Forgotten Faces
Drive home
Brian´s POV
I ran over to Mia. She had the glass on her lips and half of the liquid was already gone when I arrived. She looked at me in question but put the rest of the glass down. I ran to the guy who slipped the pill into her drink. I grabbed him by the collar and shoved him against the wall and hit him right in the face. His nose started bleeding immediately and I punched him again.
“You slipped something into my girls drink. You asshole! What was it!? Damn it! “
Just when I wanted to punch him again, Matt came over “What the fuck…Brian stop it. He is already unconscious. What´s wrong anyway?!”
Mia was still standing at the bar looking our way. When I saw her hands I could see she had a death grip on the barstool, “Matt… I don’t feel so… good.”
Matt went to her and grabbed her just in time before she hit the floor. My fingers itched to hit the guy again.
Then the security and a police man came. “Paramedics will be here shortly.” the policeman looked at Matt.
“Tell me what happened.” Matt motioned to me, “He was here first. “
I let the guy slide to the floor, “I was talking to Mia when I saw a guy leaning over to slip something into her drink. I tried to warn her but she already drank half of it. The glass should still be at the Bar. Well, I grabbed the guy and held him here until you came.”
“Held him? He looks kind of bloody… it was self defense, I guess?” the police man suggested.
I shrugged my shoulders, “He wanted to hit me and I knocked him out first. That’s it.”
I looked at Mia. Matt held her in his arms while the paramedics looked at her, “Are we done here, I need to check on my girl?!”
“Yes, that would be all for now, but we need to talk to her tomorrow.” The policeman went over to Matt and Mia, I followed. “Can you give me the address where we can reach her tomorrow? We need to question her as well. “
Matt nodded, “Sure. Here is the Address.” “I will be there if you have some more questions.” I added. Matt looked unhappy at the thought.
“Ok. She needs to sleep a lot but it would be best if someone stayed with her for the next 24 – 48 hours. I´m not sure how intense she will react to this date-rape-drug. If anything unusual happens please go to the hospital and let her be checked.” The paramedic packed his things gave us some headache pills and other medication we might need.
Matt´s POV
We went to the car I had organized for the drive home. I had Mia in my arms but in my imagination for the rest of the evening it would have been a happy and smiling Mia, but when I looked at her now she felt nearly lifeless just a shallow breathing reminded me that she was alive.
Brian opened the back door. I laid her on the seat and slipped in next to her.
Brian raised his eyebrows but kept his mouth shut. We arrived at her house.
