Chapter 17

Kimmie double checked her bag to make sure she had everything. She didn’t know how long they were going to gone, so she made sure Jasper had plenty of food , and water for the day. A smile came out when she heard a motorcycle pull up outside. She gave Jasper a quick goodbye, and was out the door before Matt could even get off his bike. Their eyes met, and Kimmie looked him over, sitting there on his shinny, black bike. “You know, You’re irresistible enough as is,” she started walking through her gate to join him, “You can tone it down a little.” she finished with a smile that only got wider. Was he blushing? “Have to make sure I’m embedded in your mind.” he said climbing off his bike. “Trust me, you’re there, and nesting.” she confessed. “Good.” he said wasting no time pulling her into him, and claiming her lips. He’s been thinking about this all weekend. After she left him stunned, and breathless Friday night, he’s been craving to feel her lips again.

Kimmie felt shivers run down her spine, strait to her core. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and pulled him closer to her. He broke the kiss sooner than she would have liked, but still leaving her breathless. She opened her eyes, and met his swimming with lust. “We need to go before I cancel the whole day, and take you inside.” he whispered. Kimmie bit her bottom lip, and nodded, even though she would be completely okay with that idea. Matt slid her bag off her shoulder, and put it inside one of the saddle bags on his bike. He climbed on, and patted the seat behind him. Kimmie smiled, and got on wrapping her arms around his waist. His abs felt as hard as they looked, and she resisted the urge to slip her hands under his shirt.

The bike roared to life, and they were soon off to their first stop. The day was clear, and beautiful. The sent of the ocean was in the air as they cruised along the coast. Kimmie closed her eyes, a content smile on her face, as she tilted her head back letting the combination of Matt’s cologne, and the ocean breeze fill her senses. The curiosity of what they were doing today was killing her, but something inside of her was resisting the urge to ask. The mystery of the man was something she enjoyed. It kept her craving more, and she liked the thrill of it all. Kimmie let out a content sigh, and rested her head on his back, holding on just a little tighter.

Matt smiled as he felt his heart start to pick up. God how he missed this feeling. He took one of his hands, and glided his fingers across Jena’s arms wrapped tightly around him, resting his arm on her’s for a moment. Kimmie felt goosebumps rise to his touch, and she was sure she could die happy right now. A quick flash of his kiss hello popped into her mind, and she immediately felt the heat rise in her….Maybe not quite yet. Kimmie frowned a little when he moved his hand back to the handle bars, but soon realized he was turning. A sign said private road, but Kimmie couldn’t see around Matt enough to see where they were going.

Matt pulled up to a large chain link fence, and placed a hand on a reader. Kimmie watched as the fence started to slide open. Matt pulled in, and turned right down another road. Kimmie could finally take in the sights, and it only confused her more. There was a long building they drove along down the side of until Matt turned around it. It was a hanger it looked like to her. “Where are we?” she asked when they came to a stop. “My private airport.” he said killing the engine on the bike. Kimmie looked at him more confused. “You have an airport?” she asked. “Where else am I going to keep my jet?” he replied with a smirk pushing a button on a remote attached to his key chain.

Kimmie watched as the large door on the hanger started to raise revealing a large private jet. Jesus Christ these people are loaded, she thought to herself. “But we’re not taking that.” Matt whispered in her ear behind her, and closing the door with the remote. “We’re taking that.” he said turning her completely around. Kimmie’s jaw dropped a little at the sight of the shinny black helicopter with a large white Deathbat on the side. She could see someone moving around by it. Probably the pilot. It looked like he was doing a final check over everything.

Kimmie looked to Matt, and he smiled wide at her. He tossed his keys into one of the saddle bags on his bike, and grabbed her hand, “Come on.” he said pulling her toward the helicopter. “But what about our stuff?” she asked looking back at the bike as he pulled her along. “It’ll get to where it needs to be.” he told her, not looking back. They came to a stop next to the chopper. “This is Bill,” Matt said introducing a man in his late forties with salt and pepper hair, “He’s my pilot.” he finished as Kimmie shook the man’s hand. He smiled warmly at her, and opened the door to the chopper, “Shall we?” Bill asked before him and Matt helped Jena into the chopper. Matt climbed in behind her, and Bill closed the door behind him. He opened his door, and got in, putting on a headset, and passing two back to them, starting the helicopter once they were on.

Matt grabbed Jena’s hand, lacing their fingers together, and she gave him an excited smile as the helicopter started to raise into the air. Kimmie had only been in a helicopter once, but it wasn’t for leisure. Her and some other officers took a volunteer Coast Guard training course a few years ago. She never got to fly in the police chopper. The department had specially trained officers for that, so she was excited for this.

They flew along the coast, and over Huntington Beach for awhile. Matt pointed out places, and told her stories of him, and the guys when they were teenagers. The first time they were arrested for shoplifting some booze from a liquor store. The first place they ever left a drunk and naked Johnny. Poor kid, only sixteen, passed out, and they duct tapped him to the goal post on the high school football field. Kimmie’s cheeks hurt from the laughter as he told her about their shenanigans of their younger years. She was having the time of her life. Never had she seen the town or coast this way. Everyone looked so tiny just going about their everyday lives. Matt seemed so happy as he shared his life with her, and she didn’t think the day could get better, but who knows what this man has in store for her.

Bill piloted the chopper away from the coast, and started to head further out over the ocean. Kimmie noticed Matt moving next to her, and she pulled her gaze away from the open ocean. She was glad that she did too, noticing he pulled his shirt off. She watched as she undid his jeans, and pulled off his boots and socks. He shimmied out of his jeans revealing a pair of beach shorts. Matt felt her eyes on him, and he looked over at her with a grin. “This is where you’ll need your bathing suit.” he said handing her a black life jacket.

Kimmie took the jacket staring at him wide eyed as he strapped his on. She was really hoping he wasn’t thinking what she thought he was. Matt looked at her, noticing she had mad no attempt to move. He smirked at the nervous expression on her face as she tried to piece together what he was planning. “What?” he asked tilting his head a little looking at her, “Haven’t you ever jumped out of a helicopter into the ocean before?” he asked like it was an everyday thing people do, and confirming her fears. Kimmie shook her head, and Matt handed her some binoculars.

He guided her vision to a boat he had anchored in the ocean. “See that?” he asked, and she nodded. “That’s my yacht, and that’s where we’re spending the rest of the day.” he explained taking the binoculars from her. For some reason the thought of spending all day alone with him, on a yacht, in the middle of the ocean calmed her nerves a little….just a little. She pulled off her tank top, and shorts before strapping on the life jacket. She still didn’t know if she could do this. See she didn’t exactly pass that training course. When it came to jumping out of the chopper, 50 feet above the ocean, well she just couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Kimmie took a deep shaky breath as the helicopter started to lower. Matt slid open the door, and took Jena’s shaking hand. His honey gaze comforted her nervous blues, and he smiled softly at her. “It’s only 30 feet,” he told her, “There are high dives higher than that.” he said cupping her face, and stroking her cheeks with his thumbs. Kimmie closed her eyes, and look another deep breath. It wasn’t as high, and that eased her nerves a little, but not like the way he was stroking her cheeks. She opened her eyes, and gave him a slight nod. He smiled, and gave her a soft, gentle, and comforting kiss. Yea she could do this.

Matt pulled away, and grabbed her hand as they moved to the door. “Ready?” he asked looking at her. “No!” she yelled over the chopped looking down at the water below. “I’m right here with you.” he said kissing the back of her hand as she looked at him. She smiled and took another deep breath, “The count of three,” Matt started turning his gaze back to the water, “One, two, three!” he yelled, and they jumped, landing feet first in the water, the splash falling short of reaching the chopper.

Kimmie kicked to the surface with ease, the life jacket assisting, pulling her to the surface. She took a breath when she broke the water, and wiped her eyes. She watched the helicopter pulled away, and let out a startled yelp when Matt popped up in front of her. He wiped the water from his eyes, grinning wide at her, “That wasn’t so bad was it?” he asked receiving a face full of water when she splashed him. “That was terrifying, ass.” she said, not hiding her smile. Matt let out a laugh, “Race you to the boat.” he said taking off, swimming towards the yacht. Kimmie took off after him. She was a strong swimmer, but quickly realized she wasn’t going to catch up to him.

Matt reached the ladder attached to the side of the yacht, and climbed up. He stood on the deck above the ladder, a victorious smile on his face as he watched Jena reach the boat. Kimmie gripped the ladder, and looked up at his smug smirk. “Cheater.” she grumbled as she climbed up. Matt mocked offense, “I did not cheat.” he said helping her up the rest of the way. “You stole a head start.” she said taking off her life jacket. Matt’s eyes raked over her wet, bikini clad body as he pulled off his life jacket. It wasn’t the same blue one, but fuck she looked hot in white. He closed the distance between them, and pulled her close, “Allow me to make up for it then.” he said claiming her lips again, in a more hungry, and passionate kiss than before.

Kimmie melted into him as their tongues fought for dominance, which she gladly let him have. They pulled away breathless, and she kept her eyes closed for a moment as he heart thudded in her chest. “I forgive you.” she whispered hearing a deep chuckle escape him. “Come on,” he said pulling completely away and engulfing her hands, “I’ll show you around.” Matt showed her all around the deck first. There was a pool, and hot tub. Lounger chairs lined the pool, and the other end of the deck had a built in grill with patio tables and chairs set up. He took her below deck, and showed her the bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, and an entertainment room. Kimmie smirked and looked to Matt, “Isn’t the whole point of being out here is to get away from all of this?” she asked pointing to the Tv and the many game console hooked up to it. Matt grinned, “Never know when the urge will rise.” he said. Kimmie smiled and shook her head before walking over to him. “Maybe you’ll have the urge for something else today.” she said seductively, walking past him, making sure her chest brushed against his arm ever so lightly.

Matt felt his shorts tighten slightly, and he watched her walk up the stairs to the deck. Goddamn this woman drove him crazy. He followed her up, resisting the urge to take her right there against the wall. He was trying so hard not to move to quickly, but he didn’t know how much longer he could hold out. Matt opened a bottle of wine, and turned the hot tube on. They kept themselves distracted with conversation. She told him about her brothers and the many tortures they put her through, but were always quick to stand up for her and defend her. No one was allowed to pick on their sister, but them. He cooked her an amazing fish diner, that they ate on the the deck with the open ocean as a view. The longer the night went on, and the more wine bottles emptied, the more they found it hard to keep their hands off each other.

They laid out on a beach towel big enough for the two of them, as the sun started to get low in the sky. The day couldn’t have been more perfect, and as Matt’s hands roamed her body while he kissed down her neck, Kimmie knew just how she wanted it to end. She gripped his hair in her hands as he kissed along her collar. She could feel herself getting wetter as his kisses got lower. Her body screaming for his touch as his hands went lower grazing her swollen clit through her bikini bottoms. A soft moan escaped her lips, and Matt sat up abruptly. Kimmie’s eyes shot open, and she looked at him. He looked conflicted. Something was bothering him.

She sat up and placed a hand on his arm. “What’s wrong.” she asked suddenly feeling a little self conscious. He looked at her, and she seen pain flash in his eyes. “I like you Jena, a lot.” he confessed, and Kimmie felt a ping of guilt hit her. “You just have to know that what I do is dangerous, and could put your life at risk.” Why was he suddenly telling her all of this. “My fiance was murdered 10 years ago,” he started watching her eyes go wide, “I killed someone, and she was murdered because of it.” he told her. “You killed someone?” she asked at a whisper. She couldn’t believe he was confessing all of this to her. “It was self defense, the other guy shot first, but his nephew didn’t see it that way.” he said low the pain very clear in his voice. “Why are you telling me this?” she asked. Matt sighed and looked at her. “Because I’m falling for you, and I want you in my life, but you need to know that there are dangers that come with that.”

Kimmie looked away for a moment as she let the information sink in. She knows he’s killed. It was self defense. She’s killed people on the job in self defense. What was really bothering her was that he was being so open and honest with her, spilling himself to her, and she couldn’t even tell him her real name. She put her life in danger everyday on the job. This didn’t bother her. Kimmie looked back up at him, his eyes searching hers. “I understand Matt.” she said feeling the guilt again as she said his name, “I’ve killed someone too.” she confessed to him. He looked at her confused. Kimmie took a deep breath. She knew what she was about to tell him may get her caught, but maybe she wanted to. He may not know her real name, but he was at least going to know her. “I killed the man that murdered my parents,” she said meeting his gaze, “Have you ever heard of the California Doll Maker….
