After we were all significantly buzzed, we headed off into the living room. Brian popped an old movie into the DVD player and we all laid back to watch. After a good twenty-five minutes of watching, somehow the topic of relationships came up. All the guys talked about their gals which only caused me to feel a bit uncomfortable. They all sounded so beautiful and amazing, and I couldn't help but compare myself to each and every one of their girlfriends. I felt my eyes travel to the ground before I slid over to the sofa Brian was sitting on. I looked up and gave him a weak smile to let him now I was fine, but he sensed something was wrong with me. "That's the second fucking time today," I thought. "How the hell does he do it?!" I looked back to Zacky who was finishing up fawning about his relationship, when suddenly Brian spoke up.

"So I have a new girl in my life. Well, she's not necessarily my girl yet, but we'll see." he said, glancing towards me a bit. I felt my stomach tighten in huge knots and my face flush red. Okay, I'll admit it--I do sort of like Brian. By sort of, I mean I really like Brian. There's just something about him that I'm attracted to. That's why it took me by surprise when said what he said.

"Well do you mind at least telling us her name?" Matt egged on.

"Not yet." Brian replied, much to the groups dismay. "First I have to see if she feels the same. It's kinda sudden.."

Everyone nodded their heads understandingly as the movie played on. Towards the ending almost everone lost interest. Jimmy was half asleep, Brian was somewhat watching the movie, Zacky was busy texting Kenna and gushing on about a "surprise" she had for him, and Johnny--well Johnny was still drinking. Kimberly obviously wasn't going be too happy to see him. I turned to face the bigger couch to have a peek at what Matt and Val were up to, and I felt my stomach drop. They were lying there, Val sleeping in Matt's arms while he gently stroked her hair and pulled her as close as he could to him. He saw me looking and shot me a weak smile. I knew he was tired. Hell, we all were. The movie came to an end and Brian jumped up to stop it. Hearing the DVD come to a stop, everyone got up and started to go their separate ways. Zacky and Rev went home to their significant others while Matt and Val dropped Johnny off and headed to their place. Brian sprawled out across one couch after saying goodbye to everyone, and I sat on the other.

"Well," he started. "did you have fun tonight?"
"It wasn't half bad." I answered. "Your friends are really sweet, by the way."
"Yeah, they're a great group. Been with them since high school. We've all gone through a lot."
I could tell he had so much love for his friends by the tone in his voice.

"Well uh, I'm gonna head off to bed." I started.
"Same." he replied.

As we started for the staircase, I couldn't help but think about what he said to the group. It was eating at me, and I don't know why. I had to say something.

Standing outside my bedroom door, Brian crossed over to his room.
"Here's my chance." I thought.

"Hey uh, Brian?" I began. He turned and gave me a tired smile.
"Yeah?"
God, he was so adorable. I really wanted to ask him, but the words wouldn't come out. How would I know it was me? I mean, it could've been anyone. Defeated, I just told him goodnight.

"Goodnight." he replied, just before we each shut our doors.

"Yeah, 'good' night...."
