No Pulse Inside of Me

Chapter 45

Third Person POV:
Tobin made his way through the forest that surrounded the house. He came up to the 8 foot high brick wall that separated him from the house. Taking note of the razor wire that sat atop of the wall, he pulled on some leather gloves, and held a pair of wire cutters in his teeth. He tossed his grapple rope over the wall, and pulled on it till it caught the ledge on the other side. Climbing to the top, he wrapped the rope around his arm for support, and cut a large enough section of the razor wire off to get over. He pulled himself up, and dropped down on the other side. Quickly, and silently, he made his way to the side of the house. Creeping to the front edge of the house, he pulled his knife off his belt and peeked around to see the guard. The guards back was too him. Staying close against the wall, Tobin made his way to the unsuspecting guard. He quickly covered his mouth, and jammed his knife upwards into the man’s skull from behind his ear. He let the man fall to the ground, and proceeded to make his way around back.

Brian and the rest of the guys walked back down the dirt road to the original road they were on. They didn’t turn down the road to the house, instead the crossed the old highway to the forest that lined the road on the other side. They would have more cover in the trees. They made their way through the brush carefully, so they didn’t make too much noise. It wasn’t too hard with the night vision goggles. The grin on James face never left as he would occasionally look around at the scenery. They stopped once they were directly across the road from the two guards at the gate. “Front door clear.” they heard Tobin in their ears.
James and Kirk took a few steps forward eyeballing the guards at the gate. The grin on James face got wider as he nudged Kirk with his elbow. “Bet mine hit’s the ground first.” James said quietly, pulling his knife off his belt. Kirk looked at James, a smile forming on his face. “You’re on.” he said pulling off his knife. “Count it down from 3 Shadz.” James said over his shoulder. With a dimpled smile, Matt walked closer to the two men. “3,” Kirk and James raised their knives. “2,” Keeping their eyes on the targets, they inhaled. “1,” Simultaneously they threw their knives at the guards, nailing them both in the forehead. With eyes wide, and mouths agape, the two guards took a few stunned steps before Kirk’s guard’s knees hit the ground a second before James. “Oh yea!” Kirk cheered raising his fists in the air. “I win again.” he said with a wide smile shoving James a little. James rolled his eyes and chuckled at his right hand as they walked across the road to the gate. “Back door clear. Working on the lock.” Tobin came through as the men retrieved their knives.
Brian pulled the code Jimmy gave him out of his pocket as Zacky sprayed down the hinges of the gate with WD40 in case they squeaked. Brian entered the six digit code, and the gate started to open. “Wait don’t anyone move.” they heard Jimmy. “Mike’s phone is ringing.”
Jimmy watched Mike on his monitor. He rolled over, and picked up his phone. Glancing at it, he silenced it, and rolled back over drifting off again. “Okay he went back to sleep.” Jimmy said, and the men continued with the plan.
Staying in the shadows, they made their way across the lawn, and around to the back. Tobin stood there leaned against the glass door, arms crossed and a smirk on his face. “Bout time.” he said quietly opening the door. “Told ya.” Jacoby whispered as they entered the house. They left the glass door open, and Zacky parted from them to set up the bombs on the first floor. “They’re all still asleep.” they heard Jimmy assure them as they crept down the hall to the basement door. “They’re at the door.” Jimmy told Tammy as she lay and wait. Chester, Jim, and Corey had joined Jimmy in his computer room when they knew that the guys would get there. They wanted to go, but they weren’t needed. To many people was a liability, and they had enough to out number Disturbed if conflict occurred.
Tobin worked on the three deadbolts first. There was a paddle lock as well as a combination lock. He worked quickly, unlocking the three locks in less than a minute. “What are you going to do about this?” Brian whispered pointing at the combination lock. Tobin flipped the lock over, and showed him the small key hole in the back of the lock. Brian nodded, and let Tobin continue with the locks. Tobin stepped away once he had the last lock open, and Brian quietly opened the door. He wanted to be the first one down there. They lucked out, the stairs were made of concrete, so they didn’t have to worry about them creaking. Brian pulled his goggles off, and practically ran down the stairs, and to the table Tammy was strapped to. Their eyes met briefly before he looked her over. “Tobin.” he quietly called him over. The buckles on the straps had paddle locks on them. Dave did not want her getting out of there. He had straps across her ankles, knees, pelvis, and ribs. Her arms were strapped at the wrists and elbows, and there was a single strap across her forehead. “Brian.” Matt said from behind him. He turned to look at Matt holding a metal tray. The look on Matt’s face almost made him not want to see what was in the tray, but he couldn’t stop himself. There before his eyes were Tammy’s bloody tattoos. The color drained from his face, and he turned back to face her. Tobin had the locks off, and the rest of the guys were working on the straps while Tobin set up the bomb. He walked around to the other side of the table, and she followed him with tear filled eyes. He silently looked over her, taking note of the bandages on her arms and legs. He closed his eyes at the sight of her broken fingers, and took several deep breaths as tried to suppress his rage.
The final strap was undone, and Brian yanked off his coat. He draped it over her, and carefully lifted her off the table. She buried her face into his neck, and inhaled him in. She rested her hands in her lap, not being able to hold on to him, but trusting, knowing he wouldn’t drop her. The group climbed the stairs meeting Zacky at the top. Jimmy, Corey, Jim, and Chester watched as the group made their way down the hall, and out the back door. Letting out sighs of relief when the last one stepped out the door, they finally relaxed for the first time since she was taken.
Brian held on to Tammy tightly, whispering comforting words in her ear as she silently sobbed. She wasn’t sad or scared. She was relieved, relieved that this nightmare was finally over. They walked out the gate, and down the road to where Johnny was waiting for them. Matt opened the door for Brian, and he climbed in to the back bench seat keeping her cradled in his arms. Johnny moved from the driver seat, and joined them in the back, Matt taking his place behind the wheel.
With a quick U-turn, Matt flipped on the lights, and drove them to the other vehicle. He turned down the dirt road, and pulled up behind the SUV. Throwing it in park, everyone but the three in the back climbed out. Zack popped the hatch again, and pulled out a detonator that had five switches and a big green button next to them as the rest tossed in their goggles. The group stood next to each other as Zacky flipped on all the switches, little red lights coming on above each one. “Shall we count it down?” he asked with a smirk placing his thumb on the green button. Altogether they counted down from five, and Zack pushed the button on one. The dark forest lit up like daylight as the house exploded in the distance. The sound vibrated the SUVs, and Tammy jumped at the explosion. Brian chuckled a little, and kissed her forehead holding her close. They felt the shock wave pass them like a warm breeze. If they would have been closer it would have knocked them on their asses. With a few cheers and applause, the celebration was kept short, so they could get back to the house quickly. They split up between the two vehicles, the only difference was Johnny who was looking over Tammy. There wasn’t much he could do for her here. They would need to get back, so he could operate on her fingers. Hopefully he could reset them all. They turned around, and drove back to the highway. The mood was light in the vehicles as they made the two hour drive back home. Finally they could get back to their “normal” lives.

The four men stood on the hill with binoculars in hand. They watched as their house exploded in the distance. Dave’s blood boiled in his veins as he watched it burn. See what Jimmy didn’t know was that, that was no call being made to Mike’s phone. What Jimmy didn’t know was that Mike’s phone was alerted every time the code to the gate was entered after they went to bed. He wasn’t silencing a call, he was setting up the bedroom cameras to start a loop after 10 seconds with a single touch of a button. Jimmy didn’t see Mike get up, and go through a door hidden behind a bookcase. A door that lead to a camera free passage way to everyone's rooms. Jimmy didn’t see Mike wake everyone up, and escape through the passage ways. They knew there would probably be too many to handle, so instead they just made an escape.
Dave let out a low growl, and chucked his binoculars. He balled his fists till his knuckles were white as he turned to their awaiting car. The other three followed, and climbed in. John took off in the opposite direction, and Dave watched the burning house disappear in the side mirror. He would let them have this one, but the war was far from over.

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
