The next day I woke up around four when I heard my message tone. I rubbed my eyes and saw it was a message from Jimmy.
“I’m coming around to hang out before we go to Matt’s. I’ll drive us there.” I read as I shrugged and got dressed before going down stairs. No sooner I get downstairs Jimmy walked in the front door.
“Afternoon Jimmy dear, would you like something to drink?” Suzy asked.
“No thanks mam, I came to see Brian.” Jimmy said as he grabbed hold of my arm and led me upstairs. “Come on man.” Jimmy said as we went up to my room.
“What’s up Jim?” I asked as I sat on my bed. Jimmy closed the door as he grabbed the chair at my desk, placed it in front of me, straddled it and looked me in the eyes.

“I’ve heard some things, things I’m not happy about.” Jimmy said as I looked at him confused.
“What are you talking about Jimmy?” I asked.
“I heard that you took my sister out to dinner and a movie marathon.” Jimmy growled.
“We went out for dinner and to the movies as friends with Matt, Val and Zacky.” I said.
“From what I heard you paid for everything and you asked her to go before everyone else. That to me counts as a date.” Jimmy said as I shook my head.
“It wasn’t a date Jimmy. Ellie is my best friend just like you. I know how much she loves the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and I didn’t want her to miss out on the marathon so yes I paid. You were going to a party already so I wasn’t going to ask you.” I said as Jimmy shook his head.
“Well that’s not what I heard.” Jimmy said.

“Let me guess, you heard all this from Zack?” I asked.
“Yes who told me you admitted you like Ellie.” Jimmy said getting angry.
“Did he tell you he likes her too?” I asked as Jimmy went quiet. “Yeah, and that last night he told Ellie he LOVED her and she turned him down and he got pissed off.” I said.
“Yeah well Zacky isn’t my best friend, you are. I don’t want you dating Ellie. She’s my twin and you’re my best friend. If you were to ever hurt Ellie I would have to kill you.” Jimmy said.
“I’d never hurt Ellie, Jimmy. I love her and she’s my best friend too.” I said.
“I can’t let you Brian. Ellie is my sister and my job is to always protect her. We are twins so we share a bond. When she’s hurting I hurt too. I know she likes you, both from our bond and from listening in on hers and Val’s phone calls. Just, fall in love with someone else.” Jimmy said as I looked at him.

“Fall in love with someone else? You think I can just magically change who I love? That might be how you work but not me. I love Ellie and I want to date her.” I said sternly.
“Oh really, was that going to be before or after I found out??” Jimmy asked as I sighed.
“I was going to ask you first, you don’t just go dating your best friend’s sister. Even if she is your best friend as well. I was going to ask you before I said anything to her. You know I would never go behind your back Jimmy. I wouldn’t ask to date her if I didn’t feel the way I do about her. Please Jimmy, she’s the only girl I want and you know I will always take care of her.” I said as Jimmy sighed.
“I want to say yes but I can’t Brian. It’s too awkward of a situation.” Jimmy said.
“And what about Ellie? If she likes me and I like her why can’t we date?” I asked.
“Because I said no. You asked me and my answer is no, now accept it.” Jimmy said as I stood up.

I walked out of my room, out of the house and got in my own car. I started driving nowhere real fast. I couldn’t believe that Jimmy would do that to me, just turn on me like that. He knows I would never hurt Ellie so I don’t know why suddenly I’m not good enough to date her. I felt my fingers tingle as I realized I had a white knuckle grip on the steering wheel. I drove to Matt’s house and slammed the door as I got out the car. The front door opened and Matt appeared on the porch.
“Dude what’s wrong?” He asked as I walked past him and out to the backyard where Val and Zacky were sitting near a campfire. They looked up and Zacky gave a huge grin, obviously realizing Jimmy had spoke to me from my mood. I grabbed Matt’s arm and led him to his room as I closed the door. Matt sat on his bed while I remained standing to angry too sit.

“Brian I repeat, what is wrong?” Matt asked.
“Zacky and Jimmy. Well more to the point Zacky telling Jimmy I love Ellie and Jimmy blasting me. He told me to fall in love with someone else and didn’t show any interest when I told him Zacky loves her too and Zacky told her that.” I said as Matt shook his head.
“So, you’re not allowed to date Ellie?” Matt asked as I shook my head.
“Not even allowed to think about thinking about dating Ellie. He made it clear. We are best friends and best friends don’t date best friend’s sisters.” I said as Matt sighed.
“You could always talk to her dad.” Matt suggested.
“I would but do you think I would be allowed to sleep there anymore? No way.” I said.
“You know, it’s up to Ellie what she does and who she dates. Jimmy doesn’t have any control of her.” Matt said as I shrugged and finally sat on a stool.
“I go against Jimmy, I lose a friend. I go to her dad and I never get to stay there anymore. I’m going to lose either way. More importantly, I don’t want to upset Ellie.” I said.
“So what are you going to do?” Matt asked.
“Listen to Jimmy.Just leave it. Ellie isn’t that interested in dating anyway. I can live with the best friend label until she finishes school.” I said as Valary came in.

“I’m sorry, I listened outside the door because I knew there was only one thing that could make you as angry as you are. Don’t listen to Jimmy. Ellie wants to date you.” Val said as I sighed.
“I don’t want to upset anyone and no matter what I do I’m going to upset someone. At least Ellie and I can still be best friends that way.” I said as Matt leant in.
“Wow Brian, you really do love her if you’re willing to do that.” Matt said.
“I told you I would do anything for her. That includes waiting.” I said.
“So what about Zacky?” Val asked as I shrugged my shoulders.
“I don’t know, Jimmy will probably talk to him tonight.” I said.
“He better, Zacky kinda creeps Ellie out and now that she knows how he feels I don’t want her left with him. She has enough on her plate.” Val said.
“What do you mean?” I asked. Suddenly we heard a door open and close downstairs.

“Guys?” Ellie called out. I raced downstairs only to see Zacky giving Ellie a hug.
“Come on, Val and I got the fire started.” Zacky said as he led Ellie outside. Val and Matt came downstairs and I walked out into the backyard. The sun was setting and it was starting to get a bit cooler. I walked over to Ellie and sat next to her as she squeezed me in a tight hug.
“Hey Bri.” Ellie said.
“Hey, where’s Jimmy?” I asked.
“I don’t know, last I heard he was going to your house.” Ellie said as Zacky turned to me.
“Yeah, he came over and we talked for a bit.” I said. Val and Matt emerged from the house with Matt carrying beers and Val carrying crackers, marshmallows and chocolate.

“Oh awesome, s'mores!” Ellie said as her and Val started making some s'mores and I took a beer off Matt. Zacky mumbled something about needing the bathroom and went inside. I sighed as I watched Ellie and Val making a mess with the marshmallows and laugh at themselves.
“Just do it, so what if Jimmy hates you. He will get over himself eventually.” Matt said.
“I don’t want to cause a fight between Ellie and Jimmy. I can wait.” I said.
“And what about when she starts dating someone else?” Matt asked as I shook my head.
“I will have to grin and bear it.” I said as Ellie sat next to me and handed me a s'more.
“Thanks Elle.” I said as she messed up my hair.
“No problem.” Ellie said as Matt passed her a beer. A few minutes later Zacky returned with Jimmy.

“Ellie, can I talk to you?” Jimmy said as I felt Ellie go stiff. Cautiously Ellie stood up and followed Jimmy inside. We heard some muffled screams before they returned with Ellie’s eyes a little puffy. Ellie sat back down next to me and I could hear her whimpering quietly. I put my hand on her arm but Ellie pulled away. She had never been like this with me before. Jimmy, Zacky and Matt were talking when I pulled Ellie closer.
“Ellie what’s wrong?” I asked as she shook her head.
“Nothing, I don’t want to talk about it.” Ellie said as I lifted her chin up.
“Remember yesterday you promised you would talk to me later? It’s later, now talk.” I said.
“There’s a lot of stuff going on Brian. I don’t think you will care and I don’t really want to talk about it.” Ellie said as I scooted closer.

“I’m all ears to anything you need to talk about.” I said as Ellie sighed.
“I’m just stressed about school and college and everything that is coming when I finish school. I can be spontaneous but I have a huge fear of the unknown.” Ellie said.
“Of all people what do you have to worry about school or college? You are valedictorian for sure. You will get into whatever college you want. If anyone should be worried about what they are doing after school it should be me.” I said being honest. I had no idea what I was going to do.
“Hey, don’t you tell me you haven’t got anything planned. You’re going to be guitarist extraordinaire for Avenged Sevenfold. Your band is going to be big one day.” I said.
“Yes and you’re going to be right there, where my best friend should be. That is if she’s not too busy interviewing me.” I teased making Ellie laugh. She wanted to do study journalism and start out as a writer and maybe progress to a news presenter but she was happy being behind the camera writing the news.
“Well I hope that’s what happens. We both get what we want.” Ellie said as she fell quiet.
“Foods up.” Matt called out as we went inside. We loaded our plates with food and went back outside and sat down. We ate our food and then everyone but me kept drinking. After two hours everyone was pretty wasted. I was staring into the fire when Ellie tapped my shoulder.

“Bri.” Ellie said softly.
“Yes Elle?” I asked.
“Can you drive me home? I’m tired and I know you only had one drink.” Ellie said.
“Sure thing princess.” I said as we got up and Ellie nearly fell over but I quickly grabbed her. We started walking to the house when we ran into Val.
“And where are you two going?” Val asked.
“I’m taking Ellie home. We will see you later.” I said as Val gave us both a hug and we walked out to my car. I opened the door for Ellie and helped her in. I walked around and got in my seat when I saw Ellie having trouble with her belt.“Here, let me get it.” I said as I pulled the belt and locked it in. I drove to Ellie and Jimmy’s house and stopped the car.
“Thanks for bringing me home Brian.” Ellie said as I smiled.
“You’re welcome.” I said. I lent across and gave Ellie a hug. She stumbled up to the door and unlocked it. She turned to me and gave me a wave as she walked inside. I waved back and drove home. I had no idea what I was going to do but I was not going to let Ellie go.

Hey everyone! Sorry this update took so long. I came up with Brian and Jimmy's talk in five minutes but the rest took a while because i needed something to fill in the chapter and i was having the worst writers block. The next chapter will have a twist and i think you will all hate me for a while but you know what happens in the end already. :) Suggestions and feedback are always great to hear.
