Complicated Love

The next week flew by way too quickly. My days were spent at the school getting to know the kids. Most of them liked me so far and Lauren had told me on more than one occasion that I would be an amazing teacher.
"The kids really like you, Brooke." She said today. It was Friday and it was her last day. Come Monday, the class would be mine. "You have nothing to be afraid of. You have learned this very quickly. Better than even me."
While I was at work, I had tried to keep my mind off my new amazing relationship with Jimmy. Most of the time, I could pull it off and keep my mind on the task. But some of the time, I would just smile so big and the kids would laugh.
While my days were occupied with the class, my evenings were occupied with Jimmy and the guys.
When I had told Val about what had happened, she jumped up and down and finally hugged me. "It's about time!" she had said, laughing.
The guys had already known before even Jimmy had that I had come to my senses. Yeah, Brian had told all of them the second I got out of his car that day.
I walked out of the school today and saw Jimmy standing in the teacher's parking lot next to his car. He had his shades on but he was smiling like a madman. When I reached him, he pulled me close to him and kissed me.
Over the last week, Jimmy had kissed me every chance he got. When I had questioned him about it (not that I was complaining, I was just curious) he ran his hands through my hair and down my sides. He said, "I have spent more than half my life waiting to kiss you, and now that I can, I'm not going to waste any of the time we have together."
That's my Jimmy. Living life to the fullest. It was one of the many reasons I loved him.
Now, we were sitting in his living room watching House on Haunted Hill, the newish creepier version with Geoffrey Rush. I was snuggled up to Jimmy's side and he had his arm around me. It came to the part in the movie where the one guy's face had been carved out and I turned my face away into Jimmy's shoulder.
I could feel him laughing beside me. "Really? That's the part that scares you?"
I looked up and him and pouted. "I'm not scared. That's just icky."
Jimmy laughed again and leaned down to kiss me. "You are so damn cute, Brooke. How do you do it?"
"It's a natural talent," I said, shrugging.
He paused the movie, grabbed me by my sides and pulled me until I was sitting on his lap in a more intimate way than I had ever done so before. Jimmy ran his fingers through my hair. I left it down most of the time these days after he had mentioned once that he liked it better like that.
He ran his fingers across my collar bone causing me to shiver. I was wearing only a tank top and my favorite Spiderman pajama pants. His fingers kept going until they stopped on the tattoo with his intials in it. Jimmy leaned forward and kissed it and I filled with warmth. He looked up at me with a huge smile.
"See?" he said. "I told you I'd never leave you and you've been branded with my mark."
I gasped and hit his chest playfully. "That's what this is? Your mark?"
He only nodded and pulled me forward to kiss my neck when my phone went off. He threw his head back and groaned. "The next time somebody interrupts us like that I'm gonna strangle them!"
I shot him a look as I went to answer my phone. "Hello?"
"Brooke?"
"Who is this?" the number had come up unknown.
"It's Kayla. From school?"
"Kayla! Oh my gosh! Hi! I've missed you so much!"
Kayla had been my roommate in college. I had stayed in her off campus apartment during breaks so I didn't have to drive all the way here just to turn around and drive all the way back.
"Seems like it," she was saying. She sounded annoyed. "You never called me like you said you would. I've been worried sick!"
Oops. "Oh yeah...I'm sorry Kayla. The last week or so has been so hectic and everything what with the new job at the school and my new boyfriend."
I heard Jimmy take a deep breath and i turned to find him smiling at me. I hadn't called him that before today. Apparently it made him happy to hear it.
Kayla squealed in my ear. "Oh my! You have to tell me all about it!" All the annoyance was gone out of her voice.
"Well," I said, "I'm kinda with him right now. Can I call you tomorrow? I promise I will this time."
"You better. Or I will hunt your skinny ass down. Loveyabye"
I shook my head at the phone. Why did I associate with crazy people?
I was putting my phone back in my purse as I felt a pair of long arms wrap around my waist. Jimmy placed his chin on my shoulder. "So...who's kayla? Haven't mentioned her before."
I turned in his arms and smiled. "Friend from college," I said. "And like I told her, my life has been crazy since I got home."
"hmmm yes, with your boyfriend," he said lightly kissing my neck. "I'll have to meet him soon."
I laughed. "Definately."
Jimmy stood up straight and looked me in the eyes. "Follow me" He said, pulling me by my hand heading towards his bedroom.
