Seize The Day

I woke up the next morning with a strong arm wrapped around my waist. I smiled and stretched and rolled over to face Zacky. He looked super cute when he was asleep he looked kind of like a kid. I poked his nose and when I did he woke up. When he saw me he smiled and pulled me closer to him and kissed my forehead. “Good morning” he mumbled.
“Good morning.” I said smiling at him. Suddenly my door busted open and Cassy was standing there with her phone taking pictures of us. “Cass what are you doing?” I said string up looking at her in disbelief.
“Just a little reminder for tonight.” She had a wicked smile on her face, and then I remember last night when I told Matt I would go on a date with him. I groaned and slammed my body back into my bed.
“What’s wrong?” Zack asked he slid his hand up my side under the blanket.
“I have something going on tonight it’s nothing.” I said rolling away from him. “You should probably go I have to get ready for work.” I said, I looked at Cass and she shook her head knowing I didn’t work today. I just didn’t want Zacky here when my Matt came here.
“Oh okay.” Zack said looking down at his hands. Cassy turned and walked out of the room as I turned back to my closet picking out clean clothes. I picked up a pair of shorts when I felt arms wrap around my waist. “Zack,” I said not turning around.
“Kaylin I want to take you out tonight.” He said tightening his arms around my waist.
“I can’t I have work.” I said getting a bit annoyed.
“So afterwards.” He said pulling away and turning me around to face him. I couldn’t go out afterwards because what if Matt was here afterwards.
“Maybe another night.” I said smiling at him. He stuck his bottom lip out pouting. “Oh grow up Baker.” I said smiling and pushing him playfully.
“Okay, then tomorrow night.” He said grabbing my hand and pulling me towards him.
“Okay but I have work until six.” I said putting my hand on his chest and pushing away a little.
“Okay then I’ll pick you up at seven.” He said kissing my forehead and walking out of my room. “Oh I’ll wash these and bring them back.” He said turning and smiling at me one last time before leaving.
It was 4:30 and I was once again standing in front of my closet I had picked out a couple of outfits but I couldn’t decide which one to wear. “Cassy!” I yelled she popped her head into my room.
“Wassup?” She asked sitting on my bed.
“I don’t know which one to wear.” I said sitting down next to her staring into my closet. I had picked out a short tight red dress with gold strappy heels, a dark purple flowy dress with black heels, and an emerald green dress with silver heels.
“Hmmm, I say the emerald dress with the gold heels and that gold and black necklace you haven’t worn since freshman year.” She said standing up switching around the dresses.
“Okay, can you do my hair and make-up?” I asked looking her and smiling.
“I thought this wasn’t anything special.” Cassy said raising an eyebrow.
“It’s not but that doesn’t mean I can go out looking like shit.” I said getting a bit defensive. Matt asked me out first and I wasn’t going to be unfair to him.
“I think you should tell them though.” Cassy said sitting next to me.
“It’s one date.”
“What If it turns into more than one date?” Cassy asked. I pursed my lips, shit I thought. “Exactly.” Cassy said knowing I was now conflicted.
“Okay, if both dates go great then I’ll tell them.” I didn’t think that would be a good idea because then it would probably turn into a competition and get ugly and I didn’t want to ruin one of my favorite bands.
“Go shower so I can make you look purdy.” Cassy said smiling reassuringly. I showered quickly and let Cassy have her way with my hair and make-up. She did a green and gold smoky eye, and lightly curled my hair. By the time she was finished it was 5:50 I had ten minutes to get dressed and hopefully not change my mind about the dress. I heard the doorbell ring and Cassy went to answer it. I left my bathroom and changed into the dress. I bought it when I still had red hair but even with my dark brown and blonde hair it still looked good. it gave me some cleavage and hugged my body in all the right places making me look curvier than I really was. I slipped on my gold heels and put the necklace around my neck, and walked out to the living room. I smiled at what I saw Matt was in a red button down shirt and black jeans and some dress shoes. He had the dorkiest smile on his face and he had flowers. “I wasn’t aware this was going to be a super cheesy date.” I said smiling at him.
He blushed and handed me the flowers, “I uh.” He stuttered looking really embarrassed.
I smiled he was so cute. “Its okay.” I said taking the flowers and kissing his cheek.
“I’ll put those in flowers you guys go.” Cassy said taking the flowers and basically pushing us out the door. Matt opened the passenger door on his Cadillac SUV for me and I climbed in. While he was walking around to the driver side I got two texts from Cass, one was the picture of me and Zacky sleeping and the other one read
“Sorry the guys decided to come by for a movie night :/ -C”
Matt climbed in and started the car and drove off. I quickly texted Cassy back.
“What about Matt? –K”
“Idk he must have told them something. –C”
“Ask? –C”
I looked over at Matt he was concentrated on the road; he was unconsciously chewing on his lip ring. “Hey Mattie?” I was a bit uncomfortable but I wanted to know.
“What is it babe?” I hated it when guys called me Babe before we were officially a couple, but I brushed it off.
“Did the guys not invite you out tonight?” I asked watching his face.
“They did but I told them I had a hot date.” He smile at me showing off his dimples and winked.
“You didn’t say with who did you?” I asked nervous that if he did what Zacky’s reaction was.
“No, Jimmy would have murdered me.” He said shrugging; we turned into the parking lot of a small restaurant. He slid out of the driver’s seat and came around and opened my door.
He offered me his arm, “Wow how genatlman-ly,” I said giggling a little taking his arm.
“You are such a smartass.” He said smiling leading me into the restaurant.
“Reservations for Sanders party of two.” He said to the hostess.
She looked down and smiled, “Right this way Mr. Sanders.” She said leading us to a table on the patio. We were the only people out there. The table had a candle and a rose on it. Matt pulled out my chair as the Hostess set the menus on the table.
“Oh how romantic.” I said jokingly looking at Matt.
“I try.” Matt said smiling a little. We picked up the menu, turns out the place was Italian, my favorite, our waitress came by and Matt ordered a bottle of wine. The waitress looked at me skeptically so I pulled my fake I.D. out of my clutch and showed it to her. I didn’t get carded very often because I’ve always looked old than I really was even when I was 12 people thought I was 17. We filled in with small talk until the waitress came back with the wine and took our food orders.
“So how do you like California so far?” Matt asked leaning forward and taking a sip of his wine.
“I like, I’ve always wanted to live in California ever since I was little.” I said picking up my glass and taking a sip, surprisingly it was very good wine. I wasn’t much of a wine drinker.
“Really? Why California?” He asked looking at me.
I met his eyes they were golder than usual because of the candle light. “I love the beach and warm weather.” I said.
“Then why not Florida?” He asked taking another sip.
“Grandparents live there and I can’t really stand them.” I said taking a big gulp of wine. Our waitress appeared with our food, we talked little while we ate. Matt paid the bill and we walked out of the restaurant. It was only 8:30 and I didn’t want to go home because the guys were probably still there. Matt opened my door and I climbed in, when he climbed into his side I looked at him. “Do you want to go to the beach?” I asked smiling.
At first he looked surprised but then smiled. “Sure.” He said starting the car and pulling away and turning towards the beach. He pulled into a parking spot by the pier and we got out. We were a little too close to my house but I doubt they would be looking outside. I took off my shoes and walked towards the sand, Matt followed suit. He grabbed my hand and laced our fingers together. I looked up at him and he smiled down at me. We walked along the beach and past my house, the lights were on. I walked a bit quicker and Matt gave a quizzical look. “Jimmy.” I said and then started to walk faster as well. Once we were farther away he slowed down.
“It’s nice out tonight.” Matt said looking up at the clear sky. You could see some stars but not many.
“That’s one thing I miss about Montana.” I said looking up. “I miss seeing all the stars.”
“Wait I thought you were from Maryland.” He said looking down at me.
“I moved to Maryland the end of my freshman year of high school.” I said so glad to be away from Maryland.
“Ah,” Matt looked back up at the stars; he looked really cute kind of child like. HE sat down suddenly pulling me down with him.
“Hey!” I said lading hard on my ass.
Matt laughed, “Sorry.” He said smiling at me.
“God you really are a pain in my ass.” I said rubbing the side of my butt. Matt lost it and started laughing really hard. “Okay, okay I know I’m hilarious but it wasn’t that funny.” I said smiling and pushing him over playfully. We sat on the beach for a long time talking about nothing. I told him stories of when I lived in Montana and Maryland, and in return he told me stories of his high school days and tour stories. Matt pulled me closer to him so I was resting my head on his shoulder, he then started to lean into kiss me when my phone vibrated in my hand and I looked down to see a text from Cassy.
“They guys are wondering where you are its 12. –C”
“Oh shit,” I said texting her back saying I would be home in ten minutes.
“What’s wrong?” Matt asked he looked a bit embarrassed and sad that I just brushed off our almost kiss.
“They guys are wondering where I am I should go home.” I said meeting his eyes.
“Oh okay,” He said he looked really sad.
“What’s wrong Mattie.” I asked touching his arm.
“I…. I was just having a lot of fun, and I-“ He paused rubbing the back of his neck and looking at the ground, “I just didn’t really want this night to end.” He said looking back to me.
My heart fluttered a little, he looked like a little kid that you just said no to buying candy for. “Maybe some other night.” I said smiling taking his hand as we started to walk back towards my house.
