Don't Tell Anyone
"What is it?"
"Val, what I'm about to say doesn't leave this room." I said looking deep into her eyes.
"What?"
"Meg and Britt was just here." I said looking down.
"What?"
"I know it's not possible but they were. They were here with me! They told me that they have been with me ever since Britt died and when Meg died in the bus...she was there too. Britt told me when I left the bus because of Meg's death, they were both there when I got back. They've been here ever since I got back. They were here when I stayed up in here all this time and they didn't want to freak me out by showing themselves too soon. I asked them to bring my parents the next time they come. They said they will." I explained and by the look in her eyes she knew I was telling the truth.
"I can't believe it. Do you think they will let me see them?"
"I don't know yet. I will have to ask them tomorrow night when they come back." I said sighing.
"Oh wow this is big stuff Ame. I promise you, what you've told me will not leave this room but please let me know what happens."
"I will." I said smiling.
"Now get ready and come downstairs. We have a barbecue to go to."
"Alright." I said smiling. I watched as Val got up and walked out the door. I got to my feet and grabbed me some clothes and headed to the bathroom. I changed quickly and headed out, placing my dirty clothes in the laundry basket. I looked and seen the razor.
I walked over and picked it up remembering the words that Meg and Britt said to me. I threw the razor in the trash and walked out shutting my door behind me. I went downstairs and Matt and Val were waiting by the door. I smiled and walked up to them.
"Hey baby girl." Matt said and I hugged him. He looked at me confused and I just smiled before opening the door and walking out. We all piled into the car and headed over to Brian's. I looked out the window and seen the beautiful night sky and I just smiled. We arrived at Brian's a short time later and as Matt put the car in park and cut the engine I got out and walked into Brian's house. I went to the kitchen and seen Brian sitting at the bar.
"Hey Brian!" I said sitting down beside him.
"Hey girl what's up?"
"Nothing much. I had fun today and I'm in such a good mood." I said happily.
"Good. I need to go check on the steaks. I'll be right back." I watched as he got up and walked out the sliding glass door. I got up and went into the living room and sat down on the couch turning on the TV. I looked out the door and seen the guys sitting around and the girls talking amongst themselves.
I wanted to go outside but in some way I didn't. I could feel the presence of Meg and Britt in the room. I looked around. No one was there but I knew they were.
"Meg, Britt. I know you're here."
"Then go outside and have fun." Meg whispered into my ear.
I nodded and got up turning off the TV. I walked out the glass door and sat down beside Gena and Val.
"So girl I hear you seem more relaxed now."
"Going to the spa really helped. I feel more like myself now." I said and I knew it was a lie. I wouldn't be myself unless my friends brought my parents to me.
"Good. We want you to feel more relaxed. Now who wants to get into the pool?"
"I do." Lacy, Leanna, and Val said in unison. I shook my head no for me and watched as they jumped in the warm pool. I hated water but I wanted to go in. I walked over to the steps of the pool and put my feet in and sat down. The water was warm and it felt good.
I moved my feet under the water and I smiled. Jimmy was messing around with Johnny and it was so funny. They always made fun of Johnny's height but I thought Johnny was cool. Brian and Matt finished cooking the steaks and hamburgers and we ate. I was so full after a steak so I didn't bother touching a hamburger. The night was great. I mean I know I still feel bad about losing my friends and I want to keep them around but I was also a little nervous to be seeing my parents tomorrow. It was time to leave and we said goodbye to everyone and we made our way back to the house. I looked up at the starry night and I was at peace. I laid my head against the window and closed my eyes. I let the joy of sleep overcome me.
