Right Where I Belong

Jimmy’s POV

I was excited to see Elise again and wanted to know how she would react when she saw me there. And I needed to ask her, where she would be going for the internship so I could visit her.
I looked one last time into the mirror and checked my outfit.



I couldn’t find my favorite sunglasses I must have lost them somewhere. So I just went without them I was satisfied with my look and I chose a long-sleeved jacket to look a little more formal then when all my tattoos would show off.
And I didn’t want to shock Elise too much

I arrived after a 2 hour drive at her college again and parked before the gates. I looked around and saw a car only a few feet away, the windows were tinted black so I couldn’t really look in but I noticed two people inside they were hugging. I walked a little closer and when the engine started I could have sworn that Elise was sitting inside that car with a guy but… that couldn’t be true… I still had my appointment… so I turned back around and walked towards the gates and over to the secretary room like they had told me.

“Hello, I’m James Sullivan I called yesterday to make an appointment with my… cousin Elise.” , I smiled at the young woman behind the counter.
“Oh… Mr. Sullivan, yes… but Elise just left a couple of minutes ago. I’m sorry I couldn’t reach her yesterday but I informed her roommate to relay the message of your visit.”
“What do you mean, she left… where did she leave? And when will she be back?” I asked and knew I sounded a little distressed. I really just drove 2 hours over here and she wasn’t here…
“She already left for her internship but Mr. Sullivan I am not allowed to tell you anything else.” , she shook her head in denial.
“And what can I do now?” I asked her with a frown.
“You can make a new appointment when she gets back from the…”
“When she gets back, when would that be?” I interrupted her and was getting angry.
“A few weeks…” she said quietly.
“WHAT? A FEW FUCKING WEEKS?” I yelled.Shit, I had to control myself, “I’m sorry… I was just so excited to finally see Elise again… and… drove over here… gods damn it… I’m sorry again. Can you at least tell me where she is doing the internship, please? This little information can stay between us, you know?!” I winked at her and tried with all my charm to coax her to tell me at least a little bit more.
“I’m sorry Mr. Sullivan. I really can’t tell you more, that is not in my position.”
Okay, I don’t know what else I could do so I just accepted my fate and went outside.
I still don’t know why Elise wouldn’t leave my mind and why I felt this need to see her again, even if she doesn’t seem as interested in me as I was in her.

I went back to my car and prepared myself for the drive home.
When I arrived home I walked inside and Zack was lying on my couch zapping through the TV, “Hey… you are early? Didn’t meet the girl? Or didn’t let you inside the college?” Zacky tried to joke but I wasn’t in the mood for jokes.
“She wasn’t there…” I replied and let my jacket drop down on the side of the couch.
“But you made an appointment?!” Zack sat up straight.
“Yeah but she already left for a kind of traineeship or something, but I don’t know where or how long… Maybe I just have to forget about it and get on” I let myself also drop on the couch and stared at the TV.
“Yeah… women suck…” Zack replied.
“Hmm….” I closed my eyes and let my head drop back against the couch.
When I looked at the car at the parking lot and I first thought that it was Elise in that car, that really must have been Elise… and with her was a guy. I haven’t seen his face or anything, was that her boyfriend?
Gods, I shouldn’t be thinking about her anymore, this was ridicules.
“Hey, Jimmy… I will call tomorrow this real estate company to show me some houses or apartments, you care to join me when I go to a showing?” Zack asked me.
“Yeah sure, why not?! You talked with Gena again?” I asked him still with closed eyes.
“She called me… Guess what? She wanted to know when I will pick up the rest of my belongings! That’s it…” Zacky sounded mad but not crestfallen.
“You didn’t love her anymore, did you?” I asked him.
“No, I guess I didn’t. It was just… for both of us a waiting until the other made the decision to end it. But you know… I never cheated on her or anything… even if I had the chance and you know, the feelings weren’t like before, I never betrayed her… and that kinda hurts still, that she wasn’t honest and just broke it up and told me that she wants to see others… but shit, man… That’s life I guess. You don’t always get what you want, right?”
“Right..” Damn right he was.. And I had to forget about the blue eyes and plump read lips and that shy smile… Great, James… now you are exactly doing what you didn’t want to do… FUCK!
“Okay, gotta take a shower now… we talk tomorrow.”
“Okay, thanks Jimmy.”
“Don’t mention it.” I sighed and walked upstairs, I had planned this day so differently and now I was back at the beginning.

Elise’s POV

We arrived at my brother’s house and I stared at the front door for a couple of minutes.
“This is your house?” I asked him for the third time.
“Yes, like the 2 times before. And this is also yours, when you finally decide to go inside.”, he smiled and shoved me with a hand at my back inside.
“This is huge…” I only had this small room I was sharing with Samantha and after the concert I haven’t seen her at all. But I also tried to get out of her way I was still mad at her for letting me walk right into the trap but I didn’t know how I should react.
“Do you want to eat something or should I show you to your room?” Tyler asked.
“I would like to see my room, please.. if it is okay?” I still looked around the house.
“Gods, Elli, you don’t have to be so polite around me and… just talk normal for gods sake.” Tyler replied with a laugh.
“I should have never let you go to that college, they are ruining you…” He laughed even more.
“I.. I.. am sorry… I guess..”
“Oh okay, come on, we will get you a little loosen up later…” Tyler went with me upstairs and showed me the room at the end of the corridor.
“Here is your room for the next weeks. You got a bathroom directly adjoining and you have a nice balcony to the backyard. If you want to change anything, just tell me, alright?”
“Thank you, it’s perfect. And thank you for letting me stay here.”
“Oh Elli… I missed you. And I am sorry for not visiting often enough… but that will change I promise. Today we will just hang out here, alright and tomorrow I’m gonna take you to the company show you around and you will accompany during everything, that okay for you?” He hugged me to his side.
“Yes, that would be great.”
“Okay, now get settled. And just come down to the living room when you are ready. I’ll order us something to eat.”
“Okay, thank you.”
He closed the door behind me and I let myself drop down on the bed. I was excited what the next day would bring.
