Right Where I Belong

Elise’s POV

Tyler woke me up early this morning after we had spent all evening talking about what had happened in our life’s. He was a little shocked when I couldn’t tell him much besides my studying and he always looked at me with a look I couldn’t really identify I would say it was with regret but I wasn’t sure.

This morning I showered and got ready for my first day at work. Tyler told me he was the CEO at the real estate company which he founded with Mark and Collin two of his best friends a couple of years ago and by now they were the leading company around LA.
He was still one of the agency members who would show the houses to putative customers and he told me that he never wanted to change it, he loved to meet new people and he was an outgoing person so that fit his naturally really well. I didn’t know if I could do that, I was just too awkward around people, but maybe he could teach me how to be more outspoken just like him.

“Elli? You ready, we gotta go in 10 minutes.” Tyler called from downstairs.
“Yes, I am ready.” I called back.
I walked down and saw him sitting in his suit at the dining table, “Is this okay?” I motion to my dark jeans and the white blouse I was wearing.
“Yes, of course. We will just be in the office today, I will show you around and you can do a little customer work by phone. And tomorrow I’ll take you with me on some House showing, maybe you can do some of your own at the end of the traineeship.”
I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge, “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure, what is it?”
“Do you… I mean.. Are you living here alone?” I asked a little shyly.
I know my brother was old enough and he even had a girl back when we were still living with our parents, I guess he doesn’t knew that I saw him with her back then.
It was just a thought that stuck my mind that maybe I was interrupting his private life here as well.
“Do you mean if I have a girl living with me?” He smirked.
“Yes, do you have a permanent girlfriend?” I clarified.
“Not at the moment. But I will inform you when I will have a girl over so you won’t be too surprised.
And you, some nice college student I will have to kick out of my house for running after my little sister?” He joked or I hoped he joked.
“I.. no… you do know that there are no boys allowed.”
“Yes, Elli. But there are other ways… anyway… I shouldn’t open your eyes for that, so I will safe myself some trouble. So just promise me that you will also tell me if there is something going on, right?”
“Sure, I promise.” That was an easy promise to make since there were no boys at all in my life… I thought about my only boys encounter before the concert on Friday. Sometimes I caught myself still thinking about James and why he would be at our college on a Sunday… If he really had a girl there or sometimes I even fantasized that he might have wanted to visit me… I know that this was far from the truth but a girl could still fantasize.

Zacky’s POV

“So you wanna call them now and what are you searching for: a house or an apartment? Near the beach or what?” Jimmy asked me while I was looking for the telephone number of one of my old friends earning this real estate company.
“There it is… Collin and two of his friends own this company called TCM Real Estate and he told me if I was searching for something I should just give him a call. So… let’s try it.”
I called the number and waited, “TCM Real Estate, Collin James.”
“Colling, hey it’s me Zack. What’s up bro?”
“Hey.. Zack.. haven’t heard from you in a while! What can I do for you?”
“Oh.. I was searching for a new house and wanted to know if you could show me some of your offerings.”
“That is good to hear, so you and Gena finally want to move into a bigger house, right?”
“Well, no there is no Gena and me anymore… so I just want to move into a bigger house…”
“Oh wow… sorry man.”
“No problem. So do you have some time to show me something?”
“Zack, sure, we have some good offerings for you, I will just connect you to Tyler, I think you remember him, he will make an appointment with you and search for the perfect portfolio of houses.
That okay?”
“Yeah sure, just hand him over.” I waited while there was playing some music.
“What’s going on?” Jimmy asked over my shoulder.
“He connects me to his friend to make an appointment.” I replied and waited some more.

Elise’s POV

Tyler and I were sitting in his office, he had showed me around and introduced me to everyone.
I was so excited and they were all so nice to me that I really thought about Tyler’s offer to work here after my studying. But I had still two other job offers I had to check out properly before I would decide.
“Okay, so now you know what to do and can take the next call, okay?” Tyler said and I got nervous.
“What… I don’t know if I can do it.. I mean…” I began but we were interrupted by his phone and he looked at the caller and put on loudspeaker, “Yes, Collin?”
“Hey, Tyler… I got Zack on the line, old friend of mine he wants for us to show him some properties, I told him you would make an appointment soon, will ya?”
“Sure, thanks.”
“Okay, I will talk to him shortly and then you will do the rest, just ask him what he wants and make an appointment for tomorrow, can you do that?” Tyler asked with an encouraging smile.
“I’ll try.” I smiled back and waited for Tyler to begin.
“TCM, Tyler speaking.”
“Oh hey Tyler, It’s Zacky Baker, nice to hear from you.”
“Hey Zacky, Collin told me you are searching for a new house right? I will just hand you over to my assistant to get some details and then we make an appointment?”
“Sounds good.”
Tyler handed me the phone and I took a deep breath in and out and started, “Hello Mr. Baker, my name is Elise Warren. I just want to get some details form you so we can search for the right houses to show you.”
“You can call me Zack, honey.”
“I.. okay.. So Zack…” I began to stutter a little and got even more nervous. Why would he call me honey?
“Sorry… Okay… Hm… Zack, so are you searching for a house or an apartment?”
“Preferable a house.”
“Okay, in which area do you want us to search for you?”
“Huntington Beach”
I scribbled everything down and Tyler nodded approvingly at me.
“So you would like to have an estate right at the beach or isn’t that important?”
“If possible at the beach, yes.”
“Alright.”
“Should the house be furnished?”
“No, I will take care of that myself.”
“Alright, then I got all the information I needed for now. Would an appointment tomorrow at 11 fit into your day plan?”
“Yes, that’s perfect. Where do we meet?”
I looked over at Tyler and he took over the phone, “Thank you Elise”, he nodded at me and talked to the phone again, “I will send you an E-Mail later today with the first 2 Exposé and I will inform you at which we will meet first. If that is okay with you?”
“Yes, okay. Collin does have my Mail-Address so I am waiting for your Mail. See you tomorrow.”
“Thank you. Goodbye.” He hung up and looked at me with pride.
“You did an awesome job Elli.”
“Thank you. I was really nervous.”
“You will help me now search for the right objects to show the customer and then you will accompany me tomorrow to the showing, alright?”
“Oh yes, I would love to.” I grinned at him and we went right to work to find the right properties to offer tomorrow.

Jimmy’s POV

“And?” I looked at Zack and waited for his reply.
“Tomorrow at 11 we can look at the first house. He will send me later today the first exposés and then we gonna meet there tomorrow.” Zack replied and I could see that he was relieved and excited to start something new and I was glad for him.
But I wouldn’t make this easy on him, the houses must withstand the Jimmy test and that wasn’t easy to pass.
“Should we call the others and head over to your old apartment, get your things out?” I asked him, so that chapter he could close as well.
“Yeah… that’s a good idea. Get all my things out before she gets some stupid ideas or something.”
“Okay, I’m gonna call Matt and Johnny” I replied and was already flipping through the numbers in my phone.
“Good, I’ll call Brian.”

After 20 minutes we were meeting at Zack’s old apartment, Gena’s car wasn’t there, so she wouldn’t cause any scene.
Zack opened the door and let us in, there were already cartons standing with Zack’s name on it.
Zack walked to one of the cartons and looked inside, “Oh wow, this gonna be easier than I thought.”
“Yo, Zee… here is a note for you.” Brian called from the kitchen.
“Read it…” Zack replied.
“Naahhh man, I think this is just for your eyes.” Brian wanted to hand it over but Zack shoved it back at him, “Just read it aloud, gods damn it.”
“Alright alright,
Dear Zack,
I’m sorry that I didn’t have the courage to tell you that it’s over. I regret that you saw me that way with someone else.
Anyways, we both knew that our relationship wasn’t getting anywhere.
But we should have ended it properly. I don’t regret the time we spend together and you will always be part of my past. Maybe someday we can be friends.
I packed your stuff up and I won’t be in the city this week.

Gena” Brian finished.
“I’m sorry man.” Matt replied and clapped him on the shoulder.
“Nothing to be sorry for, she is right, we both knew we were getting nowhere. So it’s better this way… Just get the carton’s out, I will take a look in the wardrobe if really everything’s out and then we can get drunk… Because I know I need something to drink after this.”

Brian, Matt and Johnny grabbed the first carton’s and went out I also grabbed one and took one look at Zack he looked at the note, then scrambled it in his fist and threw it in the trash, he really was done with her.
