Fake Reflection

Chapter 21

The thunderstorm outside was strong. Lightning lit up the night sky as five men sat in their living room. Half eaten pizza boxes lay open on the coffee table while some action movie was playing on the tv. The men were quiet as they ate, not really paying attention to the movie on the screen. Ivan kept glancing at his phone he had held tightly in his hand. It’s been three days since he has heard from Emily. He tossed his phone on to the coffee table with a frustrated huff. “Still no word?” Zoltan asked. “No.” Ivan said eye balling his phone. “Probably dead. Told you she couldn’t do it.” Jason said not looking away from the tv, ignoring Ivan’s glare.

Ivan didn’t say anything. He was probably right anyway. Not that Ian cared. Saved him the trouble of having to do it later. He was going to miss that sweet piece of ass though. “You don’t think she told them do you?” Jeremy asked a hint of fear in his voice. “I’m sure they would have done something by now if she did.” Ivan assured him. “So what do you want to do now?” Zoltan questioned. Ivan closed his eyes, and rubbed his forehead feeling a migraine coming on. He would have to come up with something else. “We need to hit them soon,” Ivan started, “Emily said they have minimal security on the weekends. I say we hit them then when they least expect it. No survivors.” he finished low.

Chris tore his gaze from the tv, and looked at Ivan with shocked and confused eyes. “What about the little girl?” he asked. “What about her?” Ivan questioned anger flaring, “No fucking survivors!” he snapped. “You can’t fucking do that man.” Chris said, getting tired of his leader. “I can do whatever the fuck I want!” Ivan hissed. “This is bullshit!” Chris snapped jolting from his chair, “You can’t kill a fucking child.” he said getting in Ivan’s face when he stood too. The men glared at each other, their noses almost touching. “I can, and I fucking will,” Ivan seethed, “And you’ll shut the fuck up, and do what you’re told.” he said. “You’re going to get us all killed. Did you forget that we’re guilty by association?” Chris questioned, not backing down from his leader. “Oh fucking well. That’s what you signed up for. You’re marked for life. Fucking deal with it.” Ivan said. “I didn’t sign up for this shit.” Chris muttered, walking past Ivan, bumping him hard with his shoulder.

Chris stormed down the hall to his room, and slammed the door. He didn’t want any part of this at all. All he wanted to do was have some fun making money with his friends. He didn’t understand why Ivan couldn’t just leave them be, and follow the rules. They weren’t that hard. Ivan’s arrogant, stubborn, ego was going to get them all killed. Chris plopped down on his bed, resting his arm across his eyes. What the hell was he going to do? He couldn’t let Ivan kill the girl. It wasn’t right, but what could he do? Chris got up, and looked through a bunch of papers scattered across the top of his dresser until he found what he was looking for. The rules. There had to be something in there that could help. He flipped through the four pages of rules, getting more, and more frustrated until he read the last one.

Be careful who you allow to join, and who you choose to follow. Everyone will be held accountable for one’s actions. Once marked, you are there and bound for life. Any form of mutiny, treachery, or betrayal of your leader/gang is punishable by death.

Chris huffed and shook his head. He couldn’t even warn them without dying. He knew there was no way they could take on Avenged Sevenfold. They’re bigger, stronger, smarter, and obviously in charge for a reason. He was dead either way. Chris sat back down on his bed, and put his head in his hands. He heard a knock on his door, and looked up when Zoltan poked his head in. “You alright man?” he asked coming in, and closing the door. “No I’m not fucking alright.” Chris snapped. “He want to kill a fucking child. How can you be okay with that?” he asked standing up from his bed. “I didn’t say I was, but it he want to then that’s on him.” Zoltan said. “Bullshit! We’re just as guilty for letting him.” Chris argued. “What do you want me to do? His mind is made up, and he’s too stubborn to change it.” Zoltan said. He wasn’t exactly cool with the idea either, but what choice did he have? “He’s our leader, and we have to follow him.” he told Chris. “Doesn’t make it right.” Chris grumbled sitting back down. “No, it doesn’t.” Zoltan said leaving the man alone. He’ll come around eventually.

Chris sighed. How can they just follow orders against morals? He’s never been more angry, and disappointed with his friends than he was now. Chris slammed his fists down on his bed before standing abruptly. He snatched his coat off a chair, and threw it on. He grabbed his keys, and phone from the nightstand, and put them in his pocket. He knew what he had to do. Even if it did get him killed. He stormed out of his room, through the living room, and to the front door. “Where the fuck are you going?” Ivan asked glaring at him. “Out.” Chris said slamming the door behind him. He held his coat closed around him as he ran through the pouring rain to his car. He climbed in, shaking his head of the water, and started the vehicle. He peeled out of the driveway, and set out on the road. It was late, and he knew he would probably have to wake them, but they needed to know.

Chris pulled up to the gate, and got out. “What do you want?” Dan asked working night booth duty. “I need to talk to Shadows.” Chris said over the storm. “Come back tomorrow.” Dan told him. Chris shook his head. “It’s an emergency.” he said. “I don’t care come back tomorrow.” Dan repeated. “Look damn it,” Chris said getting frustrated, “I have to see him. Tell him Chris from Five Finger Death Punch is here. He’ll see me.” He was sure of it. He didn’t believe for one second Emily was dead, and had a feeling they already knew. With all their rules protecting the people, there was no way they killed her. The look Dan gave him upon hearing the name of the gang only confirmed his suspicions. “Alright man,” Dan said pulling out his phone, “It’s your funeral.” he finished putting the phone to his ear.

Matt let out a groan, and clicked on his bedside lamp at the sound of his phone. “What is it?” he answered seeing Dan’s name on the screen. Kimmie rubbed her eyes, and rolled over, sitting up suddenly when Matt started to hurriedly put his clothes on. “What the fuck is he doing here?” she heard him snap into his phone. “Is he alone?” Matt asked grabbing his gun out of a drawer in the nightstand. Kimmie’s eyes widened a little. What the hell was going on? “Let him in.” Matt said before ending the call. “What’s going on?” Kimmie asked a little worried. Matt looked at her, his expression instantly softening. “Nothing just someone here says it’s an emergency.” he said. “You wouldn’t need a gun if it was nothing.” she whispered. “It’s just a precaution.” he said flashing her a smile, and crawling over to her. He cupped the side of her face, and gave her a soft kiss. “I’ll just be a minute.” he said pulling away.

Matt paused for a moment, and looked Jena over with a smirk. She looked so sexy with her blonde hair a mess from the nights previous activities as she held the sheet against her naked body. Matt leaned back in giver her another kiss with a little more need and hunger. “Stay just like that,” he whispered against her lips, “I’m going to ravage you when I get back.” he said feeling her shiver a little under his touch. Kimmie bit her bottom lip, and nodded as she looked up at him through her lashes.

Matt smirked giving her one more kiss before he left. Hes expression went cold as soon as he closed the bedroom door. He walked down the stairs, and to the front door. He threw it open, and stormed through the entryway opening the outside door just as Chris reached the top of the steps. Matt angrily grabbed him by the shirt, and pinned him against the wall. “What the fuck are you doing here?” Matt questioned low, not letting go of Chris shirt. Chris put his hands up keeping his fear locked away. “I came to warn you.” he said. “About what?” Matt asked narrowing his eyes. “About Ivan, and what he’s planning.” Chris said. Matt pulled his gun out of the back of his pants. “Betrayal of your leader is punishable by death.” Matt hissed pressing the barrel against Chris’ forehead. “It’s a risk I’m willing to take if it saves the little girl. At least my conscience will be clean.” he said showing no signs of fear.

Confusion crossed Matt’s face as he slowly lowered his gun. “What the hell are you talking about?” he asked fighting to remain calm. “He wants to take you all out,” Chris paused looking Shadows dead in the eye, “Including the little girl.” he finished. Matt let go of him, and backed off. He didn’t think Ivan would go that far. Matt tucked his gun into the back of his pants. “Why should I believe you?” he questioned. This could all be part of the plan. Set them up for a trap. “I can give you nothing but my word,” Chris said, “But my morals come before any orders.” he stated.

Matt studied the man for a moment. He still wasn’t sure if he could trust him, but the thought of harm coming to Lilly weighed heavy, and he felt like he had no choice. Matt motioned with his finger for Chris to follow him. They walked strait ahead to Matt’s office. Chris took a seat in front of the desk as Matt took one behind it. He folded his arms on his desk, and fixed his gaze on Chris.”I respect your moral, and for every rule there is an exception,” Matt said, “But I will warn you, if you’re trying to pull one over on me, I will kill you with the rest of them.” he warned. Chris nodded. “I assure you that is not my intentions. I would rather die betraying my gang than see a child selfishly murdered.” he said. “If what you say is true, and this isn’t a set up than maybe we can avoid that,” Matt told him, “Lets start by you telling me everything.”
