The Final Decision
Chapter VI
Zack’s POV
I had no idea what had come over me, but all I knew was that her sitting there showed everything; what she did, what she was hiding and everything else. I pushed it away because I just couldn’t believe it, but her wanting to talk to me just gave me the perfect opportunity. I didn’t want to blow up in front of my friends, but I just lost control. My face stung where Lex had slapped me and I wasn’t ready for what everyone was about to say, but before I could even stop myself I walked over to Brian and pulled him up.
“Tell me now what the fuck happened between you two.”
“Nothing happened.” My fist collided with his face.
“Something did happen. I’m not fucking stupid. This recording day is over.” I stormed out and got in my car and sped home. I was going to end this with Lex once and for all.
I pulled into my driveway and saw that Lex was here. I opened the door and stormed inside. I made my way up the stairs and opened the door to our room. Lex was in there packing.
“Where are you going?” I asked.
“Why the fuck do you care? Get the fuck away from me, now.”
“You’re not leaving. We need to settle this, now.”
“I’m not settling any fucking thing with you! You just called me a slut in front of everyone! I’m fucking leaving, and I’m taking Avery. I’m not telling you where I’m going, because you’re not going to come find me. I’m done.” She zipped up her bag and walked out. I walked right behind her.
“Stop, Lex.”
“No, fuck you.” She made her way to Avery’s room and packed her stuff up.
“How long are you going to be gone for?” I said a little bit more calm.
“I just fucking told you I was DONE. You had the nerve to call me a slut when I haven’t done anything wrong! I’m not fucking coming back.” She pushed passed me.
“What do you mean you’re not coming back?” I rushed.
She turned around. “You don’t have the decency to trust me. Why should I waste my time in a marriage like that?”
“I do trust you!” I exclaimed.
“I’m not wasting my time here. Goodbye, Zack.” She took her wedding and engagement ring off and threw them at me.
“You can’t keep my daughter away from me!” I screamed at her. The next thing I heard was the door slamming. What the fuck had I just done?
Lex’s POV
I was beyond furious. I couldn’t believe I just walked out on my husband. I can’t believe I just ripped my family apart. I wasn’t going to stand there and listen to him call me something so vulgar. I just couldn’t. I made my way over to Val’s house. I know that wasn’t the best place to stay, but I had no choice. I wasn’t going to stay at my parents or Zack’s parents. That will be the first place he’ll look. I got out and knocked on Val’s door. She opened it instantly and let me in.
“Hey, Val. Thank you so much for letting me stay here until I can get back on my feet.”
“It’s no problem, sweetie! Are you okay?”
“The heartache hasn’t hit yet. I’m still angry. Really angry.”
“Where are your bags?”
“They’re still in the car. I’ll get them later.” I sighed sitting down on the couch. “What happened after I left?”
“Zack asked Brian what the fuck happened and Brian said nothing so he punched him and walked out.”
“Well at least Brian stood up for me. That’s a pointer.”
“He’s worried about you.”
“Who, Brian?” She nodded. “I guess it doesn’t matter. He’s just as fucked up as Zack is.”
“Yeah, I know. I was just saying. He asked me to keep an eye on you.”
“Well, that was considerate of him.” I rolled my eyes.
“At least he’s attempting.”
“Honestly, I don’t want him too. I don’t want him or Zack to care anymore. I just want to move on with my life.”
“You can’t just forget about Zack, Lex. You have a child with him. You can’t keep her away from him.”
“I’m not going to keep her away from him, but I can move on.”
“Whatever you say, Lex.”
Zack’s POV
I just watched my life drive away. Once I heard the door shut I ran downstairs and watched Lex leave. God, why was I so stupid? Why did I let myself believe that she cheated on me? I know she didn’t. She wouldn’t. I heard a knock on the door and I slowly made my way to open it.
“Zack, dude, are you okay?” Matt asked barging through the door.
“What fucking kind of question is that?” I shut the door. “Hell no I’m not okay. My wife just left me.”
“She’s just pissed right now. She’s going to come around. She’ll come back.”
“I need to find her. Do you know where she is?”
He shook his head. “No, I don’t. But it would be a good idea to just give her space if you want her to come back.”
“I can’t just sit here. I have to get her back. God, I’m so fucking stupid!” I exclaimed and finally the tears burst through. I was finally crying.
“It’ll be okay, man. She’ll be back before you know it. You just have to remember that you did call her a slut in front of all her friends and blamed her for cheating when we all know she didn’t.”
“I don’t know what came over me. I just started to think about it and then they weren’t talking at all. It just seemed all too strange. I just lost control.”
“It happens and with your guys’ history she doesn’t technically have the cleanest record.”
“I know. That’s all I was remembering, because she did say she was drunk and upset. The two things that she was the last time she cheated on me.”
“Exactly.”
“But how in the hell is she going to forgive me?”
“It’ll take a minute. I’m not saying that tomorrow she’ll bust through the door ready to come back in.”
“God, I wish she would.”
