She Visited Me Last Night

I woke up with the sun shining lightly through my curtains and onto my skin warming me up. I sat up in bed and looked at the time on the clock. 9:24 am. I got out of bed and went downstairs to see mom cooking breakfast for me. I crawled onto the chair and sat there until mom turned around.
"Hey sweetheart. I hope you're hungry."
"I am." I said smiling bit faded.
"Mom can I ask you something?"
"Sure baby." She said as she put my food on a plate and set it down in front of me.
"What happened to grandma and grandpa?"
"They died in a horrible accident. Why do you ask?" She said looking at me confused. I hung my head and sighed deeply.
"She visted me last night."
"What?" she said.
"Grandma visited me last night. She told me to ask you what happened to them. They told me that they would be back tonight."
"Meg...I know you think that I'm saying that you must have had a dream but you didnt. I've been visited by her too." she said smiling.

We sat there in silence as I finished my breakfast. I cleaned the dishes while Meg went into the living room to watch TV. I sat down at the bar and wrote out a list of things we needed for the house. I walked into the living room.
"Hey I need to go to the store. Let's get you in the bath." I said and she jumped off the couch and followed me upstairs. I got her out some clothes and ran the water in the bath. I washed her up and dried her off and put her into her clothes. She went back downstairs as I got me some clothes and took my shower.
I stepped out of the shower and put my clothes on before walking down the stairs and into the kitchen. I grabbed a piece of paper from my list and wrote a note for Brian. I gathered Meg turning off the TV and walking outside. Meg jumped into the car as I locked the front door. I got into the driver's side and we headed off to the store. She looked out the window at the beach as it passed by. I pulled into the parking lot of the store and cut the engine once I found a space. I got Meg out and headed into the store locking my door behind me. We walked around the store getting everything I needed on the list. I got Meg some animal crackers to snack on at the house.
We finished shopping and I paid for everything before heading back to the house. Meg helped me carry the bags into the house and I put everything away. Meg went back to watching TV and eating her animal crackers. I got out some tea bags and started to make my mom's famous tea. When the tea was done, I checked the time and it was almost time for the guys. I could hear Meg laughing at something funny and I couldn't help but laugh slightly. I got out the ingrediants for me to make Cheeseburger Macaronii and began to cook it while setting the table. I finished the food just about the time the guys came through the door. I set beer out for them and myself.
"Uncle Jimmy! That's mine!" I heard Meg yell. I went into the living room and seen Jimmy had her box of animal crackers.
"Jimmy? Are you taking my daughter's animal crackers?" I said sternly and he handed her the crackers back. I smiled and told them dinner was ready. I made Meg and myself a plate of food and we ate. The guys left me to do the dishes as they kept Meg entertained. I put the last of the dishes up and Brian tapped on my shoulder.
"Hey baby." I said kissing him.
"Hello to you too. Can you go get your guitar and play for us?"
"Sure." I said kissing him one last time and running up the stairs and grabbing my guitar. I walked back down to the living room and sat down on the recliner in front of the guys and Meg.
"What do you guys want to hear?" I asked.
"Have you written any songs mom?"
"Yes." I said and she smiled. I knew she wanted me to sing one I written.
"Alright. This song I wrote a long time ago. It's called Numb." I said and began to play and sing.

I ended the song and Meg clapped her hands and I half ass bowed. I played and sung a few more songs as I seen Meg falling asleep. I smiled at her sleeping body and I took her up to her room. I laid her down turning on her nightlight like every night. I looked around her room.
"Mom...dad...I wish you were still here." I said before walking out of her room. I went back downstairs and watched TV with the guys until they all left. Brian and I went up to our room and cuddled up with each other as my eyes grew heavy and fell asleep.
