We're okay

A car engine was heard revving up outside the house. Zack and Brian shared a confused look; Zack stood from his chair by the window and took a few steps towards the baby. He had this gut feeling that something bad was going to happen. He grabbed a hold of Bentley and walked around the table to Jared while Brian stood and made his way to the front door to see what was going on. Just as he caught a glimpse the car took off, but not down the road, towards the house.

“Get out! Get away from the kitchen!” Brian yelled through the house, but before he even had his sentence out there was a crash. Brian made it to the kitchen in the second a large white truck slammed through the dining room wall, taking out the table they had all been sitting at. Zack held Bentley and Jared to his chest, just on the other side of the kitchen counter. The truck had made it all the way to those counters but when they had hit, the destruction stopped.

Brian literally ran over to his boys, checking them over even before he stopped in front of them. He lifted arms and turned heads but Zack halted him. “Brian we are okay. Go check the driver.”

“They did it on purpose I saw them out the peep hole in the door.” Brian made his way to the truck and opened the door. That truck, where had he recognized that truck before? It only took a few seconds to remember but finally when an image of an accident popped into his head Brian remembered. “You hit me.”

The persons head was against the steering wheal, he didn’t look too banged up but he had a bit of blood on his head. “Zack call the cops and tell them to send an ambulance incase he has any internal injuries.”

The man started making a hacking noise, Brian couldn’t help but think the worst, but when he tried to act and do something for the man he realized he was laughing. “I hope your life is ruined Haner. Your family is dead; your best friend is dead. You have nothing left, but me.”

Brian’s eyes widened. “My family is safe, your attempt to harm them failed.”

“Oh well. Your precious boyfriend got hit didn’t he? He was so close to the hood of the truck when I closed my eyes. He had to have gotten hurt. I had to do what his momma failed to.” The man literally laughed at that.

“No my boyfriend is safe, unlike you, you slimy bastard.” Zack placed his hand on Brian’s shoulder to calm him, the baby was with Jared. He looked at Zack for a second before turning back to the man. “You couldn’t just leave me be could you? You hit me with your truck and made me loose my memory. I didn’t know who my family was or my life for the past six years. Why the hell did you do it?”

“If I couldn’t have you, no one could. The accident was supposed to kill you but when you lost your memory I knew I had my chance. You were in the palm of my hand and with a little more help from your wife I would have had you.” The man coughed once more before letting his eyes slip shut.

“Bastard.” Zack pulled Brian back, away from the truck. He set the older man on the couch near the boys. “I have to call Matt.”

“Can’t it wait until after the cops get here? I don’t mean to sound cold or anything but can’t he wait a few hours to find out?” Zack sighed and sat down on the swiveling chair.

“No,” Brian’s brow frowned while he was looking into his boyfriends eyes. “He said Matt was dead.”

Zack’s eyes widened and he stood. He retrieved the house phone and immediately handed it to Brian. The brown eyed man quickly clicked the numbers and held the phone to his ear. A minute later he repeated those actions when no one answered. When he clicked the phone off Brian looked up at Zack.

Zack thought his heart was going to give out, seeing that helplessness on his boyfriends face. “Go.” Brian was startled by the quick demand but he looked up and Zack looked just as helpless as he felt. “Go to their house. Make sure their okay Brian.”

He didn’t need told twice. Brian quickly grabbed his shoes and coat, Zack shoved the keys to his car in Brian’s hand. “Brian look at me.” Zack placed his hands on Brian’s shoulders. “Don’t go assuming the worst okay. Kale is a crazy bastard and he is probably just trying to get us worked up. Drive safely please. I can’t have you hurt again.”

“I promise babe.” Brian placed a gentle kiss to Zack’s lips, leaving the other man speechless. But to Brian, that kiss felt so familiar, so right. He had to do that again, soon, but it could wait, he had Matt to attend to at the moment.

Zack sat back on the couch and dialed Matt’s cell phone number. When no one picked up he began to worry. Jared gently stood, holding the baby as he walked over to his dad. Zack placed the baby on the couch next to them with his toy and held Jared in his lap.

When the paramedics showed up not a minute later Zack had to tell them what happened, the police arrived and Zack had to tell them everything as well. When they asked where Brian was Zack had to tell them that Stewart Kale had mentioned something about someone close to them being dead. They used their radios to call in for help, sending them to Matt’s address.

It took a long to process everything and the report was filed. It was pretty obvious what had happened. The police let Zack pack a few bags full of things the family would need for the next few weeks. When Zack called Brian he didn’t pick up right away, his heart began beating so fast his chest hurt. “Hello.”

“Oh thank god! Is Matt okay?” Zack worried. Brian sighed through the phone.

“I was actually just about to call you.” The pause nearly put Zack in a panic attack. “Don’t start freaking out when I tell you this because it’s not all that bad. The same thing happened to Matt and Mattie that happened to us. Michelle drove into their kitchen window but unlike Kale, she didn’t rev up the engine. They didn’t know what happened but luckily when the car hit both of them jumped up or they would have been hurt worse. Matt currently has a few broken ribs and his wrist is broken as well. Mattie came out with only a few cuts and bruises. He lunged out of the way while holding Kage and fell into the glass. When some of the second story collapsed he got a big bump on the head but he shielded Kage. Both of them are getting their wounds dealt with in the hospital but they will be released in a few hours. Until then I have the baby.”

“I have to call my dad and let him know and I have to find a hotel to check into” Brian cut Zack’s rant off.

“I called around Zack; no hotel will take the dogs so we need to find a vacation home or something to rent for a few months, or at least until the house is dealt with.” Brian suggested.

“Okay I will look it up on the internet really quick.” With that they both said goodbye and hung up. Zack made a few calls, one to his dad and a couple more to some vacation homes. He found one about an hour away; it was right on the beach and with the money he will be gaining with his mom’s life insurance in the next week, he didn’t really have to worry about that issue. When he got the vacation home rental agency to agree to meet them in three hours Zack called Brian.

“I found a place that is right on the beach and accepts our dogs. It has three bedrooms and is pretty spacious. I will use my moms life insurance to pay for it but I made sure it had enough room for the seven of us.” Zack had his laptop in front of him, patting Bentleys back as he slept on the couch. The police were still there to monitor him until they left.

“Seven?” Zack heard a car door shut outside the house and in the next minute he heard Brian’s voice telling the cops he lived there. Zack hung up the phone and waited until they let Brian in. The cop outside let Brian in and looked at Zack with a questioning brow; Zack nodded.

“Yes the seven of us. I figured that Matt and Mattie would go with us too since the same thing happened to them.” Zack watched as Brian set three bags down and the baby. Kage stood up on shaky legs, holding the edge of the coffee table to balance. “Matt will get paid leave for being hurt and I can stop by work and have them set it up so I work from the computer.”

“That’s a good idea. I can’t believe everything that has happened today.” Brian placed a kiss to Zack’s forehead. When Zack looked over there was a cop looking for evidence and the one watching the small family from the doorway; the second one seamed to relax a little more when he saw that Zack was okay with Brian being here. “I put Bella in the back yard through the side gate.”

“Okay so seven boys and four dogs.” Holy shit that vacation home was going to be hectic but Zack was okay with that. “So they were working together?”

“I guess so.” Brian replied, knowing what his boyfriend was talking about.

“But how does my mother fit into this story?” Zack closed his computer and grabbed their bags.

“Kale said something about him having to do what your mom failed to do. So maybe they were all working together.” Brian picked up the sleeping Bentley, smiling when he realized that the baby wasn’t sleeping at all. Just fooling them; the little boy reached up with a toothless grin and pulled at his daddy’s nose. Brian smiled and kissed the baby on the cheek.

“Excuse me sir, you were hear during the accident?” The nearest cop asked, hearing Brian speak about what happened.

“Yeah, and it wasn’t an accident.” The cop led Brian into another room and got his side of the story before letting the family leave.

Zack called Matt and told him the plan.

An hour later Zack followed Brian out of the house. Each man carrying a baby and a bag, a policeman helped them carry the rest. Matt’s truck was outside. Mattie stepped out of the driver side but Matt stayed inside. “How are you guys doing?”

“Okay. Better than you I see.” Zack joked, pulling his brother into a hug. Brian went to the side gate and grabbed the four dogs. “Everything is settled, you guys ready to head out?”

“I’m glad they let Brian grab our stuff. Neither of us feels like really doing anything. My head hurts, Matt’s fucked up.” Mattie commented.

“Well why don’t you ride with Brian and I’ll drive Matt? Neither of you are in shape to be driving anyway.” Mattie nodded; Brian quickly agreed and spread a blanket out in the back of Matt’s truck. He then helped Wes into the back seat and chained the other three dogs in the bed. Making sure none of then could get over the edge.

Zack tossed the bags into the bed of the truck and buckled the babies into the car Brian would take. Jared climbed in the back seat of the truck and they set off. The family made a few needed stops on the way, like to Zack’s job and the grocery store.

When they arrived at the beach an hour later the person from the agency was waiting for them. When the man saw how many people there were he was shocked, but when Zack explained to them why they needed to rent a home he happily took the payment and told them the rules. Rules such as don’t fuck up the house and any damages have to be paid for. The short term contract was signed and the man left them be with a smile.

Zack looked up at the house from the front walkway. It was a one story house but it was pretty big. Glass windows surrounded the house, you could literally see through the front window and to the back yard through another. But Zack was okay with that because there were curtains that could be pulled all around the windows. Inside the house had nice wood floors, not too dark and not too light.

The walkway was made of hand crafted stones and on either side of it had a palm tree surrounded by tall lush bushes. Shrubs lined the walkway and there were a few tiki torches on both sides leading up to the house. Inside the double glass doors was an open room with a big sitting room, a rug in the middle of the floor, a white couch on one side of it with a love seat so they were in the shape of an L, to the right of the loveseat, strait across from the couch sat two reclining chairs. Strait across from the loveseat was a fireplace made of stone.

The large open room was separated by a large island bar with barstools; on the other side was a large kitchen with stainless steel appliances. In-between both rooms was the back yard door.

Just inside the front door to the left was an arch way that led down a windowed pathway to the bedrooms and bathrooms. All were furnished with large canopy beds. With a sigh Zack popped up the portable baby beds and got everyone settled in.

“We should get take out for dinner tonight.” Brian suggested pressing his hands to Zack’s chest and rubbing gently. His boyfriend looked up at him; Brian got sucked into that moment. Zack’s bright green eyes looked up at him, showing nothing but wanting.

Brian smiled and licked his lips. He slowly eased himself closer to his boyfriend, meeting Zack more than half way. When their lips touched Brian’s heart lurched. He brought his hand up to Zack’s cheek, pulling him closer. Tilting his head slightly Brian ran his tongue across the seam of Zack’s lips. They parted, allowing Brian access into the warm crevice. Brian used his tongue to explore Zack’s mouth, his cheek pockets, the roof of his mouth; he used it to gently massage Zack’s tongue. A gentle moan left Zack’s lips just as Brian pulled back.

They rested their foreheads together, both smiling wide.

“It’s about damn time.” Both heads turned to see Matt and Mattie watching them from the reclining chairs. Mattie had Bentley in his arms while the other two boys watched TV.

Zack turned his attention back to Brian who had a shit eating grin on his face. In the second it took for Zack to wonder what he was doing Brian had backed up and literally smacked him in the face with the banana cream pie they had just bought.

“Brian!” Zack nearly screeched as the older man took off towards the back door.

“What? I don’t see why you let me buy that anyway, you hate bananas.” Brian smirked from the open doorway. Zack stopped in his tracks; he had been stalking towards the man when Brian said that.

“How did you know that? I haven’t told you that since we met.” Zack was astonished when Brian shrugged.

“I don’t know. I just do.” Just then Brian smirked and used the pie, still in his hand once again. This time Zack didn’t stop the chase until he had tackled Brian and used some of the cream he was covered in to rub on Brian’s face as payback.
