Nothing else matters

Zacky’s POV

Why is she not saying anything? This is not a good sign, not a good sign at all. Did I ruin everything?
“Romy …please say something…anything…” I pleaded.
She just stared at me.
Finally she opened her mouth, “First… don’t punch Alex. We didn’t do anything. He was really just sleeping here… “
Wow… that’s not what I expected but I was damn relieved.
“I couldn’t do anything with him, because I am in love with somebody else.”
WHAT? She is in love with somebody else?? With whom, do I know this guy?! Oh fuck, I will kill him.
“Damn it, Zack, didn’t you realize that I was in love with you for so long…?!” Romy looked at me.
WHAT?? Why did I not let her finish talking and then start thinking!
“You are what? No, I didn’t know… Why didn’t you say anything... I mean… “, I wanted to grab her and kiss her but she stepped back.
“Zack, because whenever I made a move on you, you distanced yourself from me. Or you put the little sister speech… like after the kiss... and then I was only good enough for sex… how do I not know that you won’t be bored with me after some weeks?!”
What does she mean that I would get bored with her? How could I get bored? Look at her she is beautiful, funny and she knows exactly what I am doing and understands me and my lifestyle.
Why did I not realize this before now?! She is exactly what I was searching for, even if I wasn’t searching at all.
“Romy, I promise that won’t happen. How can I make you see that I am honest with you? Let us try; I will make you believe in me, I want to be with you. I will talk with Matt later…”
“What does Matt have to do with this?” she looked confused.
“He is your brother; I have to talk to him about us…”
“Zack, hold on hold on… I didn’t agree to anything here…! Can I be honest with you?”
“I beg you to be honest. What is it?” We sat down on her bed and I still hada hold on her hand. I couldn’t let go, afraid that she would reject me then.
“I am just afraid that I will give you my heart and that you will crush it under your feet if you find yourself a new girl…”
“Damn Romy, you are too important to me, I wouldn’t do that. I want to have you as my friend and girlfriend. You know me like only my brothers here do. I want to spend every free minute with you. Give me a chance!”
“I… I don’t know Zack. Just give me some time to think this through, ok?”
“I’ll give you as long as you need. But please don’t shut me out again, like in the last days. I missed you Romy.”
I took the chance and kissed her lips softly and walked out of her room.

It was still early but thank god Jimmy and Val were not waiting in the hall for me. I needed to talk to Matt. He shouldn’t be the last to know, how my feelings for his sister were right now.
I walked to the end of the corridor, “Zack, wait a sec.” I turned around and saw Alex.
“Can we talk, just a few seconds?”
“What?”
“I didn’t know that you had feelings for her, I would have never… you know… But when I was in her room yesterday she stopped me right away and told me that she was in love with you for quite a while now… so Zack don’t mess this up, ok? She is really… unique!”
Damn, he was so right. But I made up my mind I wouldn’t fuck this up, I would fight for it.
Well, even if I have to fight with one of my best friends… her brother!
“Thanks man, I know… Believe me; I could bite me in the ass for waiting so long. I gotta go now talk with, Matt.”
“Good luck with that, man.” Alex waved goodbye.

I stood at Matt’s and Val’s door remembered that Val told me that Matt was ill. Maybe I should talk to him later. Before I could turn around the door flew open and Val stepped outside, her phone in hand, “No, I said we need to cancel the last few shows. It is not possible. No he really does have a bad cold. His voice is nearly gone. The doc was already here and said he isn’t able to sing for the next couple of days… we have to cancel and reschedule the dates. Yes, call me later. I will keep you updated. I already booked our flights back home for today. Ok, sorry Larry… Bye.”
“Hey Zack, whats up? Come on in.”
“You cancelled the last shows? He is that bad? I just thought he wasn’t feeling so well after the show yesterday? Is it worse?”
“Oh damn, yeah he got high fever it’s a bad cold. He lost his voice and can only whisper… But you know him, he thinks tomorrow it is all gone and he can do the show, but the doc said no chance… So I already booked our flights and we will reschedule the last shows. It’s not good but… we have no other chance.” She sighed.
“Then its better if I talk to him another time… I mean…” I started.
“You wanna talk about Romy? Do it now, Zack. He can’t scream at you now. You know?!” She winked and grabbed my arm and pulled me inside.
