Forgotten Faces
I made my decision
Mia´s POV
After the first day I tried to call Brian but he didn’t pick up. I left him a message.
On the second day I got a call, I quickly picked up, “Brian??!!”
“Sorry. No, it´s me… Matt. He didn’t call you?”
“No. He didn’t, since when do you have my new number?” I asked him confused.
“Oh, Jimmy… well and he got it from Heather I think. I just wanted to ask you if you like to drink a coffee with me or grab something to eat?”
“Matt… no I don´t think that that would be good in this situation. I need to talk to Brian first…”
“We did nothing wrong, Mia! That was 6 years ago… I would like to talk to you again. Will you call me if you think the time is right?”
“I…guess so.”
The time passed so slowly. My days were all the same, get up to work, eat a little, go back to bed and get up again…
Always waiting for Brian to call…
After the 5th day he really called. “Hey it’s me… Brian. Are you at home by six? Can I come around?!”
I was so relieved that he actually called. “Yes. Sure I will be here. It is so good to hear your voice again, Brian. I missed you, babe.”
“I´ll see you by six.” And he hung up.
Brian´s POV
I was sitting in my car it was nearly six. Her car was standing in her driveway.
I still can´t wrap my mind around this whole situation. Matt and her… I can still hear her moaning his name in my head. That is just sick.
I got out of the car and knocked on her door.
She opened and looked as beautiful as ever. Her dark brown hair was falling in waves down her shoulders and back. She was wearing a slim fit grey jeans and the blouse I ripped of off her just a couple of days ago.
She smiled at me but I noticed the dark circles under her eyes. She hasn’t slept much in the last couple of days, just like me.
I went to her couch and motioned her to sit down next to me.
“I thought about this situation. I´m sorry I didn´t call back, but I needed this time to think.”
“It´s ok Brian… I´m glad you came to talk.”
“Yes, so I wanted to tell you that this between us. It will not work out. I can´t stay the thought that you were with Matt. I just…”
She interrupted me, “You mean that you want to break up? That you will end this between us because of a fling that happened before we have even known from each other? You cannot blame me for that… I didn’t betray you…Brian…”
I got up from the couch. And damn it she was right. But still my feelings were in a twist. When I saw how gentle and loving Matt looked at her when he discovered she was his crush from England?! I still felt the jealousy burn in my stomach at his look and her smile when she recognized him.
I walked over to her kitchen unit. “I know that. Damn it, but it doesn’t change my decision! We should let this rest. I´m sorry but I don´t wanna see you again. Please don´t call me.”
“Don’t you say that, Brian. Please I beg you. How can your feelings just vanish? I thought you loved me? Is that not worth fighting for? I did nothing wrong…” She had tears in her eyes and was now standing in front of me.
I took her cheeks in my hands and kissed her full lips one last time.
Then I went to the door and I didn’t turn around when I heard her start to cry. I closed the door behind me and sank down on the other side… What have I done?!
