Thirty One: Love of mine, someday you will die, but I'll be close behind, to follow you into the dar
Zacky took me out for dinner tonight, he told me to dress nice cos the place we were going to was the kind where he had to wear a tie. I’d snorted with laughter at the image of him in a tie, I mean sure he wore bow ties a lot of the time of stage but seeing him in anything else was just a funny idea.
But I’d told him I’d go and that he wasn’t allowed to see me until it was time to leave, he said he felt like he was marrying me or something to which I’d laughed at and told him ‘no not yet’.
But that got me thinking, could I see myself marrying Zacky? We’d been friends since we were three, loved each other all that time although I’d only realised it until now, we’d been dating almost a month now, but I still couldn’t see myself marrying him. In saying that though I’d never thought of myself as the type of person to get married anyway. I’ve never seen the need for a ring to prove that you love someone and wanna spend the rest of your life with them.
“Babe are you almost ready?” Zacky called from the living room.
“Yeah! Let me just finish my makeup” I said applying a thin layer of lip-gloss over my lipstick and I was ready to go. I checked myself over once more in the mirror before I walked out of my room, my heels clunking on the hardwood floor. When I walked into the living room Zacky turned around and his eyes widened and he whistled low. “Do I look okay?” I asked him
“Okay? Babe if we didn’t have reservations I’d have to push you back into that bedroom and fuck you until neither of us could walk” He said
“A little more than what I was going for but thanks” I grinned at him.
“Of course you look okay” He said coming to me and pulling me close with one hand, “You look beautiful” He said kissing my lips softly before pulling away. I giggled and wiped his lips, some of the gloss came off on him. “Hmm what is that?” He asked smacking his lips.
“Peaches and cream” I said
“It’s nice”
“Yeah I know, now c’mon let’s go” I said taking his hand and leading him out to the car. He opened the door for me and I got it. He drove me to this place along the beach, it was swanky as hell, the walls all being made of glass with a rooftop bar and big winding silver stair cases and lots of twinkly white lights. “This is so beautiful” I said as we sat and waited for our drinks to come.
“I hoped you’d like it”
“Was this the place Matt brought Val to on like their third date?”
“Yeah, he told me about it, said I should bring you here, so I figured I would”
“So what’s the occasion?” I asked taking a sip of water.
“No occasion, just thought I should treat my beautiful girlfriend to dinner” He grinned and stroked my hand that was on the table. It made me blush like crazy. “I like it that I make you blush”
“Shut up” I mumbled as the waiter approached. He looked nervous as hell, and as I looked over I saw some of the other waiters snickering, I narrowed my eyes at them and turned back to the waiter. After a little stammering he nodded and walked off to get our order. “Looks like you just came across a little fanboy” I said to him.
“What?”
“Why do you think he was so damn nervous being near you?”
“You think he’s a fan?”
“Twenty bucks says he’s got a bedroom full of posters of you that he kisses goodnight”
“Okay that’s creepy”
“Maybe so but I’m sure people do it”
“Maybe not the poster part but the fan part I’m willing to bet on” He said
“You’re on”
We ate our meal and talked and then when it was time to leave we asked for the cheque. I wanted to at least pay for my dinner but Zacky wouldn’t hear of it, he paid for everything and just before we left I turned to the kid.
“So you’re an avenged sevenfold fan then?” I asked him, he looked startled by my question but nodded, his eyes wide. I giggled and Zacky sighed, pulling out his wallet and handing me a twenty. The kid was still staring at us. “Don’t be rude Zacky” I said, the kid’s jaw was practically on the floor by the time we’d left the place. Zacky gave him his autograph and took a picture with him, he looked like he was about to piss himself.
“How did you know he was a fan?”
“Please it was obvious”
“Okay maybe a little”
“Exactly” I said taking my shoes off and stepping down onto the sand and squishing my toes in the sand. Zacky laughed and sat down on the side of the pavement, pulling his shoes and socks off before stuffing his socks in his shoes and joining me in the sand. He took my hand and we wandered along the sand for a little while. It was a warm night so I wasn’t bothered by anything. The moon was massive and there was a warm breeze that was lifting my hair up off my shoulders a little, it was hopelessly romantic.
Eventually we stopped and Zacky put his jacket down on the sand and laid down, pulling me on top of him, and we just talked for a while before I kissed him, we kissed for a really long time before he rolled us over and moved his hands down my bare arms to my hands, he moved them to rest on the back of his neck before they moved further down my body. I’ve never been an exhibitionist or anything, but put it this way, thank God no one happened to be walking past the beach at two AM in the morning, otherwise they would have seen what Zacky and I had been up to, and we would have been arrested for public indecency.

“You did it on the beach?!” Val gasped. I giggled and nodded. “I never knew either of you were into that”
“Neither did I until last night” I laughed.
“So how was dinner though?”
“Vomit inducingly romantic, it was great”
“Aww how cute, watch out Riley, he’ll be trying to put a ring on your finger before you know it, I was just like that with Matt” She looked over at her husband, who was sitting with Brian and Johnny on the other side of the lawn.
“Ugh God no”
“You don’t wanna marry Zacky?”
“I’ve never wanted to marry anyone it’s not a personal thing”
“You’d be surprised, if he asked you I know you’d say yes”
“He wouldn’t ask me though”
“I wouldn’t ask you what?” Zacky asked coming out from the French doors.
“She thinks you wouldn’t ask her to marry you” Val said. Zacky looked confused for a second.
“Maybe not now, but someday” He said
“Yeah but I don’t wanna get married” I said
“You don’t wanna marry me?” He tried to hide the hurt in his eyes but I saw it flash there for a
second.
“I’ve never wanted to marry anyone, it’s not a personal thing Zacky, I just don’t feel
that I need a ring on my finger to prove that I’m in love with you to know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you” I said
“So you don’t wanna marry me?” He repeated.
“What? I never said that”
“You just did” I slapped my forehead.
“No I said that I never wanted to get married to anyone, I never have, I’ve never liked the idea of marriage and I don’t see the point in it”
“Oh so it’s pointless now?”
“To me… yeah kind of”
“Right” He said looking pissed off and walking off.
“No don’t walk away” I said getting up off the sun lounger “If you have something to say then say it” He looked at me for a moment before opening his mouth.
“Fine, that hurt, what you said”
“Zack it’s not personal I’ve never wanted to do it!” I said
“So you’re telling me that if I asked you now you would say no?”
“Of course I wouldn’t say no!”
“But you think marriage is stupid”
“Yes!”
“Then why would you agree to it?!”
“Because if that’s what you wanted then I wouldn’t have a problem with it!”
“But you just told me that you didn’t want to get married!” He yelled, everyone was staring
now.
“Ugh you’re fucking unbelievable Zacky! I said I didn’t want to, because I’ve never wanted to before, but I’ve never been in love with anyone like I have you so it would be fucking
different if you asked me!”
“Fine! Riley Katherine Summers will you marry me?!”
And everyone was shocked into silence.
