Why Would People Do That?

I woke up again to the bright light that stood over me. I wasn't afraid this time. I sat up in bed as the figure stood before me.
"Hello Sweetheart."
"Hey grandma!" I said smiling.
"Did your mother tell you what happened to us?"
"She told me that you guys died in a horrible accident." I said staring at the now dimmed light that surrounded her.
"Little girl...I know you want to know so I guess I'll tell you." I sat there and got comfy as she sat down on the bed next to me.
"Your grandpa and I were killed when your mother was just little. 3 men invaded our home and robbed us but that's not all they wanted, especially from me. Your grandpa was killed defending my honor. I was raped and then killed. Ever since your mother went to an orphanage, I kept her from getting adopted until Matt found her. I wanted Matt to adopt her and help her with everything she needed. I've been there in your house back in Tennessee when she was seeing your father. I was watching over your mother when you were born and until today I have been here watching over you guys and keeping you safe. I'll always be here. There's no way I'm leaving my beautiful granddaughter." I smiled and hugged her tightly. I heard my door open and my mom walked in wide eyed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~AME'S POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I heard Meg's voice and I got out of bed and went over to Meg's door. I could hear her talking and the sound of my mom's voice. I guess she wasn't kidding. I opened the door and seen my mom and Meg look at me.
"Mom?" I said.
"Yes sweetheart it's me. I know it's been a while since we've seen each other."
"Yes it has." I said smiling. I walked over to her and hugged her tightly.
"I missed you so much mom. Why haven't you come to see me." I said closing my eyes.
"Baby all you have to do is call me and I'll be here. I came to Meg and told her what happened to us and I'm not leaving anytime soon. I will always be here." I smiled adn the light became bright once again.
"I've got to go. Goodnight." We watched as she faded away. I put Meg back to bed and waited until she was fully asleep before I left her room. I wouldn't be able to sleep at all tonight so I went downstairs and turned on the TV low enough where it wouldn't wake up Meg or Brian. I sat there until morning came and fixed breakfast for the guys before they went to the studio like everyday.
