Fake Reflection

Kimmie held back her smile when she seen Shane in the security booth with Dan. They both were hired. They got their e-mails with everything they needed know, along with an address, the next day. They had to write all the information down, the e-mail was programmed to completely erase itself once they closed it. Today was the first day. He had to be there an hour earlier than her to learn how they handle arrivals. “Name?” he questioned, holding back his own smile. It wasn’t hard. They were trained officers that knew how to handle their emotions. “Jena Richards.” she replied letting a friendly smile grace her lips. “She’s the other housekeeper.” Dan told him. Shane scanned the list of daily arrivals, and hit the green button for the gate when he found it. Kimmie pulled forward, and Shane smirked at Dan, “She was hot,” he said as Dan let out a small chuckle. “Yea, but there’s a strict no fraternizing policy.” Dan told him. “That’s shitty.” Shane said with a slight frown as Dan gave him a sympathetic smile and nod.

“So how long you been head of security?” Shane asked getting as comfortable as he could in a metal chair. “A few years,” Dan replied sitting next to him, “Cam and I were trained EMTs for Christ‘s hospital-,” Shane cut him off, “Christ owns a hospital?” Dan nodded, and continued, “When they started getting bigger they needed some extra protection, so Shadz asked us to come work security. We‘ve known them for years, and he trusts us. It‘s worked out better than he thought because now he has trained EMTs with him, and a genius doctor.” he finished with a smirk. “Is he really a genius?” Shane asked genuinely curious. The guy didn’t strike him as a genius when he was getting his physical done, just a normal doctor….kind of. Looks can be deceiving. “Oh hell yea dude, him and The Rev, but The Rev’s isn’t like book genius, like Christ. He’s got a way with computers, and technology. He designed the entire home security, and defense.” he paused and let out a small chuckle, “No one’s getting in here if they don’t want them too.“ he said with a proud smile. “Then what do they need us for?” Shane asked with slight amusement. “We’re like the Secret Service.” Dan told him. “But he’s not the President.” Shane pointed out. “Nah,” Dan started with a shake of his head, “He’s bigger than that.”

Kimmie parked behind a small red car on the circle drive, and climbed out. For the first day, she was surprisingly calm. She walked up the steps, and through the front door. She recognized Evelyn from her interview, but the brunette girl next to her was new. “Good morning.” Evelyn greeted her with a smile. “This is Emily, she’s starting with you.” she said introducing the other girl. She was petite, about 5’5, with a pair of beautiful green eyes. “Hi, Jena.” Kimmie said shaking the girls hand. “Nice to meet you.” Emily said returning her hand shake. “Well this way ladies,” Evelyn said motioning them to follow her. They walked to the right, and through a doorway. When Kimmie was first here, she thought there was just a room with instruments in it over here, but there was a hall behind the wall.

They didn’t walk very far down before everything opened up, and the first room they came to was the kitchen, and it was a disaster. “Oh my God what happened in here?” Kimmie asked looking around. Evelyn let out a small laugh, “Master Rev, and Madam Syndy.” she said with a shake of her head. “They have a tendency to get into food fights.” She told them as she handed them buckets of cleaning supplies. “Awesome.” Kimmie said with a sarcastic smile. “Do we have to call them that?” Emily asked as she wiped scrambled egg off the counter into her bucket. “No. I’m just old fashioned dear,” Evelyn said with a smile, “I use to work for Syndy’s dad and his friends, and that‘s just how I always addressed them. They’ve told me I don’t have to, but old habits die hard.” She explained as she wiped off the island.

A little girl’s laughter caught their attention, and a blonde blur whizzed past the kitchen. “I’M GOING TO GET YOU ROSEY POSEY!!” they heard the voice of Jimmy as he chased after her, his hands in the air. “HEAR COMES THE TICKLE MONSTER!” he roared. Lilly let out a high pitched laugh as she rounded the corner, with Jimmy hot on her tail. The ladies watched, not being able to hold in their smiles and chuckles as the two disappeared around the corner. “Did you guys see a tall guy run through here chasing a little girl?” Tammy’s voice came from behind them. The women turned to look at her. “Yea,” Kimmie said with a smile, “They went went that way.” she said motioning past the kitchen. “Thanks,” Tammy said as she started past. She stopped, and looked at Emily with a curious smile, “New look?” she asked, tilting her head a little as she studied the girl. “Yea,” she said with a nervous smile, “New job, new life, why not.” she said running her fingers through her hair. Tammy gave her a friendly smile, “Looks good, brings out your eyes.” she said before Lilly’s hysterical laughter caught her attention. “Gotta go save my daughter.” she said with a chuckle before jogging to the sound of the laughter.

Kimmie let out a chuckle, and crouched down to clean up breakfast off the floor. “Is it always like this around here?” she asked. “More often than not I’m afraid.” Evelyn told her with a smile. She didn’t mind the antics that went on around the house. It made for good entertainment during the day. “They’ll keep you on your toes,” she said cleaning the food off the refrigerator, “You need to watch out for Master Rev,” she said with a chuckle, “He likes to mess with people, and no one is off limits.” Evelyn finished. “No one but you, right Evelyn?” Kimmie heard a deep voice behind her. She stood from the floor, and turned to the person that just entered the room. Her breath caught for a moment when she came face to face with the dimpled smile of Shadows. He was defiantly more attractive in person, and it took her a moment to compose herself. “Oh Master Shadows you know that’s his choice not mine.” Evelyn told him with a smile. Matt’s smile got wider, and Kimmie took in his honey hazel eyes. God they were beautiful. Get a grip, she mentally scowled herself. “Excuse me ladies, I just came for a refill.” he said holding up his empty coffee cup as he carefully made his way to the coffee machine on the counter.

Kimmie could almost feel the power, and dominance radiate off the man as he casually strolled past her. He just screamed obey me. “Sorry about the mess on your first day.” Matt said as he filled his cup. Kimmie snapped out of her daze when he turned to face them. “It’s alright,” she told him with a smile, “I just hope you wouldn’t make Evelyn clean it up by herself if we weren’t here.” she playfully scowled him. He smirked at her, “Of course not,” he said taking a step away from the counter, “I usually make those two help.” he said, referring to Jimmy and Tammy. He never really had to make them. They were always willing to help. They did make the mess after all. “Good to know.” she said. “Jena is it?” he asked her with a curious smile, and a cocked brow. “Yes.” she said holding out her hand. He took it with a smile.

His hand shake was strong, and his hand practically engulfed hers. For a moment she could help but picture those strong hands as they roamed hungrily over her body. Kimmie shook her head of these thoughts. She was here to do a job. “Emily?” Matt asked turning his attention to the other girl. “Yes.” she said shaking his hand as well. Kimmie noticed the same curious smile on his face that Tammy had as he looked over the girl. She felt a small ping of jealousy as he checked out the other girl. He didn’t look at her like that. Wait why was she feeling jealous? Job, Kimmie, she reminded herself. “Well I’m Shadows.” he said after dropping Emily’s hand. “Ah the boss man.” Kimmie said with a grin, even though she already knew. “Yea.” he said with a slight chuckle returning her smile. “It’s nice to meet you ladies,” he paused and smirked, “I’ll let you get back to it.” he said glancing around before leaving, a smile plastered on his face.

Kimmie’s first impressions were not what she was expecting. She was expecting cold, hard, not warm and friendly. It was all really confusing. The way Kevin talked about them was the total opposite of what they showed. That didn’t mean she was going to let it throw her off her game. Everyone shows their true colors eventually.

Kevin sat at his desk glaring at the file in front of him. Shadows file. He got word the other day that Shane and Kimmie were in. It was only a matter of time now before he had what he needed to bring them down. The thick silence in is office was broken when his desk phone started to ring. “McNicholes.” he answered slightly annoyed. “Are you in yet.” a voice came through the other line. Kevin knew exactly who it was. “Yes.” he replied looking back down at Matt’s arrest record. “Good. Find whatever you can to connect them to the Drug Cartel.” the man ordered. “I’m working on it.” he said pinching the bridge of his nose. “Well I suggest if you want my support by the next election, you work faster,” the man spat, “You know the deal. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.” he finished before the line went dead.

Okay that should be the last of the character intros and back stories....for now anyway.
Skipping ahead about a month the next chapter. Things are going to pick up promise :)
