Chapter 20

Jimmy chuckled to himself as he read the computer code on the flash drive. “Fucking amateurs.” he mumbled. Jimmy pulled out his phone, and sent Matt a text. Matt came in a few moments later, and placed his hands on top of the back of Jimmy’s chair. “What do you got.” he asked looking at the computer monitors. “You see that?” Jimmy asked pointing to the code running up the screen. “Looks like a bunch of ones and zeros. Oh wait was that a two.” Matt said with a smirk. “Haha,” Jimmy said sarcastically, “Its code for a virus. One designed to take out our security system.” he stated. “Do you know who made it?” Matt asked. “Unfortunately no. You’ll have to get that out of Emily. She may have been smart enough to pick the lock, but there’s no way she made this.” Jimmy said. Matt nodded, “I have Tammy working on that. Would it have worked?” he asked. Jimmy grinned, and shook his head, “ My anti-virus would have squashed it like the bug it is.” he said.

Emily jumped to her feet when her cell door was thrown open. Gates and Vengeance walked in, faces cold. She noticed Gates carrying a chair with straps attached to it. He slammed it down in the middle of the room, and they both grabbed her. She tried to fight them off as they forced her into the chair with ease, of course she wasn’t strong enough. Gates held her down as vengeance strapped her arms down, wrists up. She screamed for help as they each strapped an ankle to the legs of the chair. “Will you shut the fuck up!” Gates snapped at her, “No one can hear you anyway. This entire house is sound proof.” he finished. She stared up at the two men in front of her wearing matching sinister smirks. She felt her body start to shake from the fear. This wasn’t suppose to happen. He said it would be easy. “What do you think she’ll do to her?” Vengeance asked Gates. “I don’t know. She won’t tell me.” Gates said as they talked like Emily wasn’t in the room.

She assumed they were talking about Syndy. That only made her more nervous. She wasn’t sure if they would, but they never seemed like they would be violent with a woman, but Syndy wasn’t a man. “Whatever it is, I’m sure it will be good.” Gates said as the two left her there alone, the thoughts of what’s to come racing through her mind. Would they kill her? He surely would if she talked. She didn’t know what to do. She was dead either way. The tears started to fall down her cheeks. She wasn’t ready to die. How could she have let herself get mixed up in this? He told her everything she wanted to hear, that’s how.

Emily’s scared, red eyes snapped to the door when it was opened again. Gates and Syndy walked in. He was carrying a video camera and a tripod. “Just set it up over there.” Syndy told him, pointing to the far corner behind Emily. Her eyes went to the two cases Syndy was holding. They were small, rectangular cases, and Emily feared what was inside. Syndy moved behind her, setting the cases on the cot as Gates set up the camera. “Have fun baby.” Brian said when he was finished. Tammy looked at him with a smile. “I intend to.” she said giving him a kiss before he left.

Tammy walked over to the camera, and turned it on. She casually walked back to the cot, and sat down. Gripping Emily’s chair where the back and seat meet, she roughly turned her. Emily’s scared eyes met the expressionless face of Syndy. Tammy leaned back a little, and studied the frightened woman. She was hoping she wouldn’t end up having to kill her, but that depends on the choices she makes. They know she’s just a pawn in someone else game. Syndy reached into her pocket, and pulled out the flash drive. “Do you know what this is?” she asked her. Emily shook her head. He didn’t tell her what was on it. Just plug it in and click OK. It would do the rest. “It’s a virus,” Syndy stated holding the drive between two fingers, “Meant to take out our security.” she finished, dropping the dive, and crushing it beneath her foot. Tammy smiled at the pieces on the floor, “Funny, that’s what The Rev’s anti-virus would have done to it.” she said looking back up at Emily.

Tammy tilted her head a little as she watched the visibly shaking woman. It wasn’t going to take long before she would crack. That much she could tell. “Who are you working for?” Tammy asked getting to the task at hand. Emily didn’t say anything. She loved him, but was she willing to die for him? Would he kill her for betraying him? “This will all be a lot easier if you started talking.” Tammy said calmly. Emily met her eyes, “I-I’m afraid he’ll kill me if I do.” she managed to squeak out. Tammy smiled softly. “Sweetie I’m going to if you don’t.” she stated. Emily looked down as the tears started fall again. She knew she was dead.

Tammy let out a sigh as Emily started to sob. All she had to do was cooperate, and she would be fine. “You don’t have to die Emily.” she said, and the girl looked at her again. “Just tell me who sent you, and he’ll never find you.” Tammy said trying to reason with her. “No. No! He’ll find me, and kill me!” she sobbed out. Tammy pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration. She opened the cases that were on either sides of her, and Emily’s eyes widened, her sobs silencing. Each case had 10 syringes lined up in them. The case on the right had blue caps, and the left, orange with a latex tourniquet laying over them. “What is that?” she asked the fear thick in her voice. Tammy smiled wide. “Well Dr. Gnome explained it to me in all his brainiac, scientific, medical terms, but I’ll dumb it down for you.” she said picking up one of the blue syringes.

“This is an upper,” she said holding it up, and grabbing one of the orange syringes, “And this is a downer.” she said holding the two in front of her. “I’m going to inject you with this one first,” she said waving the blue one in front of her a little, “Then once it kicks in, and your heart and mind start to race, your muscles start to twitch, and you start to get jittery because your body wants to get up and move around,” she smiled and tilted her head, “Then I’m going to inject you with this,” she said doing the same motion with the orange one, “And it’s going to take over. You’ll start to relax almost to the point of sleep. Then…” she trailed off for a moment. “BOOM!” she yelled causing Emily to jump, “The upper is going to want to take control back. Then it will just be one big roller coaster ride as the two box it out in your system for control. Dose after dose, after dose,” Tammy leaned in close to Emily, “Until your heart explodes.” she finished at a whisper.

Emily felt the hot tears fill her eyes again. She was never going to make it out of here, and even if she did, she was as good as dead out there. He would find her. She just knew he would. Tammy grabbed the tourniquet, and stood with an excited smile. “Now,” she started walking behind Emily, “Christ showed me how to do this,” she said as she tied the tourniquet around Emily’s arm, “I even practiced on a few cadavers at the hospital,” she said slapping the vein with two fingers, “But you’ll be my first live person,” she said, the excited smile still on her face as she pulled the blue cap off with her teeth. She spit the cap out, and brought the tip of the needle down to Emily’s arm. “Hope I don’t miss.” she said as she got ready to sink the needle.

“Wait!” Emily cried out. Tammy stood up needle in hand, “Can you really hide me?” she asked with pleading eyes. Tammy sat back down, her expression softening. “We can,” she said, “Just tell us what you know, and we can make sure he never finds you.” she told her. Emily hesitated. Could she trust them. Maybe he was the one not to be trusted. Emily took a deep breath, and met Syndy’s gaze. “His name is Ivan. Ivan Moody.” she told her, “I don’t know who made the virus, but he’s the one that gave it to me,” she explained, “He wants what you have. He wants the power. All I had to do was upload the virus, and him and his men would take care of the rest.” she said.

Tammy nodded at the information she just heard. She could almost picture a pissed off, pacing Matt right now. He was watching from his office, and isn’t very fond of Ivan. Emily started to sob again, and Tammy almost felt sorry for her. “He said he loved me, and we would be together if I did this for him.” she sobbed out. “Oh sweetie you don’t really believe that do you?” Tammy asked her sympathetically. Emily nodded, “I did.” she said. “Honey if he loved you he wouldn’t have put you in a position that could have cost you your life.” Tammy told her. Emily let the sobs take her again as the truth set in. He just used her. She should have known. He never shown any interest, unless he was horny. Then she was just a fuck to him, but she was blinded by her own feeling.

Tammy put the needle back in the case, and removed the tourniquet, closing both cases. Her phone went off in her pocket, and she pulled it out. She read the message from Matt, and put the phone back in her pocket. “If I unstrap you, are you going to cooperate?” Tammy asked. Emily looked at her, scared and confused. Tammy kept her expression soft, and comforting, “Shadows wants to see you. Will you cooperate?” She waited patiently for an answer. She knew the girl was scared, and saw even more fear sweep her face hearing Shadows wanted to see her. She really did feel sorry for the girl. “Look,” Tammy started very calm and comforting, “If you cooperate, I promise no harm will come to you, but you have to trust us. You are not our threat. He is. Just come upstairs and talk to him. I assure you everything will be fine.” she told her.

Emily let out a defeated sigh, her tears drying. “Okay.” she finally whispered. Tammy smiled a little, and patted the girls knee before undoing her straps. She held out her hand to help Emily up, and she took it in her own shaking hand. “Calm down,” Tammy told her as she opened the door, “You have nothing to be afraid of.” she said as she lead her up the stairs. They reached the top of the stairs, and went through the door, and to Matt’s office. Tammy ushered her to a chair in front of Matt’s desk, and then stood next to Brian who was standing next to Matt, sitting in his chair. Emily kept her gaze in her lap as she fidgeted with her hands. “Do you know what Ivan was planning after the virus was uploaded?” Matt asked calmly. He wasn’t angry, at least not with her. His blood was boiling inside for him. “No,” Emily said finally meeting his eyes, “He just said him and his men would take care of the rest.” she told him. Matt nodded, and looked down at her file he had open on his desk. “You have a sister that lives in Ohio with her husband correct?” Matt asked her. “Yes sir.” she answered softly. “That’s where we will be sending you when this is all over,” Matt started to explain to her, “But first I’ll be sending you to Chicago. I have people there that can keep you safe and hidden until then,” he continued to explain, “Cam and Micah will be driving you to the airport, and you’ll be met in Chicago at the gate by two men named Corey and Sid. I’ve already made arrangements, and sent them your picture, they’ll find you. Do you understand so far?” Matt asked. Emily nodded, “Are you sure he won’t find me?” she questioned, still very nervous. “He’ll never think you look for you there, and even if he does, he will be greatly out numbered.” Matt told her.

Emily nodded, but it was clear she was still in fear for her life. “I promise he won’t find you. If anything he’ll be lead to believe you’re dead.” Matt told her. “What are you going to do to him?” she asked, curiosity getting the better of her. Matt smirked, “Don’t worry about him,” he said before his smirk faded, “I’m sure he wasn’t worried about you.” he added. Emily fought back the tears. She knew he was right. She was just a pawn he could dispose. “Don’t worry about packing anything. They will provide you with what you need. Once I take care of him, I’ll wire you 10 grand to start your life over in Ohio. I never want to see or hear from you again. Is that understood?” Matt questioned. “Yes sir.” she whispered. “Good. Follow Syndy. She’ll take you to Cam and Micah.” Matt told her as he sent her whole file through a paper shredder. He had all the information he needed in his computer.

Tammy stood next to Emily, holding out her hand for her to take. She was trying to be as comforting as possible for the girl, and you could tell she was finally starting to relax a little. Emily took her hand, and stood, turning to leave. She paused for a moment and faced Shadows again. “Thank you.” she said softly. “For what?” Matt asked meeting her gaze. “For sparing me.” she said. Matt nodded. “You’re not the one that deserves to die.” he stated, his expression turning cold.
