The Final Decision
Chapter VII
Lex’s POV
That night I asked my mom to watch Avery overnight. I was still super angry. I didn’t want her around me while I was so angry, especially when it was her father that I was angry at. That next morning I was up early though and in tears. All the anger had subsided and I was now just heartbroken. I had no idea what I was going to do. The door opened and Val came in.
“I heard you crying.” She walked her over to me. “Is everything okay?”
I shook my head. “No, nothing is okay. I walked out on Zack. I just left the love of my life for my own stupidity. I lied, cheated, deceived, and every other thing bad in the book. Maybe it was a good thing I left him. He won’t have to deal with a deceitful wife. He deserves so much better.”
“Lex, you made a mistake.”
“Twice. I’m stupid. I can’t just say it was okay for me to cheat on Zack. It’s not okay. He doesn’t deserve it.”
“Honey, you’re beating yourself up.”
“Val, I lied to my husband and then left him because he accused me of the truth!”
“The things he said to you weren’t right. This is not your fault.”
“I shouldn’t have slept with Brian. Look where the fuck it got me. Once again, he fucked up my life.”
“Don’t put the blame towards him either, Lex.”
“I’m not, but he didn’t have the fucking right to just leave me.”
“He didn’t want to ruin your marriage. He’s not the bad guy.”
“I know he’s not. I’m just I don’t know.”
“You’re upset, hurt, and resentful. Those are normal feelings for what has happened the past few months.”
“I guess I should go file for a divorce, huh?” I sighed.
“Not if you don’t want it.”
“I don’t know what I want. I want Zack, but I don’t want him knowing that I just left him on accurate accusations.”
“Well maybe you should tell him.”
“He would hate me.”
“It’s worth a shot. You have nothing to lose.”
“I can’t tell him yet. I want to get the papers first.”
“You’re going to get a divorce before you tell him?”
“Yes, that way I don’t have hope when I go there. It’s all been done. There wouldn’t be much left to do.”
“Lex, you’re not making any sense. If you’re going to try and get him back, why are you going to go through a whole entire divorce process?”
“I’ll just get the papers. I won’t sign them. I’ll take them to him and tell him and see what he wants to do.”
“That sounds good.” A knock came across the bedroom door and Matt opened it.
“Hey, I’m going to the studio, but first Lex Brian is here for you.”
“Okay, sweetie. I love you.” Val said sweetly.
“Why is Brian here for me?” I asked him.
“I love you too, but I don’t know. He just said he really needs to see you.”
“Okay.” I got up and made my way into the living room, Matt following. I watched him leave. “What do you want?” I asked, coldly.
“I wanted to see if you were okay.”
“I don’t want to talk to you, okay? Just leave me alone.” I turned around to walk back to the room.
“No, Lex. You need to tell Zack.”
“You don’t think I fucking know that? I already have a plan. You just turn around and go back to not fucking talking to me. Remember, I lost you.”
“You’re so mellow dramatic, fuck.”
“I’m so mellow dramatic?” I yelled. “I just lost my fucking husband. My family is ripped to shreds all because hey I thought that maybe I would let my feelings get in the way, but all it fucking did was make me lose you, my husband, and my family. I made a complete ass of myself! I betrayed so many people! How is my daughter going to look up to me when all she’ll know is me being a fucking whore! How in the hell am I supposed to tell her why her father and I aren’t together anymore! How can you sit here and act like you can be here for me when in reality you caused all this! You could’ve stopped me. Just like you stopped me at your house when I was crying, begging for you. You shooed me away then, why didn’t you have the decency to do it before!”
“I was drunk! I don’t even fucking remember anything! How do you expect me to stop you when I’ve loved you and tried to get you for so many years? Did you think of that? Don’t put the fucking blame towards me. YOU threw yourself at me. YOU came to my house in tears begging for me. YOU made the decision to cheat on your husband. And YOU chose to walk out on him. I didn’t have a fucking thing to do with it! How can you stand there and act like it’s my fucking fault? It’s because you can’t own up to your own fucking mistakes.”
“You don’t think I realize what I have done? Do you honestly think that I sat in that room over there crying for two hours over the fact that you caused all of this? I know it’s my fucking fault. I was drunk, also. You still could’ve stopped me. You are just as guilty as I am. But don’t fucking worry. I’ll protect your precious reputation with Zack. I’ll blame all the shit on me. I’ll leave once it’s done and only deal with any of you when it has to do with Avery. I’m done with this shit. I can’t take it anymore.” I turned back around and walked towards the room. I heard the door slam and I walked into the room and there was a worry on Val’s face.
“It’s a good thing Matt left.” I told her.
“Are you okay?”
“No.”
“I heard everything. Brian’s a dick. You know that.”
“I know. I just don’t understand why he can act like that.”
“He’s Brian. That’s enough of an explanation.”
“Val, I seriously don’t know what I would do without you.” My phone began to ring. I looked it and it was my mom. She probably is ready for me to pick up Avery.
“Hello?”
“Lex.” She sniffed. “You need to get here now. You and Zack.”
“What is going on?” I asked, panicking.
“Get over here, NOW.”
“Okay!” I slammed my phone down. “I got to go! Please Val, come with me.”
“Where are we going?”
“My mom’s. Something’s wrong.” She jumped up and we ran out. “Call Zack, now. Tell him to get over there.” She picked up my phone and dialed his number.
“Zack, hey. Get to Lex’s mom’s house, now. Something’s wrong.”
“I don’t know. Just get over there, now.” She hung up and I raced over to her house. When I got there I didn’t waste any time. I parked the car and ran out. I burst open the door and saw my mom crying.
“What in the fuck is going on!?” I yelled.
“Where’s Zack?” She asked.
“TELL ME NOW!!” The door swung open and Zack was standing there. Damn, he got here quick.
“It’s Avery.” She cried. “I… I… don’t know what happened.” She stuttered.
“What is wrong with her? Where is she?” Zack asked frantically.
“She’s gone.” My heart dropped.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE’S GONE!?” I screamed.
“I laid her down for a nap and when I went to check up on her she wasn’t breathing.” I ran towards her room. I opened the door and my baby was blue. She was dead. My baby girl was dead.

I know you guys are probably hating me for this... But later in the story you'll understand...I nearly cried writing this chapter.
