Brians POV

"Open up" I shouted banging on my locked front door. The flight worn me out, I wasn't in the best of moods - lucky Jennifer.

"Brian!" She smiled wrapping her arms around my neck, and kissing me. I didn't want to, but I fell for the kiss, totally forgetting where they have been. "I've missed you"

"Yeah?" I asked.

"You missed me?" Jen asked with a gleaming smile.

"Sure," I budged past her with my bag and dumped it in the hall.

"Wait," she said grabbing my wrist, pulling me away from the living room. "I love you"

"Yeah, I, you too" Those words kinda shook me up now, with the whole Renee situation.

"Ok you can go in now"

"Um, thanks?"

I walked through to the dark room and flicked the light switch on.

"Surprise!!!" Around 19 people screamed at me. I wasn't shocked, pissed off is more of a word.

"It's my birthday tomorrow?" I asked turning to Jen who had an excited face.

"I know but it's our day tomorrow, I wanted to do something nice for you - me and Johnny have been sneaking around for a few months doing this"

"You and Johnny? Oh" I sighed leaning on the door frame. Everyones attention passed by me, and music started playing and drinks started opening. "I'm just gonna go get changed, I'll be down in a minute" I kissed Jens cheek and walked upstairs.

So she wasn't having an affair clearly. How shitty and low did I feel?

"Hey," I heard. My dad walked through and sat next to me. "I had to lie to your girlfriend Brian"

"What? Why?"

"You told her you was staying with me for a few nights. Why? Where were you?" He didn't sound mad, he sounded concerned. "You can tell me anything son"

"Sorry, I had to go somewhere"

"And you couldn't tell your girlfriend?"

"No, I really couldn't"

"Tell me son. Whatever it is, I'm here and you know that" He put his arm around my shoulder and shook me lightly.

"You sure about that?" I cuffed brushing him away.

"I'm not a crappy dad and you know that, I'm gonna be there for you until the day I die"

"You'll soon change your mind about that" I sighed

"So what is it boy?"

"Uh," I thought. "I went to Mississippi, to visit someone"

"Isn't that where Jen's daughters gone..? Oh. You, saw her?"

"Yeah" I coughed.

"Why,?" He sniggered. "Renee?"

"Cus, uh," I sighed to myself and decided to just say it. "I'm in love with her, dad"

"Your what?!"

"See, I told you"

"Brian" He shook his head at me. With disappointment I suppose. "What are you doing here then?"

"What you mean?"

"Well, if you love her, then clearly you should be with her right?" He stoodoup and gave me one of his 'rare' hugs.

"Should I?"

"Does she feel the same way?" He asked. I nodded at him and sat back down on the bed, giving up. "Then what's the problem?"
