Until The End

There's Still Some Caught Up In The Past

The next morning, Daphne woke up to the smell of something cooking. She sat up and stretched before walking into the bathroom. She did her business and washed her hands. She brushed her teeth and pulled her hair up before walked out. She let a quiet yawn escape her lips as she walked to Misty’s room. She peered inside and smiled lightly when she found her still sleeping. Deciding to let her sleep a bit longer, she quietly shut the door and walked towards the stairs. She trotted down them and walked into the kitchen and find Jade making breakfast.

“Morning sis!” Jade smiled.

“I do not understand how you can be such a happy morning person,” Daphne muttered.

“All of you Sanders’ are so grumpy in the morning,” Jade muttered.

“I only am if I don’t have coffee,” Daphne grinned as she poured herself a cup.

“So what are your plans now that you’re here in Huntington?” Jade asked as she continued cooking.

“Well I want to start job-searching soon so I can make enough money to get a place of my own,” Daphne shrugged.

“You know you two can stay with us for as long as you want. We love having you!”

“We love you guys too, but I want to start fresh as soon as possible.”

“Fresh smesh, you’re never leaving me!” Jade shouted.

“Can I ask you something completely off topic?” Daphne asked as she bit her lip.

“Sure, what’s up?” Jade asked.

“Does Brian ever ask about me?”

Jade sighed.

“No, not really. You can tell he feels really bad about what happened the night before the funeral though. He still had no right whatsoever to go off you on you, but he does regret it. Before the wedding he would ask about you every now and then,” she muttered.

Her eyes widened as she realized she said too much.

“Wedding?” Daphne shrieked.

“Uh…”

“Who’s wedding?” Daphne asked.

“Fuck I said too much,” Jade cursed.

“Who’s wedding Jade?” Daphne asked sternly.

“Brian and Zoey’s,” Jade muttered.

“They got married?” Daphne asked.

“Yeah, we all tried to convince Brian to invite you but he just wouldn’t listen! The girls and I begged him but he’s just so stubborn!” Jade huffed.

“We’ve been friends since I was five years old and he didn’t even invite me to his God damn wedding! He’s so pathetic!”

“Maybe he felt guilty about what he said to you.”

“He still could’ve told me about the wedding. There’s no excuse for him not telling me. We were best friends!” Daphne exclaimed.

“I know honey, and I’m sorry,” Jade muttered.

“This is so unforgivable Jade. He’s unbelievable!” Daphne spat.

“What are we talking about?” Matt yawned as he walked into the kitchen.

“I told her about Brian’s wedding,” Jade muttered.

Matt’s eyes widened.

“I’m sorry Daph. We all tried to get him to call you,” Matt reassured.

“How long have they been married?” Daphne asked.

“A little over a year,” he muttered.

“I can’t believe him,” she scowled.

The three remained silent as Jade continued cooking breakfast.

“Mommy?” they heard Misty called.

“We’re in here Misty!” Matt called.

Misty padded into the kitchen and ran straight at Daphne. Despite her ill mood, Daphne smiled widely and caught Misty in her arms. No matter what kind of mood she was in, Misty could always make her feel better.

“Morning baby!” she smiled as she pressed a kiss to her cheek.

“Did you sleep okay?” she asked.

Misty smiled and nodded.

“You are right in time for breakfast little lady,” Jade smiled as she dished out everyone’s breakfast.

“Thank you Aunt Jade!” Misty smiled.

“You’re welcome pumpkin,” Jade smiled.

“Johnny’s apparently having a barbecue today,” Matt announced as he read over a text.

“Can I go?” Misty asked.

“You don’t even know who Johnny is,” Daphne laughed.

“She needs to meet them though so you both are going. Oh and Daph the guys kind of don’t know you’re here yet. I figured you wanted to surprise them,” Matt grinned.

“You know me so well big brother,” Daphne laughed.

“You know Brian and Zoey are going to be there so you can just ignore them,” Jade reassured.

“We’ll see how that goes,” Daphne sighed.

***

A few hours later, the four of them were climbing into Matt’s truck to head over Johnny’s.

“Are you excited to see everyone?” Jade asked.

“Most of them,” Daphne smirked.

“Don’t cause a scene Daph,” Matt pleaded.

“Causing a scene is what I do best Matthew,” she smiled.

“And she deserves to cause one so let her have it,” Jade defended.

“Women,” Matt scoffed.

“Shut it, you’re living with three women now,” Jade smirked.

“I’m going to die,” he huffed.

Daphne laughed lightly as they pulled up in front of Johnny’s. Matt and Jade led the way inside. Outback, Johnny, Brian and Zacky were surrounded around the grill with beers in their hands. The girls were busy sitting by the pool.

“Guys I found a fan outside, she wants an autograph,” they heard Matt announce.

Johnny and Zacky turned to him.

“Is she of age?” Brian smirked, not looking away from the food he was grilling.

The guys laughed.

“Tell her she can come in,” Johnny called.

“I wonder if she’s hot,” Zacky muttered.

“Oh my God, I love you guys!” Daphne smirked as she walked out of the house.

Brian's head snapped up from the grill. He didn’t even have to turn around to see who it was; he knew that voice from anywhere.

“Daphne fucking Sanders!” Zacky exclaimed as he quickly strode over to her and scooped her up in his arms.

“Its about damn time you came home!” Johnny smirked.

“I missed you guys!” Daphne giggled as she hugged them.

Brian felt his heartbeat quicken as he slowly turned around. His jaw dropped as he took in her appearance. She was more beautiful than he ever remembered. Her bleach blonde hair fell over her shoulders and stopped right beneath her breasts. Her grayish blue eyes brightened as she animatedly talked to everyone. The tank top she was wearing hugged her every curve and her tan legs seemed to go on for miles. Her pearly whites shined as she smiled widely and her famous Sanders’ dimples defined her face.

“God damn she’s hot,” he muttered, nearly moaning.

He felt a wave of guilt wash over him as he remembered their last encounter. He felt terrible regret ever since that day. He also regretted not inviting her to his wedding.

“Maybe she didn’t hold a grudge,” he thought.

He hesitantly strode over to the group and stood beside Zacky. Daphne caught sight of him and her eyes widened.

“Uh, hey Daph,” he smiled.

“Don’t talk to me you fucking douchebag!” she barked.

Brian’s jaw dropped. In all the years he’s known her, she never said anything like that to him nor has she ever been hostile towards him. She shoved past him and walked towards the girls with Misty in tow.

“You so deserved that!” Johnny laughed.

***

Brian watched Daphne as she splashed around in the pool with the girls. He watched as she played with Misty and got into a splash fight with Sadie, Abby and Jade. He looked across the pool and saw his wife lying in a lounge chair. He cursed to himself as he compared her to Daphne. Daphne had curves in all the right places; Zoey was stick thin. Daphne had a real tan; Zoey paid for hers using his credit card. He also gawked over how big and natural her breasts were. Zoey had work done on her chest and of course she used his credit card to pay for it.

“So what; are Daphne and Misty living here now?” he asked Matt, not taking his eyes off of Daphne.

“Yeah, they’re staying with me until Daphne can get a place of her own,” Matt told him.

“What about Derek?” Brian asked.

“They broke up,” Matt shrugged.

“Really now?” Brian smirked.

“Lay off, that’s my sister asshole. Besides she hates your guts anyway.”

“I never meant to go off on her that night.”

“Yeah, well you did and it really hurt her. It also really hurt her that you didn’t even invite her to your wedding,” Matt scoffed.

“You told her about the wedding?” Brian winced.

“Jade let it slip, but she would’ve found out sooner or later,” Matt shrugged.

“I do feel really bad about everything,” Brian muttered.

“Man please fix this before everything gets awkward,” Matt pleaded.

Brian nodded as he watched Daphne climb out of the pool. She quickly dried off before walking into the house.

“I’ll go fix it now,” he smirked as he got up from his lounge chair.

He walked into the house and saw Daphne grabbing a drink from the refrigerator.

“Hey Daph,” he greeted.

Daphne’s eyes widened and she picked her head up from the fridge.

“Didn’t I tell you not to talk to me?” she asked nonchalantly.

“And I didn’t listen,” he shrugged.

“I have nothing to say to you Brian,” she sneered as she turned to him.

“Well don’t talk, just listen. I’m really sorry about everything that happened,” he muttered.

“You think sorry is going to make everything better?” she spat.

“Well its all I got Daph! I don’t know what else to say,” he shrugged.

“You are so fucking pathetic!” she hissed.

“Can’t you let this go Daph? It happened so long ago.”

“I can’t let it go Brian! You hurt me during the hardest time of our lives. You told me to leave our best friend’s funeral for God’s sakes! How could you do that?”

“I was vulnerable and I was hurting at the time Daph,” he muttered.

“You don’t think I was too? My heart was breaking Brian, yet I didn’t take my anger out on the ones I love. You don’t even know how much you hurt me Brian!” she snapped.

“I’m sorry Daph,” he sighed.

“Stop saying you’re sorry! Its going to take more than sorry to fix this. You didn’t even invite me to your God damn wedding! We were best friends Brian!” she yelled.

“We still are best friends!” he barked.

“No we’re not! You lost me as a best friend when you drove me away!” she snarled.

“Well maybe we’d still be best friends if you weren’t such a stubborn bitch!” he yelled.

Daphne gasped and impulsively slapped him, causing his head to turn. Brian turned and glared down at her.

“I fucking hate you!” she spat as she walked out back, slamming the door shut behind her.

Brian groaned and walked into the living room. He saw Zacky sitting on the couch smirking at him.

“I heard the whole thing. You have some serious ass-kissing to do man,” he chuckled.

“Fuck I hate that bitch!” Brian snarled as he walked out the front door, slamming it shut.
