Perfectly Reckless

Chapter 28

That Metal Show, Ohio – 2013

From the mirror, I can see his reflection – talking and laughing with Josh and Wesley while I was hopelessly sliding on my mascara and putting on the last touch of my lipstick. I can’t help but noticed that he’s been avoiding me ever since we gathered here in the studio. I can’t blame him though. I was the one who put him through all this awkwardness. The rest still didn’t know about our break up and I intend to keep it that way. Let me and Joe figure this out by ourselves and when we’re ready to tell, we’ll tell.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door and Wesley went to open it automatically. Right at that moment, my eyes locked with Joe in the mirror and I smiled in concern, but he just ran his gaze away from me.

“Hello, there. Who are you looking for?”

“Uh, is Lzzy here?”

“Are you..her fan?”

“You can put it that way.”

“Oh but I’m sorry, fans can’t come in-”

“Johnny!! Hey, buddy!” RJ came out of the adjoined washroom and immediately rushed to the door. I saw Johnny was standing there so I got up and welcomed him too. Oh right, Avenged Sevenfold’s dressing room was next door.

“He’s a friend, Wesley. Chill out.” RJ claimed.

“Sorry, I didn’t know.”

“Nevermind. I’m Johnny.” Johnny held out his hand to Wesley and she took it with her cheeks blushed.

“Hey Johnny. How are ya?” Suddenly Joe cut in between us, taking Johnny’s hand away from Wesley and I sensed some urgency in that action. What’s going on?

“Hey, Joe, Josh..LZZY!!” Johnny yelled when he found my face and I grinned wide, taking him in a hug. With my heels so high I had to bend down a little to reach his embrace.

“Fuck, Lzzy. Don’t mock me with your heels.”

“I’m sorry buddy. I just love shoes so much.”

“We used to stand on the same height.”

I laughed and invited him in. “It’s been ten years. Do you expect me to wear Vans that long?”

“Hey, Vans is cool. I wear ‘em all the time!”

“You’re a guy, Johnny. Come on, take a seat. How are you doing?”

He settled down on a couch and I saw Joe stood quite far apart with arms crossed over his chest.

“I’m good. We’re doing good. I miss you Lzzy. You’ve been avoiding our calls forever. I just wanna talk to you, and hang out.”

“I know, buddy. I’m sorry. It’s just, we’ve been so fucking busy.”

“Yeah I can tell. I have your album downloaded legally, your songs are fucking amazing.”

“Thank you, man.” RJ replied, patted his back a couple of times. A bit weird actually, to see the bassist from a big name such as Avenged Sevenfold came here and complimenting us like a regular fan would.

“Hey, your album’s not too shabby. I love it! It gave off a classic Metallica-like vibe from it. It’s awesome.” I stated, making sure that Johnny felt flattered too.

“Yeah, Lzzy’s favorite song is Shepherd of Fire.” Wesley spoke in between, and I turned to glare at her. I blushed easily remembering that song because it can turn me on like hell.

“Really? It’s Matt’s favorite too. Out of this album. He said that when he sings the song, he imagined thrusting in and out of a girl’s vagina. That fucker really needs to get laid.”

The whole room broke with laughter except for me, and Joe. I was blushing because I felt the effect that Matt was putting in. And remembering our encounter hours before, making my face even more heated.

I accidentally looked up and locked eyes with Joe. He was glaring at me but refused to linger.

“I’m out for a smoke.” He said suddenly and turned to the door. Since when did he smoke? He opened the door and almost bumping into a tall and muscular figure that I recognized from just the spreading tattoo on his arms. It was Matt.

They stood in front of each other like a mannequin. Frozen and eyes arching sharp into each other. Oh my God. Don’t fight here. Don’t fight ever!

“Excuse me.” After a long staring battle between them, Joe excused himself and slid through the doorframe leaving Matt standing there.

“Yo, Johnny Christ. We gotta go.”

Johnny got up from his seat and hugged me, and shook hands with the rest. “See ya, Lzzy. Guys.”

“See ya, Johnny.”

Johnny went past the door and I saw Matt looking back at me and smiled. I instantly melted seeing his dimples, then he made it worse when he winked.

“You seem a little tense, Lzzy. Are you okay?”

“Huh?” I glanced around and found Wesley was massaging my back like I’m Sylvester Stallone in Rocky.

“Yeah, sis. Just loosen up a little. You need to make amends with that guy.”

“Seriously, what happened between you and that hot, buff guy, Lzzy? I’m new so fill me in.” Wesley scoffed, hands on her hips.

“Nothing. And don’t poke your nose into somebody else’s business.”

Wesley rolled her eyes. “No wonder you guys are siblings.”

I chuckled and felt a bit relieved because they still didn’t know that we made amends just hours ago. In fact, we made more than amends.

~*.*~

“Hello, guys. Welcome to That Metal Show. Wow, can’t believe I’m interviewing six amazing bands in one night!”

“Yeah, lucky you.” We nodded and smiled at Eddie. Eddie and we go way back, as he was the one who helped us getting all the attention when we were climbing up our way to the top. Joe was sitting next to RJ, still avoiding me when he usually would sit next to me in interviews.

“So how was Rock On The Range?”

“Pretty awesome so far. Crazy crowd.” RJ answered.

“What was the most unbelievable thing that happened to you guys during this festival?”

Oh my. There’s just too many. Me breaking up with Joe, reconciled with Matt, agreed to his dating offer and being here. But I wasn’t gonna take up that question. I let Josh answered it.

“Basically the crowds and friends that we met along the way. I can’t believe I’m finally shaking hands with Three Days Grace. They’re freaking awesome. I grew up with their songs and to be able to stand on the same stage as them is just, unbelievable.”

“I heard you guys go way back with Avenged Sevenfold. How was it, meeting them again?”

All of my band mates turned to look at me. They were expecting me to get this? I glanced at Joe who was staring at the floor, avoiding my eyes.

“It was - pretty amusing, to meet them again after years of not seeing each other. Or having a gig together. They’re a big name now and we’re so proud of them, so proud that we are acquainted with them.”

“Right. Since you guys broke through with your new album The Strange Case Of, you guys have been nominated in countless awards. Grammy, Golden Gods, MTV VMA, Kerrang Alt Press. Just what’s your secret formula?”

I laughed and looked at RJ. My eyes suddenly darted to Joe and I caught he was smiling at me. I smiled back at him and held the microphone closer to my mouth.

“The secret formula is, having your best friends around to pick you up when you fall, write songs together regarding that fall, have fun in writing it and you’re all set!”

They all nodded at me, agreeing with my answer.

“So Lzzy, you have been named as The Sexiest Chick in Metal by Revolver. Do you have some secret voters to vote for you or are you confident in winning it?”

We laughed at that question. What the hell. How should I know? I don’t even realize that I was nominated!

“Well, I’m sure that these guys voted for me like every fucking day on every fucking issue of that magazine. Ain’t that right guys?”

“Who else are gonna vote for you?” RJ replied and I laughed aloud, slapped his thigh.

“No but seriously. I don’t really think I could hold a title like that since I’m mostly out touring and performing my music instead of being - you know, sexy. But I’m grateful. It’s insane but it’s also an honor.”

“Awesome. You deserved it by the way.”

“Aww…thank you Eddie. These guys are always here, keeping me in check.”

Eddie laughed and so did all of my band mates, including Joe.

“Okay one last question from me, if you want to make a featuring with any singer from any band, who would you pick?”

“A duet you mean?”

“Yeah, something like that.”

I raised my eyebrows. A little startled with that question since I have always wanted to duet with Matt. A little secret I kept to myself.

“Um, we already collaborated with James Michael from Sixx:AM, and…I dunno. Lzzy?” RJ addressed to me. I looked up and chuckled nervously.

“I guess, I would say…M.Shadows. From Avenged Sevenfold.”

I saw Joe’s face fell and RJ was looking really surprised. Yeah well, they still think that Matt and I are fighting with each other.

“Interesting. You guys have amazing vocal range and you both can scream. I bet it’s gonna be awesome if you guys really do a collaboration and I bet the fans can’t wait!”

“Yeah, we hope so. But we can only hope.”

And with that the interview ended and so did the festival.

Notes

A/N: sooo the real Lzzy really wanted to do a collaboration with Matt..let's hope it will happen soon! XD
