Matt smiled down at the small ferret in his hands. He was going to buy Athena a puppy but he saw the grayish fur and remembered Athena saying something about always wanting a ferret. He wasn’t sure if buying her love was the right way but if it was, he would buy the world just for her to be his again.

“Hey Jim. Where’s At?” Matt asked with a smile on his face when he walked through the door.

Jimmy gave him an odd look, “Backyard. Why?”

“I bought her something.” Matt smiled.

“Is it something dirty?” Jimmy questioned cracking a smile.

“No.” Matt called back before walking into the back yard.

Athena and Ruby sat on the swing, talking and giggling.

“Can we talk?” Matt asked hopefully.

Athena narrowed her eyes at him for a minute then whispered for Ruby to leave but watch them through the window. Matt took Ruby’s empty spot and held the box with air holes in it out for Athena to take. She carefully took the box, contemplating refusing the offer but she really didn’t feel like being hit at the moment.

“Open it.” Matt flashed her a grin.

Carefully she opened the box and smiled wide when she saw a cute little animal inside. She pulled the ferret out and hugged it softly.

“Aw! Aren’t you the cutest!” She squealed forgetting that Matt was still there.

He smiled imagining she was saying that to him.

“You like it?”

“Is it a boy or a girl?” She questioned.

“Girl.” He answered.

“I love her. Now what do we name you?” Athena asked standing up and walking back into the house leaving Matt outside confused.

The ferret was supposed to drive her into his arms not send her in the house to think up names. He sighed and kicked the empty box.

“You can’t buy love.” Jimmy spoke.

“Huh?”

“Hold on.” Jimmy pulled out his cell phone and clicked the button to play ‘The Beatles’ Can’t buy me love.

“I hate when the Beatles are right.” Matt spat childishly.

“What do you expect they were huge!” Jimmy exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.

“Next thing your gonna tell me is all I need is love.” Matt mumbled.

“All you need is love! All you need is love! All you need is love, love. Love is all you need!” Jimmy sang.

Matt rolled his eyes but couldn’t help smiling.

“It’s been a hard day‘s night. Let’s go visit Elanor Rigby or maybe the places I remember. Don’t forget Octopus‘s garden. Then we can come togeather,anytime at all . You know she loves you . I know cause I‘m the walrus. So don’t forget to say Hello goodbye to the revolution because I‘m a loser . Maybe you’ll see all you need is love, when I‘m sixty-four .”

“Oh my god please quit.” Matt laughed at his friend.

Jimmy smirked, “Listen to the Beatles. They will tell you the way.”

Matt rolled his eyes but couldn’t help but think maybe he would find a message to patch up his relationship with Athena in one of their songs.
