Thirty Two: Do you ever feel like your alone?
“I… what… you… no you can’t do that!”
“Do what?!”
“That! Turn this whole thing back on me Ohmygod you are unbelievable!” And with that I turned and fled into the house.
“Riley don’t fucking run away from me!” I heard his footsteps on the wooden flooring behind mine. “Riley!” He caught my arm.
“Let go of me Zack!” I growled, glaring up at him. “You know that I’ve never liked the idea and then you go and force it on me in front of all our friends and everything
I can’t believe you!”
“How is this my fault you brought it up!” He yelled back.
“Yeah but you didn’t have to do that!” I wrenched my arm away from him and stormed out to my car that we’d driven here in. I got in and locked the doors, he tried the handle several times before slamming his hand on the top of the car.
“Riley don’t be like this! Just open the fucking door!”
“No” I turned the ignition on”
“Riley!”
I pulled out of the driveway and drove all the way home before I even stopped to
think about what had just happened. I pulled into the garage and switched off the ignition. I sat there for god knows how long. Zacky just asked me to marry him, he just asked me to marry him.
When I did get out of the car I got a weird look from the guard on the door but he didn’t say anything. I went up into the apartment and threw my keys down on the worktop and leaned against it. I heard someone moving around in the apartment and a minute later Zacky appeared.
“What the hell Riley?!”
“I’m not doing this” I said “You can’t put this on me Zack, after I told you how I felt
about it” I was getting angry and overwhelmed again.
“I didn’t know how you felt about marriage! We’ve never talked about it! Come to
fucking think of it we never fucking talk about anything!”
“Come do think of it we don’t, all you seem to wanna use me for is a fuck buddy, that’s basically what it feels like Zack”
“How can you say that I love you!”
“Yeah but you go and pull shit like this!”
“Fuck you don’t have to say yes! I don’t want to force to you into anything!”
“Really?! Cos that’s what it feels like you’re trying to do right now”
“Well excuse me for asking a question”
“Not in front of all our friends!”
“Well you brought it up!”
“You’re the one who had to fucking pop the question and make me look like a
complete idiot in front of everyone!”
“I made you look like an idiot?! How do you think I feel?!”
“I think we’ve established how you feel Zack”
“You’re a bitch”
“Yeah well you don’t have to worry about me anymore” I screamed “Because we are over” And with that I turned on my heel and slammed out of the apartment.

I ended up at my mom’s house in tears, she’d pulled me into her arms and hugged me until my tears dried up. That was the great thing about my Mom, she’d hug now and ask questions later. Later being now that I’d stopped crying.
“… and then he asked me to marry him”
“What?” She almost chocked on her soda.
“And I didn’t fucking know what to do so we started yelling and then I came home and so did he and then we yelled more, and then… then I broke up with him”
“Why?”
“Because I was pissed and angry and I did it in the heat of the moment”
“Okay sweetie, I understand what you mean, but I think you two need to sit down
and talk to each other, not now, give you both a couple of days to cool off and then talk about it, apologise to him, explain your issue with the idea”
“Yeah” I sniffed and wiped my eyes. “Thanks Mom, you’re the best”
“It’s what I’m here for baby” She said giving me on final hug.
