Seize The Day

It had been a few days since my day at the pier with Austin and I haven’t stopped thinking about what he said. Zacky hasn’t even called or sent a message in days, and I know they aren’t that busy with the studio because I’ve seen Brian and Jimmy, and Brian calls Cassy every night. “Kay aren’t you going to be late?” Cassy called from the living room.
“No I still have some time.” I said sitting up from my bed, I felt like shit I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in three days. I stood up and pulled on a pair of skinny jeans and a tank top with a pair of converse.
“Holy hell you look horrible.” Cassy said as I walked out of my room into the living room. I was aware of the bags and dark circles under my eyes. “Is it that hard for you to sleep in an empty bed?” She asked standing up.
“No that’s not it there’s just a lot on my mind.” I said sliding my jean vest on. “I’m going to work I’ll see you later.”
“Wait should you really go to work like this?” Cassy asked grabbing my arm. She looked concerned and I hated making her worry about me.
“Don’t worry Cass I’m fine it’s just the opening shift the bar will be dead.” I said smiling at her, she let go of my arm. “Is there anything you want me to make for dinner tonight?” I asked standing in the door.
“No the guys aren’t in the studio today so Brian is taking me out.” She sounded reluctant like she didn’t want to tell me that. She knew Zacky hadn’t called me and that he hadn’t picked up any of my calls.
“Oh, that sounds fun,” I smiled I didn’t know what was going on with Zacky I hadn’t done anything to piss him off, “Well I’m off.” I said closing the door.

“Ah good morning Kay.” Johnny said when I opened the door to the bar.
“Morning boss.” I said setting my bag down on the bar and sitting on one of the stools. Johnny was rearranging the liquor bottles behind the bar.
“I have a doctor’s appointment today so you’ll be on your own for a while is that okay?” Johnny said turning around and smiling at me. “Oh damn are you okay?”
“I’m fine I wish people would stop pointing out how bad I look.” I said leaning back in the bar stool.
“Sorry sweetie you look like the one that should be going to the doctor not me.” Jonny laughed dryly.
“It’s all good, should I turn on the sign?” I asked sliding off the stool.
“Please, and I’ll be leaving now.” Johnny said. I flipped on the Open neon sign and put my bag underneath the bar. I was pouring myself a glass of water when I heard the bell over the door ring signifying someone coming in.
“Welcome to Johnny’s Saloon what can I get you.” I said turning around to face the customer, “Oh Matt.” He was standing there in a white t-shirt and camo cargo shorts with a baseball cap.
“Hey you’re working today.” He said smiling removing his sun glasses and sitting on one of the stools in front of me.
“And you’re not.” I said turning and grabbing a bottled beer for him.
“Everyone needs a day off.” He said smiling when I handed the beer to him. “How’d you know what I want?”
“You never order anything else.” I said leaning back against the liquor counter. “How’s you’re album coming along?” I asked grabbing my glass of water.
“Good, we should be done soon. What have you been doing with your freedom from us?” He asked taking a sip of his beer.
“Working.” It has been a while since I was alone with Matt and Austin’s words floating around in my head it felt weird.
“That’s it? Working haven’t gone out?” Matt asked taking off his baseball hat.
“Yup, you guys have been busy in the studio so Zacky hasn’t been around.” Matt stopped his beer half way to his mouth, he looked shocked. “What why do you look so shocked?” With his reaction I suddenly felt anxious, why hadn’t Zacky called me? What if he was cheating? What if he wanted to break up?
“I mean yeah the studio but we haven’t been that busy that you two wouldn’t be able to see each other or whatever.” Matt said setting his beer down.
“After I left that day did Aaron come back? Did he say anything to Zacky?” I asked standing up putting hands on the bar bracing myself for whatever Matt would say. If Aaron had said something I was going to find him a knock him out.
“He came back did what was asked of him and then left again. Seriously right after we finished up that day he left.” Then what the hell was Zacky’s issue Cassy said he was worried but he definitely wasn’t acting like it.
“Then what the fuck.” I whispered under my breathe but Matt still heard it.
“Hmm? What was that?” Matt asked leaning forward. I pushed off the bar.
“He hasn’t called me in a week. I haven’t seen him once in a fucking week.” I said throwing my hands up. “Like what kind of boyfriend does that?! He hasn’t answered any of my messages.” Matt looked even more surprised, I couldn’t tell if it was because of my outburst or if he really had no idea about the growing distance between Zacky and I.
“Wait he hasn’t even called you?” Matt asked standing up. He pulled his phone out of his pocket. “I’ll be right back.” He said walking towards the door.
“Wait Matt don’t call him.” I said leaning over the bar grabbing the back of his shirt.
“Why shouldn’t I? I gave up on you for him he may not know that but this is still not okay.” Matt said pulling away and walking outside. I watched him through the window. At first he was calm and it looked like a regular conversation but then Matt’s face changed and he looked pissed and he started yelling. I wanted to go out and stop him because people walking on the street were staring but before I could go outside Matt shoved his phone back in his pocket and came back inside. “I’m going to go how much for the beer?” He said digging his wallet out.
“Oh uhm it’s on the house.” He looked beyond pissed. “Uhm what,” I paused, “What happened?”
“Don’t worry about it for now.” Matt said he kissed my head before he left. How the hell was I supposed to not worry about this I’ve been worrying for a week and this made me worry even more.
