"Uh, morning mom"

"Hello dear" She seemed to have let last night go. "Can I ask you something?"

"Of course"

"Come sit with me" Mom pulled me a chair out from the kitchen table and moved Brians newspaper out of the way.

"Everything okay?"

"Was Brian, texting at all yesterday?"

"Mom that's a weird question, of course he was?" I sat back in the chair and relaxed this wasn't a 'mom talk'.

"Think you could keep an eye on him for me? See she took a breath. "I think he's cheating on me"

"Oh" My heart dropped.

"Have you seen anything, suspicious?"

"No mom. He, wouldn't do that to you" I sighed.

"Are you sure?

"Yeah mom, I'm sure" Lying to my mom was heartbreaking. "I don't feel good, you have any paracetamol?" I felt fine, and I new she didn't because I looked to give Brian some last night. I needed her out of the house for 5 minutes.

"Oh darling, you are hot" She said feeling my forehead with her hand. "I'll go get you some"

"Ok, thanks mom" I fake smiled. As soon as she left, I went through to the living room where Brian was playing on his acoustic.

"Hey" He smiled, tapping the spot next to him for me to sit.

"We need to talk" I sat close to him. His arm was around me strumming, and the other was randomising chords to play. "Mom thinks your cheating"

"I heard" He sighed.

"I can't do this anymore"The beautiful music stopped, and he looked at me.

"But I thought-"

"You can't have us both," I shook my head and it fell to Brians shoulder.

"Sorry darling they had no paracetamol but I do have some ibuprofen" Mom shouted coming through the door. I left Brians arms and stood up.

I mouthed the words, 'me or her'.

"Here you go sweet" She kissed me on the cheek handing me the pills and cuddled up to Brian on the sofa.

Ignoring them both, I headed upstairs where I intended to stay for the rest of the day.

I hoped Brian came.
