It Worked!
I've counted the days since we've been in this bunker and today we can finally get out and see if anything has happened to the dead. I wonder if it really worked on them? Over these last few days, Brian and I have gotten closer and in such a short time I've gotten really close to Brian's son Damien. It took a lot of hard work to convince him that I would do nothing to hurt his father and he came to me yesterday and told me that I would make a great girlfriend for his dad. I know 12 days isn't a long time to say that you love a man especially someone as famous as Mr. Synyster fucking Gates but we've known each other for 9 long years. On a very happy note, Felicity and Jimmy and together. They are so right for each other in so many ways and I couldn't be happier for the both of them.
I grabbed my machine gun, just in case the cure didn't work, along with the CB radio and I exited the bunker first with Brian. I looked around but there was nothing here so we made our way to the entrance of the building. I looked out the glass doors but no one was in sight. We exited the building and I breathed in the cool air. It felt so good to be back outside and in the sun. The warmth that radiated off the sun felt amazing against my now pale skin. I set the CB on the hood of my truck and turned it on. I looked over at the others and then to Brian. He smiled and nodded his head as I switched to my first channel.
"If there is anyone out there that can hear me and heard my message 12 days ago, it's now safe to come out of your sheltered areas. Please if you have a CB radio...please respond to this message." I said and we waited several minutes but no voice rang into my ears. I was fixing to changed to my next channel when a voice rang out through the CB.
"Hello? Please respond back. We heard your transmission."
I looked over at Brian with a smile glued to my face.
"I'm here. My name is Serenity. What's yours?"
"This is General Halverson of the United States Army in Washington DC."
"Hello General. How does it look in Washington? Are there any Strays still walking around?"
"No ma'am and I can't even begin to express how...how your service to the United States of America is grateful. How many people do you have there?"
"We have 29 people including me plus 10 dogs. How many people are with you?"
"We have about 60,000 people with us and we are having more people join us everyday."
"60,000 people! I thought everyone was dead."
"Most of the people who have joined us were dead at one point but when we took blood samples of all of them...the traces of the disease was completely eradicated. We all are going across United States and gathering up people who were affected and making sure though. Where are you people at?"
"We're in Charolette, North Carolina at their National Guard Armory."
"Please stay there and I will radio you in a few days when we are on our way. I am personally going to give each member of this group something special."
"We'll be here at the National Guard Armory, General Halverson."
"See you in a few days, Serenity."
"Yes sir and have a safe trip here." I couldn't believe it and neither could anyone else in this group. 60,000 people have already joined the General and more would be joining them. I jumped into Brian's arms with excitement and he spun me around before setting me back on my feet. I can't believe it. The formula my father had worked on for so many months worked! My father will definately be the one honored for his service in finding this cure and he will be honored.
