Him

All day I waited. It was half past midnight, and I'd had enough, I was going to sleep.

...

"Renee?" I heard a deep whisper, and then I felt a small kiss on my cheek.

"Hi" I opened my eyes, and Brian was sat next to me on my bed stroking my hair. When I sat up, he looked to the floor.

"So, earlier-" He tapped his fingers together and looked around the room. "I gotta be real about this Ren, your, 19" When he turned to me his eyes sparkled with the dim light of my nightlight. "Me and you were just fooling around, no feelings attatched.."

"No feelings attached" I sniggered. I was undoubtedly falling in love with this man and he had no idea.

"Yeah none, but Jennif- your mom, means the world to me, and I can't loose her"

"If she meant the world to you, you wouldn't have fucked her daughter" I was dying to shout at him, but it was half 2 in the morning and mom would hear. At least this was the last time I'd ever have to watch what I do around him.

"I get that. Look. I am sorry, it's just, your just a teenager and I-"

"Just a teenager?" I emphasised the word 'just'.

"No you know what I mean I-"

"I know full well what you mean. Just, go" I wiped the odd tear away from my cheek.

"I'm sorry Renee" And he left.

I broke down, silently crying. I should have known better than to sleep with a 32 year old man. Oh, that was dating my mother too. Thoughts raced around my mind about how to cope with seeing him everyday. But then, I got it. My fingers couldn't dile his number quick enough.

"Hello?" He said.

"Hi, I'm sorry if I've woke you, dad"

"Nay! It's great to here from you, no no I'm watching baseball, how have you been sweetie?" He sounded happy and releaved to talk to me.

"Good, yeah, um, think I could come visit you for a while?"

"Really? Of course baby, I'd love for you to come down. I can come to you if you wan-"

"No I want to come to Missisipi" I hadn't seen dad in 3 years. Flying over there was something I'd been waiting for the right time to do, I guess I've seized the chance.

"Ok great! I still have your room here so your very welcome to stay" He joyfully laughed.

"Thank you dad"

"When you gonna come, next month or?"

"Tomorrow"

"T-tomorrow? Baby it's not that easy, there might not even be a flight for another four weeks? Does your mother know?" He said.

"I have it in front of me on my tablet there's one at half 2 tomorrow"

"Do you have the money because I can pay for it?"

"Yeah, I got it"

"And your mother is okay with this?"

"Y-yeah" I lied. The thought of leaving mom was heartbreaking. Even though she'd have Brian, she'd be so lonely without me.

"Well great! You better get some sleep then, text me in the morning, love you"

"Night, love you"
