Chapter Two
I woke up to the sound of Jimmy’s quiet whispering.
“Morning baby.” He said
“Morning.” I said
I noticed a pink little bundle in his arms.
“Is that her?” I asked
He nodded and stood up and walked over to me and I moved over a bit causing a sharp pain to shoot through me. I also noticed the room was different. He sat down next to me and handed me her.
“She’s so small.” I said
“Seven pounds and one ounce and she’s sixteen inches long.” He said
I smiled and the doctor walked in.
“Good morning Miss. Winchester.” She said
“Morning.” I said
“I would like you two to sign the birth certificate.” She said
She handed it to Jimmy and then to me.
“Can I sign Brayden Sullivan since we’re getting married soon?” I asked
“Go ahead.” She said
I signed them and she put them into a folder.
“Payson is healthy but she does have Heterochromia iridium.” She said
“What?” I asked
“One of her eyes is brown and the other is blue.” Jimmy said
“Oh.” I said
The doctor nodded and I looked down at my daughter.
“Jimmy we’re a family.” I said
“Yes we are.” He said
Payson woke up and opened her eyes.
“Oh my god that’s fucking beautiful.” I said
“I wanted her to have brown eyes.” Jimmy said
“I wanted blue.” I said
We looked at each other and smiled.
“I’m going to go get everyone.” I said
“Who is all out there?” I asked
“Matt, Brian, Johnny, Zacky, Val, Madison, Lacey, Gena, Papa Gates, Your mom, My mom, My dad.” He said
“How long have they all been here?” I asked
“Since you were in labor. They slept in the waiting room and they’ve been eating at the Tim Horton’s on the first floor.” He said
I nodded.
He got up and walked out of the room.
“Your family is going to love you little one. You’ve got it all set, no one is ever going to pick on you ever.” I said to her
She reached up and grabbed my necklace. I smiled and she started at me with her awesome eyes.
“Hey mama.” I heard Val say entering the room.
I’m glad I had a big room because a lot of people piled in.
“Hi.” I said
I looked around as Jimmy sat down next to me; his mom was taking some pictures.
“Do you want to hold your granddaughter?” I asked her
She smiled and nodded. She walked over to me and I handed her Payson, she took her and a huge smiled broke out on her face.
“Heterochromia iridium.” Zacky said
I looked at him and he was looking at Payson in Jimmy’s moms arms.
“How’d you know that?” I asked
“I did a paper on it in class one year in high school.” He said
“What is it?” Val asked
“It’s where one of her eyes in a different color or color variation than the other because of the pigment. With Payson one is brown and the other is blue.” Zacky said
All of the guys were looking at him like he’s crazy.
“Wow who knew Vengeance was smart?” Johnny said
“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on his ability to climb a tree, it will live it’s whole like believing that it is stupid.” Papa Gates said
Everyone looked at him confused.
“Whoever knows who said that I’ll give you fifty bucks.” He said
“Albert Einstein.” Jimmy said
I laughed when Papa huffed and pulled out his wallet. Payson got passed around the room and when Madison got her she cried.
“Why are you crying?” I asked
“I’m going to have one of these too.” She said
“We’re.” Brian said
“He’s mine right now. When he comes out he’s ours.” Madison said
I smiled and she passed Payson to my mom. I was still pissed at my mom and I somewhat didn’t think of her as my mom after what happened but she was and I couldn’t deprive her of seeing her granddaughter, and plus she hasn’t hurt my Papa Gates yet. My mom was in tears and she handed Payson to Papa and walked over to me.
“I’m so proud of you Brayden.” She said sitting on the bed to hug me.
“Thanks.” I said
“You two made a very beautiful baby girl.” Papa said handing Payson to Jimmy.
“I’m ready for a real sleep in my bed.” Zacky said
“Guys go home and get some rest.” I said
They all looked at me and nodded, after they all left my doctor came in and showed me how to breastfeed. After all of that she put Payson in the plastic crib and left without saying a word to Jimmy and me.
“What did they leave in the corner?” I asked
Jimmy got up and pulled a pillow out of the chair. Not just any pillow one of the pillows from our bed.
“One of our pillows.” He smiled excitedly
“Hey I came to tell you guys something.” Matt said popping his head into the room.
“Yes my darling?” I asked
“The car seat is installed in your cars.” He said
“Did you do it?” I asked
“I did the one in Jimmy’s car here at the hospital and Zacky did the one in yours.” He said
“Tell Zacky that I said thank you and that I love him.” I said
He pouted.
“Thank you Mattie and I love you too.” I said
He smiled and his dimples showed, he left and Jimmy came back over to the bed with the pillow.
“I think we get to go home tomorrow.” I said
He shrugged and then the doctor came in again.
“I’m here to teach you a few things.” She said
I nodded and she helped me out of the bed. She taught me how to change a diaper, how to swaddle the baby and some other things. She taught Jimmy as well.
“You two will be able to take your bundle of joy home tomorrow.” She said
I nodded and yawned, she left and Jimmy and I laid down in the uncomfortable hospital bed.
“I’m glad we had a daughter.” He said
“Why did you want a daughter so bad?” I asked
“A few reasons. I mean I want a boy too.” He said
“Can I know some reasons?” I asked
“Yeah. Well I wanted my first kid to look like her beautiful mother, I wanted to have a daddy’s girl, and it’s hard to be protective over a boy.” He said
I smiled and kissed him, I fiddled with my engagement ring.
“I knew you were going to be my wife and the mother of my children the first week when you stayed at my house.” He said
“How so?” I asked
“I don’t know I had a weird connection to you.” He said
“Do you remember the dishes?” I asked
He looked at me confused.
“It was my first actual day in your house.” I said
“Oh I think I know what you’re talking about.” He said
“I cooked breakfast.” I said
“I remember sitting down to eat and thinking that I could get used to waking up and eating breakfast with a beautiful girl across from me, I had trouble looking away.” He said
I smiled.
“After breakfast when I sprinted to the kitchen with our dishes so I could do them and you dragged me away from the sink making me drop the plate and shatter it. You have no idea how bad I felt about that.” I said
“It was just a plate. That’s when I actually heard your laugh, the little snort and then you go silent.” He said
“Gah I hate my laugh.” I said
“Then you decided to tickle me.” I added
“That was the day of our first kiss that I pulled away from.” He said
I nodded.
“I only pulled away because you were seventeen.” He said
“That didn’t stop you from taking me to your room.” I said
He smiled
We laid there thinking about that first time until we both fell asleep.
“Morning baby.” He said
