When the family and Maiken got her baggage in the car, the drove to their house so that Maiken could get settled in her new room, and they could sit down and talk to learn more about each other. The family was beyond excited to an exchange student in their home, to learn about another culture, and to lecture a stranger about their own culture and how it is to live in the United States of America.

Soon they arrived to, what Maiken thought was, a big beautiful house with the typical ‘movie-look’. It was simply a two story house in Huntington Beach, California, with this light yellow color on the walls and a huge front door with quite big white windows.

“Welcome to you new home” Brian smiled at the girl who were sitting next to his smiling daughter, on the backseat of the quite expensive car, making his wife smile as well.

“It looks really beautiful Mr. Haner” Maiken said with a stunned look on her face and a small shy smile on her lips.

“Oh please my dear, call me Brian. I’ll get sick of this ‘Mr. Haner’ thing, it makes me feel so old” Brian said and let out a small laugh, making all the three girls giggle. “Now let’s get inside” he said, and everybody got out of the car and went to the front door of the house.

“Mom can I show Maiken her room, please?” McKenna asked her mom with a smile on her face.

Maiken guessed that McKenna were a girl on a age about, 14 years old or maybe 15 years old. She had short hair that was dyed in a bleach purple color. Normally Maiken hated people with purple hair, but she had to admit that this really fitted to McKenna.

“Yeah sure Hun go ahead. Oh and Maiken, if you want to take a shower before going downstairs to us again, just let McKenna show you where the stuff is, okay?” Suzy smiled, making both Maiken and McKenna nod.

The girls walked up the stairs; and to the second door on their right hand. “Okay, so this is your new room. We used to use this as a guest room but since you’d be living here we decided to use it as your room. But it’s okay though, because we have like two more guestrooms” McKenna smiled sweetly and opened the door to the room.

The room was colored in a light orange and red color and the panels were colored in white just like the ceiling, while the floor was a light brown colored carpet. There was a big window, which held light orange colored curtains by each of its sites. The room also had a light colored closet, and a quite tall white colored dresser next to the closet. On the top of everything, the room also held a big double sized bed.

Maiken muttered a small ‘wow’, making McKenna giggle and showed her a big smile. “It’s cool, huh?” said McKenna and grinned. Maiken couldn’t answer because she was so stunned so she just nodded and smiled at the other girl.

“I’ll let you take a shower… The bathroom is just across the room, there are towels in there and all the stuff you need in the shower is in there as well. And when you’re done we’ll be in the living room, which is just next to the end of the stairs” McKenna said and smile.

“Thank you so much, I’ll be down in about fifteen minutes” Maiken said and smiled, before she went to her suitcase and pulled out a outfit, and went to the bathroom to take a quick shower.

She stripped down her clothes, took off her glasses and turned on the hot water, before slowly stepping into the shower letting the water run down her curvy body. Truth is, Maiken have always been unsure of herself and her body, she never felt that she was good enough for anybody, and during the fact that she wore glasses didn’t make it any better or any easier for her in school, when she was younger.

Maiken let out a painful yet happy sigh. Painful because of the thoughts of her childhood, but happy because she now could start a new life where absolutely nobody knew her or about her, other than she was the new kid from another country, who were going to be there for ten months.

When Maiken had showered, she stepped out of the shower and grabbed a towel, and began drying off her body so that she could get her clothes on, and get down to the other members of the family.
She put on her underwear and her bra, before she put on her leather looking leggings and her high waisted short over them. She then put on her tank top and her cream colored cardigan on the top of it.

She hang the towel over the edge of the bathtub so it could dry off, before she added a small hint of mascara to her eyes, and went back to her room with the clothe she wore before. She laid the clothe on the bed, and she then went out of the room closing the door behind her, before she followed the way McKenna told her. She couldn’t help but notice all the pictures that hang on the wall, down the stairs. It was pictures of the three family members she had met along with two other boys/men, which made her wonder about who they were. By the voices she soon found the living room, rather quickly.

“Oh there you are my dear, come and sit down” Suzy said from the couch she sat on, which made McKenna pat on the empty spot next to her on the other couch.

“So how was the trip here?” Brian asked with a smile on his face.

“It’s was okay, really, it was my first time ever on a plane, so I won’t say that I wasn’t nervous, but yeah… It went okay” Maiken said followed by a smile on her face.

“It is, wow, well that’s good anyway, I now from both Brian and his son that it’s a long trip” Suzy said with a smile on her lips.

“You guys travel much?” Maiken asked curiously.

“Well yeah, I’m a rather famous comedian and my son is in a famous rock band” Brian said with a proud smile on his face, “but you’ll meet my son soon. They’re coming home from tour tomorrow” he continued saying.

“I don’t really do much in comedy, sorry” Maiken said with a rather sorry look on her face, but continued anyway, “what is the name of your son’s band?”

“It’s okay dear… The name of his band is Avenged Sevenfold” Brian said again.

“I’ve heard of them before, but that’s about it, I’ve never really listened to them before” Maiken said with a smile on her face, “I’ll admit that I’m more likely to music like, Ed Sheeran, Skrillex, Adele and so on, you name it” she continued with a smile on her face, making all three members of the family smile and nod.

They group of four continued talking for some more, before Suzy gave Maiken a tour of the house so she could at least try to remember where everything was at. When they were done, it was about time to eat dinner and just enjoy each other and talk some more.

Maiken was honest when she said, that she couldn’t wait for this year to begin.
