Him

I struggled with my huge case down the stairs. Brian heard the bangs and ran towards the staircase in worry.

"What are you- where are you going?" He asked.

"Where's mom?"

"At work. Renee where are you going?!" Brian shouted stopping me from moving.

"Out of here. Move" I pushed past him and grabbed the first sheet of paper and pen I saw.

'Dear mom,' I wrote. 'I'm nineteen now and I feel like I am ready to do things by myself. I'm not a kid anymore. You may be wondering where I am when you get here, and why I'm writing this. I'm going to Missisipi to visit dad. It's been 3 years, I miss him. The reason its sudden and unsaid to you is because it would kill me to say goodbye. I love you so much mom, don't ever forget that. I'll only be gone a few months, then after if you could help me find the perfect place here in Cali that would be great. I'll call you everyday I promise. I love you, goodbye mom xx - Renee'

"Why are you writing? Ren what are you doing?"

"Take care of her Brian" I sighed wiping a tear. "Give this to mom, please"

"I will, of course but, just where are you going?!"

"Missisipi"

'Missis- what?! Why? What" He looked so confused.

"I'm staying with my dad Brian it's not a big deal" I pushed by him again and grabbed the case from the bottom step.

"But-"

"I just need time away! The cabs here, I gotta go" I opened the front door but he slammed it infront of me, stopping me from leaving.

For the last time, his lips pressed against mine.

"I'll call you okay?"

"Ok," I opened the door and walked down the oath dragging my case. When I turned around, he stood waiting for me to leave with a regretful face. "I love you" I whispered and confessed. I doubt he heard it, which was for the best.

"Where too Miss?" The cab driver asked.

"Whiteman airport please" I said holding in all of my tears.

"Sure thing, friends?"

"Family" I corrected. "Missisipi"
