, keeping my eyes on the screen. Maybe she got a news alert on her phone and was being cautious?

"Hey," she said quietly. She plopped down on the couch next to me and started to take small glances my way. Not too obvious, but obvious enough for me to notice out of my peripheral vision.

"What?" I was starting to get irritated. This girl, man! UGH!

Meghan looked down to her feet, and started wiggling her toes. "Do you have to go to work today," she mumbled.

I rolled my eyes. "Yes Meghan. I have to go to work today. Just like all the other days I had to go to work. Why? Did you want to do something?"

Meghan's head shot up, and her big smile caught my attention. "YES!!" She jumped up suddenly and almost knocked me over. "Let's go, fatty! We're going to the beach bitch!" She started dancing up the stairs, so I followed her up to go to my room so that I could pack my work bag with some clothes change into, and put some shorts to swim in. After all that, I went to Meghan's room where she was strutting around half naked with the door wide open.

"What the fuck, Meghan," I screamed. "You have the motherfucking window wide fucking open you assbutt!"

She spun around and I covered my eyes so that I wouldn't see her boobs. "Well yelling isn't to help, you stupid shit," she bit. "Assbutt? Where the fuck did you pull that one from?" Meghan stood there laughing, ignoring that cat calls coming from outside our apartment.

"I don't know! It just came out," I cried out. "Now can you please put a top on? That whistling and shit is making me really uncomfortable dude."

That was all it took for her to quickly throw on her bikini. "Hey," she said, grabbing my wrist and moving it from my face. "Don't worry about it. Nothing's gonna happen, okay? We can just wait for him to leave if you want."

I shook my head. "No, it's alright," I told her. "I just don't want anything to happen..."

Meghan smiled. "Trust me Anna. Nobody can handle all this. HAHAHA!" I rolled my eyes at her, and put my hands on my belly when my stomach growled. "Whoa," I laughed. "What are we gonna do for food?" We usually go to Suzy's, but Don didn't really want me to show up until "the coast was clear". Silly, right?

"Oh, I called my Suzy love earlier and she said would fix us up some cold cuts and a couple peanut butter sundaes," Meghan's smirk turned into a triumphant smile.

"Oh my gosh," I yelled. "You little plotter! It's perfect! Let's get the fuck out of here then! Shit!" I bounced down the stairs, (carefully of course) and pulled Meghan out the door, then we were on our way to the diner, laughing at a few people who were out advertising for the small business stores along the streets.

Once we were there, we sat in the car for a second. "Well, do you want to g-" Meghan stopped mid-sentence and started feeling around her seat. "Son of a fart smelling bitch! I fucking left my phone at the apartment!" She turned to me with a look of apology, "You mind waiting there real quick? I was gonna order some juice anyway."

I smiled at her. There was always something she forgot somewhere. "Of course, silly. I don't mind."

She breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay," She said as I climbed out of the car. "Don't talk to anyone! Got it?" I rolled my eyes for what seemed like the 40th time that day and nodded my head before turning to walk into the diner. Almost instantly, I caught Suzy's eye.

Suzy smiled and scurried over to hug me tightly. "Aw, how're my babies," she squealed. "I know I was talking to you earlier, but I missed you!"

I laughed, "We're good Suzy love. Just hungry, like always of course." Suzy giggled and yelled to her husband. "Don! Get the girls' ice chest in the back. I loaded her up!"

"No problem baby doll," he yelled back. I smiled at her, and we made some small talk before Don came out with the little ice chest. I reached out to grab it and whined when he pulled it from my reach. Just as he opened his mouth to scold me, the bell rang. I pointed at Don, ready to pout to Meghan, but turned to meet the soft, apologetic gazes of two of the men that were at the diner last week.

Instead of going to sit down, they came straight to us. "Good afternoon," the guy with the pretty green eyes said to us. "Uhm, we kind of wanted to apologize to you both for our friend this morning. He's a little... nuts... heh, heh." He rubbed the back of his neck, looking a little embarrassed. The other man with spikey hair looked over to me, and once I met his gaze a small smile graced his thin lips. I smiled back at him and looked down, still feeling ashamed about our last incident.

"And about last week as well," he said, startling me. I looked at him, confused, then looked over to Suzy and Don. The spikey haired guy cleared his throat and I looked back to him. "Uh, we just didn't pay attention to, you know."

Green Eyes turned a little to look at me, "Y-yeah, that t-too." His stutter almost made me blush. "There isn't anything to be ashamed of at all. We're all sorry about that reaction..."

I smiled at Don and Suzy, who were looking at the two men with surprise clear on their faces. "It's nothing I'm not used to guys," I said to them, a bit confused when their faces fell. "Everything's alright, I mean. Don't worry about it." Meghan walked in during Green Eyes' apology and was standing next to me while I continued to speak. "Thank you," I said , my cheeks heating up a bit.

"It's no problem at all," the spikey haired man held his hand out to me. "My name's Brian, this is Zack-"

"Or Zacky," he said quickly, interrupting Brian. "W-whichever you prefer." He and Brian exchanged looks and laughed.

I looked to Meghan, and she smiled at me. I took Brian's hand, then Zacky's, and introduced them to my sister and Don and Suzy.

We left shortly after the two men apologized again, and Meghan gushed over how absolutely sweet they were while we were at the beach. I couldn't stop laughing at her face when I told her about how Jimmy asked Don for us this morning. She almost spit out her spoonful of sundae, and had a coughing fit before loosing it entirely. "I cannot believe he said that!"

"Oh yeah, it must have pissed Don off pretty bad for them to have come and apologized," I laughed.

"Ah well," Meghan sighed. I stared at her as she put her trash down next her. "Anna, mom and dad called..."

I- what? "W-w-why?" Did I hear her right? "What the hell did they want?"

Meghan put her hands up and looked into my eyes, "Nothing hun. They just wanted to know how you were doing. Nothing bad or anything like that. Just to check up on us and all."

I gave her a dirty look. The reason Meghan and I had moved out of the house was because when we found out that I was pregnant, my parents started pushing for an abortion. That. Was. NOT happening. Meghan supported me, and argued with them both for days while I stayed locked in the bathroom, in pieces.

"Why do you have their number, Meghan," I yelled. "Why do they have yours?!"

Meghan was on the verge of tears. "I-I had been talking to them..." Her voice was almost a whisper. I hated seeing her like this, but I just couldn't sit here anymore. "Look, I'm sorry, okay?" Meghan grabbed my hand to turn me to her. "I fucking miss them, and I know you do too! Yeah they still have ugly shit to say, but they're our REAL parents! Suzy and Don have done so fucking much for us, but mom and dad are still mom and dad, Anna."

"I know," I said. Here come the stupid tears again. "I just..." I looked up to Meghan's tear streaked face, and I couldn't go on. "I needa get to work sissy," I said quietly. I walked off the beach and passed the parking lot with Meghan hot on my heels. "I'll walk, okay? I'll get a ride home after too." Meghan slumped her shoulders and nodded. "Alright. Just be careful, okay?" Her voice cracked and I just about lost it. But I kept walking until I reached the little convenience store I worked at.

The manager huffed and brushed passed me. "Are you always on time," she mumbled.

I sighed, "Good day to you too Jess." I was not in the mood for this. Ever since my 'incident', Jess had been really cold to me. She told people that I had made everything up and that I only did it because I was jealous of her cousin and her boyfriend. Jess had been the one to invite me to the party...

The evening couldn't go by any slower and just about the entire time I was there, Jess had something real fucking stupid to say. I was just about to ring up a man with snacks for his kids and wife who were waiting outside, when Jess pushed me belly first into a counter. The man on the other side of the counter opened his mouth to say something to her, but I was faster.

"What the actual fuck, Jess? Are fucking retarded," I yelled. Jessica turned around, anger on her face, clear as day. "Excuse me, bitch?"

"Yeah, that's what you should have said, you stupid twat," I went up to her face. "And just because I'm stuck like this doesn't mean I'm afraid of your skanky ass. You've been talking shit all fucking night long, and I am so fucking tired of it. Say. Something. Else..."

Jessica's eyes widened an she took a step back. I smirked at her, "That's what I fucking thought. Fucking bullshit man. I'm leaving. Fuck you and this stupid Goddamn store."

And with that I walked out. The man that stood at the counter ran to his wife at the window of his truck, then ran over to me and offered me a ride to where ever I needed to go, which I gladly accepted. My feet were swollen as fuck, and I am soooooo HUNGRY!

"Don't worry about all that shit, kiddo," the man said, while his wife nodded at me. They'd driven me to the diner even though they insisted that they take me home. It was people like this that made me hold strong to faith. I thanked the man and his wife and waved to their sweet kids which was kind of pointless since they’d fallen asleep along the way.

“Thank you so much for the ride over, I really appreciate it,” I said as they drove off, and stood there as they waved. Once I knew they’d gone too far to see my face, I let the tears fall. Oh my gosh, how could so much go so wrong on one of the most perfect of days?! And why? Everything was great… I need to get out of this stupid funk. I need to see Meghan. Ugh, well, I’m here so I might as well go inside to eat. Maybe I should get something for her too. She’d like that.

I wiped my face and put on a smile since I could already see Suzy through the window. ‘Okay, it’s all going to be alright,” I told myself. But once I walked through that door, Suzy looked up and already knew that wasn't the case. She gave me that look, and I could already feel my lower lip tremble through the fake smile. Damn it! Suzy asked one of the waitresses to take over and pulled me over to the bar.

“Don, honey,” She called out. “Can you come over here and start making a shake for my girl over here babe?”

And quicker than I ever thought the old man could even move, he was already front and center working on one of my favorites, eyes set on my face and I sighed heavily but no one said anything. As though they were waiting for me to burst. Maybe that’s how I looked. Like I was about to burst. I certainly did feel like it.

Finally Don broke the silence between us, "What's the matter baby girl?" I looked up at them, and chewed my lip before answering.

"Meghan got a call from our parents. She said that they were checking up on us and I yelled at her," I paused, and looked at their faces before continuing. "Then, I took off to work walking since I ruined my day with Meghan and pretty much my entire shift I had to deal with stupid fucking Jessica and her bullshit." I couldn't keep the tears from falling at this point, so to Hell with it. I just let them fall. "Long story short, I quit my stupid fucking job at that stupid fucking store, and now, on top of not having any money, I have no job AND no money!"

Don and Suzy looked at each other and chuckled a bit. "It's about damn time you quit that place," Don exclaimed. "Now you can come n' work here and Suzy will get you all nice and chubby the way we like ya'!"

I started laughing, and boy did it feel good. I wiped my eyes and blew my nose on the napkin that Suzy handed me. "Don't you worry bumble bee. Everything will be alright," she told me before going to attend to some customers.

Don slid the large strawberry and banana milk shake in front of me and said, " Whenever you're ready, you come on over and we'll get you set up with a nice little job, baby girl. We got you covered." He winked then turned around and continued with his work.

I sat there alone for a while, running a bunch of different ways to say sorry to my sister when I got home later tonight when suddenly-

"I hope it isn't too bold to say, but I think you're really pretty. Even though every time I see you, you seem to be really sad." I turned slowly to see Johnny standing beside me, staring at me shyly.

"You mind if I join you? I might smell just a bit. I just finished a cigarette outside."

@MeRi

The new house is nice. Just really far away from my friends and family. The neighborhood is good too, but I really don't know anyone, and I'm in a completely different town. I'm sure I'll get used to everything sooner or later:)
Thanks for asking ladies!♡
