Until The End

Its Almost Easy

The next morning, Daphne woke up to her cell-phone ringing from beneath her pillow. Groaning, she reached under her pillow and grabbed her phone. Not bothering to look at the caller ID, she flipped it open and pressed it to her ear.

Daphne- Hello?

??- Where the fuck did you take my daughter?

Daphne gasped and shot up.

Derek- Answer me!

Daphne-…I’m not telling you where we are.

Derek- Don’t act like I’m stupid! I know for a fact you’re in California, but I don’t know who you’re staying with. Now make this easier on yourself and get your ass back here and I just might forgive you for stealing thousands of dollars from me!

Daphne- We’re not coming back Derek.

Derek- Fine then, I warned you. I will find you Daphne and I will take my daughter back.

Daphne- You can’t take her from me Derek! You’re unstable and you might hurt her!

Derek- I will take her you little bitch! I’m the only one who can take care of her!

Daphne- I can take care of her!

Derek- You can’t even take care of yourself! I’ve been taking care of you since you moved to New York! You’ll never make it on your own let alone with my daughter. You’re so fucking pathetic!

Daphne cursed herself as a sob escaped her lips.

Daphne- That is not true.

Derek- You know it is! Now trust me you bitch, I will find you and I will make you regret all of this.

The line went dead before Daphne could reply. Sobs racked her body as she threw her phone on the bed. She hugged her knees to her chest and hysterically cried into them. Frowning, Misty walked from Daphne’s doorway and to the stairs. She wobbled down them and padded into the living room to find Matt and Jade watching TV.

“Hey Misty!” Jade smiled.

“Hi,” Misty muttered.

“What’s wrong?” Matt frowned as he picked her up and settled her on his lap.

“Mommy’s sad,” she frowned as she rested her head against his shoulder.

“Why do you say that babe?” Jade asked.

“She was crying a lot.”

Matt sighed and went to stand.

“Let me talk to her, I think she’d rather talk to me about him than you,” Jade shrugged.

“Good point, let me know if you need anything,” Matt told her.

She nodded and got up. She walked upstairs and into Daphne’s room. Frowning at the sight, she wordlessly walked inside and sat next to her.

“What’s wrong sweetie?” she asked as she tightly hugged Daphne.

“He wants to take her from me,” Daphne sobbed as she clung to Jade.

“What? Why?” Jade frowned.

“He says I’m not capable of taking care of her. God what if he’s right Jade?” Daphne cried.

“You know he’s not right Daph. You did what was best for Misty and brought her here. That’s pretty admirable Daph. I don’t know what Derek did, but it must’ve been pretty bad if you took her away from him. You did the right thing Daph; you’re a wonderful mom,” Jade smiled lightly.

“Really?” Daphne sniffled.

“Of course babe; ask anyone. Misty adores you and she’s grateful for everything you’ve done for her. People are blind if they can’t see how much you love that little girl!” Jade exclaimed.

“I can’t even stand the thought of him taking her away from me,” Daphne shuddered.

“That’s not going to happen honey. Matt, the guys and I will do anything we can to keep him away from you two. You’re home now Daph, we’ll take care of you, I promise,” Jade smiled.

“Thanks Jade,” Daphne smiled lightly as she tightly hugged her.

“No problem babe. Now no offense, but you look like shit so you might want to take a shower,” Jade smiled sheepishly.

“Gee thanks,” Daphne laughed lightly as she pawed at her eyes.

“You love my honesty, I’ll see you downstairs,” Jade smiled as she skipped out.

Daphne sighed and got up. She walked over to her closet and pulled out a dress and walked into the bathroom. After taking a long shower, she brushed her teeth and combed through her hair. She blow-dried it and put in her many hair products before getting dressed. She walked back into her room and saw Misty sitting on her bed.

“Hey baby,” she smiled as she leaned down and kissed her head.

“Are you okay mommy?” Misty asked.

“Yeah, I’m okay now babe. I think we have to talk,” Daphne sighed as she sat next to her.

“About what?” Misty asked.

“Well we’re going to be living here now,” Daphne started.

“We are?” Misty asked excitedly.

“Yeah, we’re going to stay with Uncle Matt and Aunt Jade until I can get us a place of our own,” Daphne smiled.

“Is daddy coming?” Misty asked.

Daphne sighed and blinked back her tears.

“Uh, no baby. Mommy and daddy aren’t together anymore. Daddy’s staying in New York,” Daphne muttered.

“Will I see him again?” Misty asked.

“I don’t think so baby. I don’t want him to hurt your feelings like he hurt mine.”

Misty nodded and sniffled.

“Come here baby,” Daphne muttered and she tightly hugged Misty.

“We’ll be okay Misty; I promise,” she whispered.

“I love you mommy,” Misty muttered.

“I love you too baby,” Daphne smiled.

“Now how about we go see your grandparents?” she asked.

Misty smiled and nodded. After getting her bathed and ready, they walked downstairs and into the kitchen.

“Mattie!” Daphne sang.

“What do you want?” he smirked.

“Can you drive us to mom and dad’s?” she grinned.

“You really need to get a car,” he grumbled as he got up and grabbed his keys.

“I need to get my license first Matt,” she laughed.

“I want to go!” Jade exclaimed as she jumped down from the counter.

“You’re not even dressed!” Daphne laughed.

“Honey your parents have seen me in worse than this!” Jade scoffed as she slipped on a pair of slippers.

“Can we go now? I’m still tired!” Matt whined.

“Oh come on you big baby!” Daphne huffed as she pushed him towards the door.

They all walked out to Matt’s truck and made their way across town.

“Are you guys coming in?” Daphne asked as they pulled up to the house.

“Of course! I haven’t seen my favorite parents in forever!” Jade smiled.

“I’m tired!” Matt whined.

“Get in the damn house!” Daphne scolded as she got out of the car.

After getting out of the car, they made their way up the driveway and into the house.

“Mom?” Matt called.

“Kitchen!” Kim called back.

Smiling, Daphne bounded into the kitchen and walked up behind her.

“Hmm, let me guess; Jade?” Kim asked when Daphne covered her eyes.

“Guess again!” Daphne sang.

Gasping, Kim spun around to face her.

“Oh my God!” she yelled as she tightly hugged her.

“Hey momma!” Daphne smiled.

“What are you doing here? Why didn’t you call me?” Kim smiled.

“Misty and I moved here. We’re staying with Matt until I can get a place,” Daphne shrugged.

“You moved back! Oh my God I’m so happy!” Kim exclaimed as she tightly hugged her again.

“Oh my God! Misty!” she exclaimed as she looked down at her granddaughter standing behind Daphne.

Misty smiled up at her and waved.

“You got so big!” Kim smiled as she knelt down and tightly hugged her.

“You are so pretty!” she smiled as she picked her up and settled her on her hip.

She walked over to the basement door and yanked it open.

“Gary, get up here! Our girls are home!” she yelled down.

“You know your son is here too!” Matt pouted as he walked into the kitchen.

“Hey sweetie,” Kim smiled as she kissed his cheek and Jade’s cheek.

Gary bounded up the steps and smiled when he spotted Daphne and Misty.

“Its about damn time you came home baby girl,” he smiled as he tightly hugged her.

“Hi daddy!” Daphne smiled.

“Hi grandpa!” Misty smiled.

“Hey baby,” Gary smiled as he kissed Misty’s forehead.

“God I feel unloved!” Matt whined.

“Hey Matt, hey Jade,” Gary laughed.

“So where’s Derek at?” Kim asked.

Daphne let out a breath and looked to the floor.

“We broke up,” she muttered.

“Why? You two were so perfect for each other,” Kim frowned.

“Apparently we weren’t mom,” Daphne sighed as she slumped down in a chair.

“What about Misty?” Kim asked as she covered Misty’s ears.

“She knows the basics of what’s going on,” Daphne told her.

“Well how will Derek see her though?”

“He won’t.”

“Daphne!” Kim scolded.

“Mom I don’t want him hurting her! I can’t trust him,” Daphne scowled.

“Just because you two have your differences doesn’t mean you can separate Misty from her father! You need to stay together for her,” Kim insisted.

“I can’t mom, he could hurt her,” Daphne muttered.

“He won’t do that! Just forgive him for whatever he’s done and call it a day. Its easy Daph,” Kim pressed.

“No its not mom,” Daphne said through gritted teeth.

“It really is, do it for her,” Kim pushed.

“Mom can I just please raise my daughter the way I want to?” Daphne spat.

An awkward silence filled the room.

“Okay so how about we go grab some lunch?” Gary suggested.

“We’d love to dad, but we need to get home while we still have the house to ourselves,” Matt winked over at Jade.

“Kill me,” Daphne gagged.

“Alright, we’ll see you two later,” Kim smiled as they made their way out of the house.

Daphne and Misty got in the back of Gary’s car and the four drove off into town. Gary parked in front of a well-known diner and they made their way inside. As they went to find a table, they passed a familiar couple in the middle of a heated argument.

“Hey you two! Its been forever!” Kim smiled, breaking their tension.

“Hey guys! Why don’t you sit with us?” Brian smirked.
