Seize The Day

We reached my house in a shorter time than I wanted. Tonight really was perfect and I didn’t really want it to end either, but I didn’t want Jimmy to get mad at Matt, and I still didn’t know about Zacky. We stood on the beach across the street from my house. “I probably shouldn’t go up there.” Matt said letting go of my hand, the night breeze taking away the warmth his hand left.
“Good idea.” I said looking up at him. “I had a lot of fun tonight Matt.” I said smiling up at him.
He looked down at me and cupped my face in his hands, “Good.” He whispered before leaning down and kissing me on the lips. The kiss was soft and sweet and when he pulled away I really wanted more. I knew Matt wasn’t soft and sweet, he was hot and passionate. “I’ll see you later.” He said winking and walking away.
I walked up to the road dusting my feet off and slipping my heels back on, I was nervous because as soon as I walked in the guys would notice I didn’t go to work because who wears a dress and heels to a bar. I walked up to the door I heard a burst of laughter, I swung open the door as casually as possible, throwing my keys into the little bowl we had next to the door. I turned around and all the guys were there, except for obviously Matt.
“Oh who are you looking hot for?” Brain asked winking at me.
“Obviously you love.” I said sarcastically blowing him a kiss. Jimmy and Johnny laughed and Brian had this dumb look on his face. My eyes landed on Zacky who was looking me up and down with a confused look.
“How was tonight?” Cassy asked from her spot between Jimmy and Brian.
I looked at her narrowing my eyes. “Fine…” I said watching her, I knew what she was going to do.
“Was he a good kisser?” She said winking.
“I’m going to smother you with a pillow Cassandra Jean.” I said walking back towards my room.
“You’re going to have to tell me!” She yelled from the living room.
I slammed my door and landed face first onto my bed, “Fucking perfect.” I mumbled into my comforter. I heard the door open behind me and shut again. “Don’t fucking talk to me Cass that wasn’t fair.” I said my voice muffled by the blanket.
“I’m not Cass.” A familiar voice said, ‘Shit’ I thought rolling over and sitting up to face Zacky. “Where did you go tonight?” Zack asked he looked hurt and I hated that I did this to him, we doing this, I didn’t want to give up on Matt because I knew what he was like, and I didn’t know Zacky.
“I went out on a date.” I said standing up taking my heels off and throwing them into my closet.
“With who?” Zack asked I could hear the hurt in his voice and my heart started to hurt.
“Just some guy Zack.” I said.
“Just some guy?” He asked I could hear anger bubbling up in his voice.
I turned around quickly. “He asked me out on a date before you did! So you have no right to get pissy with me! And it was just a date Jesus!” I yelled I didn’t want to yell but he was acting like I cheated. We were not together and I wasn’t about to let him think that just because we shared a bed for one night. Suddenly my bedroom door opened and Matt was standing there.
“Everything good?” He asked looking between me and Zack.
“Peachy.” I said glaring at Zack who glared back. Zack turned around and stalked back out to the living room.
“Are you sure everything is okay?” Matt asked concern filling his voice.
I ran a hand through my hair. “Matt we need to talk.” I said looking up at him.
“About what?” he asked sitting on my bed.
“Zack also asked me out on a date, and I don’t really want to give up on either of you. But I don’t want to have you two fighting.” I said looking at him, he looked surprised.
“Does he know it was me you went out with tonight?” he asked, standing up.
“No, and judging by his reaction I wouldn’t tell him right now.” I said looking out towards the living room where everyone was talking quietly looking at Zack who was slouching and looked pissed.
Matt followed my stare, “Maybe we don’t tell him it was me tonight, and you go out with him, if he still wants to. I won’t ask you out again until you know Zack.” Matt said.
I looked up surprised. “Matt-“
He cut me off by raising his hand, “I know you and you know me, pretty well.” He said smiling at the last bit. “I won’t be super hurt if you end up picking Zack he’s a great guy and he really deserves to be happy.” Matt said still smiling. I hugged him, he was so sweet but I still had to give Zack a fair chance even if he was being a giant ass tonight. “And I’ll try not to get to jealous.” Matt whispered into my hair. We released each other and I caught a glimpse of Zack we was watching me and Matt. I looked back at Matt who was smiling at me.
“It is now time for you to exit my room dear sir so I may change.” I said pushing him out of my room. He laughed and leaned back on me. “Matt wait don’t you’re going to crush me!” I squealed pushing harder, he laughed harder and straightened up and walked towards the living room.
You’re such an ass!” I yelled before closing my room door and I heard him laugh again.
I slid off my dress and grabbed some sweats and a tank top and put them on. I brushed out my hair and put it up in a ponytail. When I walked back out into the living room they had put in ‘Tangled’ “You bitches couldn’t wait for me?” I asked, I walked towards Cassy who stood up, I sat down and she sat in my lap.
“You were taking too long.” Cassy said was I wrapped my arms around her waist and she slid down to get comfortable, I rested my chin on her head.
“You two sicken me.” Brian said looking at us.
“You’re just jealous because you have no one to cuddle.” Johnny said from his spot in our lazy boy.
“So true Johnny Boy.” Brain said getting up and plopping himself into Johnny’s lap.
“Oh come on get off.” Johnny yelled trying to push Brain off. All the guys laughed except Zacky who just started and the screen.
“SHHHHHHH” Cassy said throwing a pillow at them. “I’m trying to watch a movie.” The both mumbled sorry and Brian slid to the floor. We finished Tangled and everyone was relatively tired. They all decided to stay here.
“We don’t have enough pillows and blankets for you.” I said looking down at them Jimmy claimed the entire couch and Johnny claimed the lazy boy leaving Zacky, Brian, and Matt to sleep on the floor.
“Well you two could share a bed with one of us.” Brian said winking at Cassy, she giggled and I got defensive.
“You touch her Gates and I’ll cut it off.” I said, Brian had a reputation and Cassy wasn’t a good friend with benefits person because she got attached easily, and he would only break her heart.
“Defensive.” Brain said putting his hands up.
“Well we could share a bed and two of them could sleep in my room.” Cassy said.
“I don’t want to share a bed with either of these asshole.” Brain complained. I looked at Matt who smiled and punched him playfully while Zack still looked pissed off. Cassy looked at me and shifted her eyes to Zacky, she was right I needed to talk to him, tonight.
“I think we might have some extra blankets in the back of my Tahoe. Zack could you give me a hand?” I asked looking down at him.
“Don’t really feel like it.” He said not looking at me.
“Hey don’t be an asshole she’s letting us sleep on her floor.” Brian said pushing Matt into Zacky.
“Fine.” He mumbled. I grabbed my car keys and walked outside Zacky following me.
Once we reached my car I grabbed his shirt and slammed him into it. “You need to stop being such an ass right now.” I whispered angrily. He looked surprised at how strong I was. “It was one date Zack I went out to be nice.” I said taking my hands away from his chest.
“Is there something going on with you and Matt?” He asked looking down at me.
I looked him straight in the eye and said, “No he was being a good friend because you were being a dick.” I said it was true but also kind of not.
He looked down I could see how guilty he look, “Sorry.” He whispered he pulled me into a hug I wasn’t expecting. I pulled away a little and looked into his eyes, they were such a bright green they were so beautiful.
I cleared my throat. “We should go back inside.” I said unlocking my car door and opening the back. I found one blanket that wouldn’t cover anyone but me or Cass. “Someone is not going to be so lucky.” I said closing the door. I turned to go inside when Zack grabbed my hand and turned me around, he pressed his lips to mine. I could feel the cool metal of his snake bites and the sweetness behind the kiss. He pulled away smiling and walked towards the house. Matt and Brian ended up sharing Cassy’s bed while Zack slept on the floor.
