"Here," dad passed me my phone which was flung on the bed.

"What?"

"Ring her" He urged. "Go on"

I gave a small smile to him and snatched the phone away, beginning to dial Renee's number.

"Hello?" She murmered.

"Hi baby"

"Brian," she sighed in relief. "You home safe?"

"Yeah, safe and sound" I smiled. I looked up at dad who was smiling too.

"You had your surprise yet?" Renee tutted.

"Y-yeah, you knew?"

"Mom rang me asking if I'd come down for it the other day, I gathered you realised mom and Johnny weren't a thing?"

"Mmhmm. God, I'm sorry" I fell onto back into a chair and was at my happiest talking to her.

"Sorry for what?"

"For being so blind," I sniggered. Dad gave me the eye, pushing me along - urging me to spit it out. "It's you Ren"

"Me? What's me?" She sounded so confused.

"I love you Ren" I smiled, also blushed knowing dad was watching.

"I, I love you too" She happily laughed. "I love you"

"I don't fancy flying all the way back to Mississippi today, mind if I come in a few days?" I couldn't stop my wide grin.

"No - we need to talk to mom, I'll come to you"

"You think that's a good idea? Personally I think we should give her time to get over me a little" Dads same smile kinda dropped a bit, we both thought the same thing. Jennifer had done nothing wrong, and I was gonna break her loving heart. Maybe Johnny could actually be her saviour. Or some crap like that.

"I guess. But still, I'll come home" Those words made me happy, she'd been so reluctant to come home before, and at least Jen would be over the moon about it.

"Thank you, I'm so-"

"You know you've only got one chance with me, if you muck this up I swear to god"

"It won't happen, look, I'm gonna go downstairs, just enjoy the party with the guys - I'll talk to you in the morning okay?" Dad at with me and put his hand on my knee.

"Ok, enjoy it," She sighed. "Thank you Brian"

"Don't thank me, have a good day beautiful" After I heard her cute little giggle, I hung up.

"It's for the best son, your clearly happier with her" Dad stood up and left me, smiling to myself in the room.
