The next day the doctor released Brayden and Payson from the hospital, we were pulling up into the driveway.
“Did you and Matt finish the nursery?” She asked
I nodded and I got out of the car, she got out and then got Payson out of the car seat.
“Let’s go see.” She smiled
I nodded and we went into the house and upstairs
“Oh my god it’s amazing.” She said
I smiled as she put Payson down in the crib and looked around the room, she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me.
“She’s fed, changed and, sleeping.” Brayden said
I nodded and she yawned.
“Let’s get you into some pajamas and we’ll take a nap in our comfortable bed.” I said
She nodded and we walked into the bedroom. I carefully helped her change into one of my shirts and she laid in the bed. I pulled my shirt off and put some sweat pants on and crawled next to her. I pulled her to me and she fell asleep instantly, I was soon after her. I was woken up by Payson crying, I looked at the clock and it had only been three hours. Brayden started to stir and get up.
“Stay I’ll get her.” I said
“She’s probably hungry.” She mumbled
“I know what to do.” I said
She grunted and pulled the blanket back up to her shoulders. I walked out of the room and into the nursery and picked up Payson.
“Hey baby girl what’s wrong?” I asked bouncing her a little.
She was still wailing so I decided that she was hungry, I walked down to the kitchen and got a bottle out of the cabinet. Brayden decided that she didn’t want to breast feed so we bought some newborn formula. I heated the water up and put it in the bottle and I added the right amount of the formula powder and shook it up. I tested the heat on my wrist and it was perfect just like me. I put the bottle to her mouth and she took it, I walked around feeding her until she was done.
“That was quick. I can see it now, you’re going to be a chubby baby. But you know what? The chubbier they are the cuter.” I said
I put the bottle into the sink and burped her.
“That was a big one.” I said after she burped.
I walked back up to the nursery and rocked her until she was asleep. I laid her back into the crib and went back to our room. Brayden was laying there cuddled up to a pillow, I moved the pillow and laid next to her, she cuddled into my chest.
“Thank you.” She mumbled
“I’ll get her for the rest of the day. You sleep.” I said
“You’re the best.” She said I kissed the top of her head and went back to sleep. I woke up the next morning to the smell of bacon filling the house, I got up and followed the smell and I ended up in the living room where Payson was asleep in her car seat, that thing came out of the car and snapped back in I had no clue… I thought they were stationary. I left her there and continued to follow the yummy smell. When I walked into the kitchen Brayden was cooking and listening to our song Fiction, she was dancing around and singing to it, she was oblivious to me being in the room, I felt like scaring her. Hehe. I walked up behind her, when my line ‘Let it burn’ came up I got close to her ear.
“Let it burnnnnn.” I whispered
She let out a little shriek and hit me in my chest with the spatula she had.
“Jimmy.” She breathed out holding her chest
“You scared me.” She added
I looked down at my chest where she hit me, it hurt.
“I’m sorry.” She said
“It’s fine, it was my fault anyways. I just wanted to make my presence known.” I said
“By scaring the piss out of me?” She asked
I laughed, she handed me the spatula.
“I was serious.” She said
“You peed?” I asked
She glared at me.
“I just had a baby.” She said
I laughed and she walked upstairs and changed. I finished cooking the bacon and eggs that she had started. When she came back down she pulled Payson out of the car seat and came back in the kitchen and grabbed a bottle for her.
“Ready to eat?” She asked I nodded and began to help her plate the food, we sat down at the table and she was feeding Payson and herself at the same time.
“It’s been a while since you’ve eaten bacon.” I said
“It made me really nauseous but I craved it this morning. Did she sleep the rest of the night?” She asked “Yep.” I said
She smiled
“I love you.” She said
“I love you too.” I said
