No Pulse Inside of Me

Epilogue

Third Person POV: Two days before Christmas:
“So are you going to tell me where we’re going?” Tammy asked Brian for the millionth time in the past week. She rolled her eyes at Brian’s smirk as he shook his head. “You suck.” she grumbled as she unhooked her seat belt. They were currently in the air on the jet. “What do you think baby girl?” she asked turning her attention to the 10 month old little girl in her car seat, “Think daddy should tell us where we’re going?” she asked, lifting her out, and setting her on her lap. “She,” Brian said gently grabbing the little girl, and setting her in his lap, “Already knows.” he finished with a smug smirk as he bounced the giggling baby on his knees. Tammy narrowed her eyes, and crossed her arms over her chest. “You’re so lucky I like surprises.” she said letting a smile grace her lips.

The flight wasn’t that long, but there was a definite change in scenery. There’s no snow in California. At least not where they are. The airport they landed at was a private airport that didn’t give much away. Tammy had an idea of what he was up too, but she didn’t want to get her hopes up too much. Brian pulled out a duffel bag behind his seat when the plane landed, and pulled out coats, and other items for the three of them. It was sunny and 80 when they left California. It’s not here. Tammy started chuckling to herself as she bundled up the baby. “What’s so funny?” Brian asked curiously as he put his coat on. “You can’t handle 50 and windy. I can’t wait to see you in 2 with a windchill of -20.” she laughed at him. “Well to bad for you, I don’t plan on being outside that long.” he said picking up the car seat with little Lilith Rose tucked warmly inside. “Brian where are we?” Tammy asked with a last desperate attemt. He sighed, and stood next to her. “We’re exactly where you think we are.” he said giving her a quick peck on the cheek before walking to the door.

Tammy smiled so wide it hurt as she followed Brian to the door. “Holy Shit.” he hissed when he was blasted with the freezing Iowa cold. Tammy just chucked at him as they walked down the steps, and quickly to the waiting car. She wasn’t going to deny the fact it was pretty fucking cold. She was probably right about it feeling like 20 below, but she kind of missed it. The driver opened the back door, and Brian bucked the car seat in before letting Tammy climb in. A smirk crossed her face as Brian went around to the other side. She reached over and slammed the lock down before the driver could open the door. Brian had the driver use his key, but Tammy kept her hand on the lock. “Cold?” she asked cracking the window. “Open the fucking door.” Brian said not really enjoying her little game. “You’re more than welcome to get in your seat.” she told the driver ignoring Brian.

The driver gave Brian a sympathetic look before getting in the driver seat. “Open the door.” Brian said getting irritated. “Admit you’re a pussy and can’t handle the cold.” she said with a mischievous grin. “No!” he said. “Say it.” “Open the door!” “Say it and I will.” she said. “Fine! I’m a pussy and can’t handle the cold! Now open the fucking door!” he finally caved. Tammy giggled and unlocked the door. Brian climbed in, and slammed the door. He glared over at her as she tried to hold in her smile. “You’re such a fucking bitch.” he said finally cracking a smile. She couldn’t help but laugh. “That was so mean.” he said shaking his head, and blowing into his hands to try to warm them up. “Yea, but it was funny.” she said grinning at him. “I disagree.” he said, not returning her smile.

They pulled out of the airport, and set out for the city of Des Moines. It wasn’t a big city, but it wasn’t a small town. Not a lot had changed the last time Tammy was here, and she could feel the familiar feeling of home. They pulled up to a large two story house, and Tammy gave Brian a confused look. “Whose house is this?” she asked as he dug around in his pocket. “Ours.” he said pulling out some keys, and dangling them in front of her. She smiled, and tried to grab the keys, but he yanked them back. She pouted a little, and he quickly pecked her lips before climbing out of the car. Tammy chuckled as she watched him run up to the door, and open it.

Brian left the door open to the house, and ran back to the car in time to snag the car seat out of Tammy’s hands. “I can carry her too you know.” she grumbled following Brian inside. “I know.” is all he said as he closed the door behind them. Tammy wondered around the house with awe. It was no where near as big as the mansion, but it wasn’t small. Five bedrooms, and three bathrooms, completely furnished, decorated for Christmas, but not overly done. There was a beautiful 8 foot tree in the den, completely decorated. Lilly had her own room with toys and clothes. Their room had clothes as well. She understood now why Brian said not to pack anything. He had everything here. “Welcome home mommy.” Brian said from behind her. She turned to see him standing in their bedroom doorway with a smiling, drooling baby in his arms. “Well home away from home.” he added.

Tammy smiled as she walked over to the two. “So is this where you were when you went on that “job” you couldn’t tell me anything about?” she asked taking Lilly from him as the baby reached for her. He had been gone for two weeks last month, and wouldn’t tell her where he was going. It was unusual for him, he normally does if she can’t go with him. “Maybe.” he said with a grin. “Thank you.” she whispered before placing a soft kiss on his lips. “Don’t thank me yet.” he said when they pulled away. She looked at him a little confused as he made his way to the door. “Should probably get some rest,” he said, “There’s lots more to come.” he finished with a wink as he walked out of the bedroom.

Christmas Eve:
Tammy bounced excitedly in the back seat. Lilly was in the middle in her seat with Brian on the other side. Of course Brian wasn’t letting on to where they were going, but she recognized the neighborhood. How could she not. Her grandmother has lived in this neighborhood for as long as she could remember. Brian chuckled at her hastiness as she jumped out of the car before it came to a complete stop in her grandmothers driveway. Nothing had changed. It was still white, the porch was still screened it. She threw open the front door, and everyone still spent Christmas Eve here.

So many faces, old ones, and new ones. Cousins, married with kids, and her grandmother the first in her arms. “I missed you so much.” Tammy whispered as she held her, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I missed you too.” her grandmother whispered too. “I wrote, but I’m sure it never got sent,” Tammy started to explain, “You won’t believe all that’s happened. You’d think it was a work of fiction.” she said with a slight chuckle as they pulled away. “You don’t have to explain anything.” her grandmother told her as she wiped a few of Tammy’s tears away. “They already know.” she heard Brian’s voice behind her. “They do?” she asked turning to face him standing there with the baby. “Brian told us everything sweetheart.” her grandma said. “Did you plan this?” she asked him with a wide smile. He just returned her smile, and held out their daughter to her. “Lilly wants to meet her family mommy.” he said in a child's voice as she took the baby from him. “Thank-” Brian cut her off. “Not yet.” he said quickly pecking her lips before walking past her further into the living room to greet people. He had seen them all a month ago. The house wasn’t the only reason he was here. He wanted to make sure they knew everything that happened, so she didn’t have too tell them. She could just spend the time reconnecting with the family she thought she lost.

The day couldn’t have been more perfect. It was a sunny, and a calm 35 degrees. The snow was just right for snowballs, and snowmen. Tammy even talked Brian into sledding down the hill in her grandmothers back yard. It was the first time he’s actually played in the snow, and after awhile of sledding, and snowball fights, the cold didn’t seem to faze him much. There, of course, was dinner and gifts. Tammy panicked a little because she didn’t think they had brought anything for anyone. She always hated getting and not giving. Brian on the other hand already had it taken care of. No one got something individually. He didn’t know them that well, but no one was complaining about the thousand dollar gift cards they all got.

The day turned to night, and they decided to leave when Lilly started getting tired and fussy. Tammy rubbed her cheeks as they made there way home. The smile hasn’t left her since they landed, and it felt like her face was going to slide off her skull. “Did you have fun today baby?” Brian asked looking over at her. She didn’t want to smile, but she couldn’t stop it. “I had a great time. I still can’t believe you did all this.” she said, reaching over the car seat with a sleeping baby inside, so she could hold his hand. “And I still can’t believe you took a bullet for me.” he said before kissing the back of her hand. “I’d do it again.” she whispered. “No you won’t.” Brian said sternly making her chuckle.

The driver turned into the driveway, and Tammy looked confused at the house. “We didn’t leave any lights on.” she said looking at Brian. He smiled that mischievous grin, that Tammy’s been contemplating ripping of his face, at her. “I know.” he said as the driver opened his door. “You’re killin me Smalls.” she said as the driver opened her door. Brian chucked as he took the sleeping baby out of the car. Tammy followed him up to the door, and he opened it without needing to unlock it. They heard voices coming from the den, and the painful smile graced Tammy’s lips again at the familiar voices. “I’m going to go put her to bed,” Brian whispered over his shoulder, “Why don’t you go see whose here.” he finished as he walked up the stairs.

Tammy sighed, and shook her head as she made her way to the den. She really didn’t know how many more surprises she could handle. They’ve been great and all, but there’s only so much a person can handle in 24 hours. Her cheeks ached as the smile came out again when she seen the guys there. Even Kirk was here. She didn’t think she was going to get to see him this year. He even sounded genuinely disappointed, and upset that he was going to miss out on his granddaughters first Christmas because Brian had some big thing planned that he wouldn’t tell her anything about. “Merry Christmas!” Jimmy shouted being the first to notice her come in. “Merry Christmas.” she replied letting him envelope her into a bone crushing hug. “Did you all know about this?” she asked once Jimmy let her breath. Their knowing grins gave everything away even though they shook their head. “Fuckin liars.” she chuckled.

Tammy walked over to Kirk, and hugged him. “I didn’t think I was going to get to see you,” she said pulling away, “You had me convinced you were upset.” she said narrowing her eyes with a small smile. He chuckled at her. “I know, I should take up acting,” he said thoughtfully stroking his chin, “Besides, you didn’t think I would miss my grandbaby’s first Christmas did you?” he said giving her a knowing look. “No, I guess not.” she said shaking her head. “Where is my little Rosebud anyway?” Jimmy asked. “Sleeping. Brian took her upstairs.” she said watching Jimmy pout a little. “Sorry.” she said mimicking his pout. “It’s okay,” he said plopping an arm on her shoulders, “I guess I can see her tomorrow.” he said feigning disappointment. She just smiled up at him, shaking her head a little.

“So how’s the fam?” Jimmy asked changing the subject. “Great,” she said, the smile back on her face, “No one’s changed a bit. There were some new faces, but it was just,” she paused reminiscing the day, “Just great.” she happily sighed out. “Good,” he said giving her a side hug, “You have no idea how hard it was keeping everything a secret.” he told her with a tired look. She chuckled “I feel your pain. Brian’s been killing me with the surprises.” she said as Jimmy removed his arm. “Think you can handle one more.” she heard Brian’s voice behind her.

Tammy turned to face him only to have to look down. Her eyes widened, and her heart began to race as she looked at him on one knee holding a small black velvet box. “Will you marry me?” he asked opening the box that held one of the most beautiful diamond rings she had ever seen. The stones weren’t to big. Brian knew she didn’t like big rocks. The center one was a yellow diamond with two smaller white diamonds on either sides of it, and three smaller diamonds set in the band on either sides of those. “Oh fuck yeah!” she said with a teary smile. Brian chuckled, and pulled the ring out of the box as he stood up. “Something told me I wasn’t going to get a regular yes.” he said as he slid the ring on her finger.

She admired the ring for a moment before wrapping her arms around Brian’s neck. “I love you.” she said. “I love you too.” he said, pulling her in for a kiss that made her head spin, and her heart race as the people seemed to disappear around them. “I’VE GOT IT!” Jimmy shouted, throwing his hands up as if he just had an epiphany. Brian and Tammy jumped apart startled, and looked slightly confused at Jimmy’s sudden out burst. Not that it was unusual. “Synderella.” he said with a proud smile. “What the fuck are you talking about?” Tammy asked with an amused smile. “Your gang name.” he said obviously. “I didn’t know we were coming up with one.” she said still amused. “We weren’t, I was.” he stated the smile still on his face. “Took you long enough.” Zacky snickered. “You can’t rush genius.” Jimmy said shrugging of Zacky’s attempt to mess with him. “Cinderella, Jimmy really?” Brian asked giving him an unsure look. “Not like the Disney Princess.” Jimmy said waving him off. “Yea we all know she’s no princess.” JB snickered. “Shut your fucking mouth before I shove my royal foot up your ass.” Tammy said giving him the finger. “Anytime you think you’re big enough.” JB said holding out his arms challenging her. “I’m big enough.” Brian stated with a cocky smirk that wiped the smile off Jason’s face.

Jimmy cleared his throat, a little irritated that he was interrupted. The chuckling quieted. “Sorry Jimmy you were saying.” Tammy said giving him the floor again. He smiled, and returned to his explanation. “As I was saying, not Cinderella like the character. Synderella with a S-Y-N,” he explained watching smiles form, “Now that you have your Prince Charming,” he said wiggling a finger at Brian, “You can have your happily ever after.” Jimmy finished with his proud grin. “Wait! I found my Prince Charming? Well were the hell is he?” Tammy asked faking surprise, looking around. “Oh haha.” Brian said as she giggled next to him. The guys chuckled, and Tammy grinned up at Brian before looking to Jimmy. “I like it.” she said giving him her approval.

Jimmy smiled wide at her. “Make it official Mattie.” Jimmy said gesturing to him. “I kind of can’t till we get home.” Matt said. “So do something verbal. I don’t give a shit just make it official.” Jimmy said placing his hands on his hips. “Fine. I here by deem you Synderella of Avenged Sevenfold.” Matt said to Tammy, waving his hand a little in the air with a roll of his eyes. “Happy?” he asked looking to Jimmy with a smile. “Yes.” he stated. Tammy giggled a little at Jimmy, and looked around at her family, and then at Brian. She did find her Prince Charming, and maybe she could have her happily ever after.

Notes

This took me forever to write. I have been so distracted by the sequel. I honestly don't see how some people can have multiple stories going without frying their brain.
Hope it doesn't seem rushed I had to get it done.
Shout out to MoMo_92 for the awesome gang name. THANKS AGAIN!! :)
And of course shout outs to all my awesome readers that stuck through the story. You all rock, and I hope everyone enjoys the sequel to come.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!! :)

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
