Chasing A Dream
Prologue
Maiken were sitting in the airport with her mother, father, her beloved thirty-five year old cousin Oliver and her two siblings, the six years old little sister Emma and the twenty-five year old brother Sonny, waiting for Maiken to board her flight from Copenhagen in Denmark to Los Angeles, over there and check in your baggage, and then you’ll be divided in groups, depending on wherever you are going in the United States of America, and there will of course be a leader, and a guide with you all the time until you are with you families, does that sound okay to you guys?” a middle-aged leader said to all the young people, making them nod.
Maiken turned around and faced her family and suddenly felt the tears came to her eyes, and within a second they were rolling down her cheeks and unto her lips, making her taste the salty liquor.
She went to my mom who hugged her daughter tight into her body “I’m going to miss you, but behave and let me know how you are sometimes, okay?” she whispered softly in her daughters ear, making the daughter nod her head and tell her that she would let her know every once in a while.
Maiken went to give her dad a hug, and he also told her to let him and her mom know, how everything were going in the United States of America, and she promised him as well, that she would let them know for sure.
Maiken quickly hugged her one more time, before she went on to her little sister who immediately hugged her big sisters legs, just at her tights. Maiken bent down on her knees in front of her little sister , and placed kisses all over the little girls face, making her laugh which gave Maiken a satisfied smile on her face.
She got up on her feet again, before she bounced over to where her older brother were standing, and more or less ran into his arms and as soon as their bodies collided, the tears flew out of her eyes, letting her practically cry a river in front of her family, and all of her, hopefully, new friends.
But she didn’t care, because all she wanted was to bring her brother with her to the United States of America, but she knew for sure that she couldn’t do that.
“I’m going to miss you so much Sonny” Maiken cried on her brother’s shoulder.
“Shh sweetheart, it’s going to be just fine, we’ll keep in touch, I promise” Sonny whispered softly into his little sisters ear. Maiken nodded and sniffed a last time before she went on to her cousin.
“Bye honey, now behave okay? I don’t want them to call me and tell me you’re in prison or something, okay?” Oliver smirked softly, and winked at his cousin who let out a small giggle, before hugging herself tight into his toned body.
Maiken bit the last goodbye to her very beloved family, before she went on to the group who slowly got bigger, by other young people who had said goodbye to their families.
“Okay, now everybody is here, we will now check in our baggage, and wait for permission to board the plane” the middle-aged woman said again, with a soft smile on her lips.
They went to check in their baggage before they went to the waiting area, getting ready to get parted in groups by wherever they were going to, in the United States.
Maiken sat on a seat waiting patiently on everybody getting ready, when someone sat down next to her.
“Is it okay that I sit here?” a blonde haired girl said softly, making Maiken nod her head slowly.
“Yeah of course” she smiled softly at the girl.
“I’m Marie by the way” the girl smiled softly.
“Maiken”
“Where are you going?” Marie asked softly with a small smile on her face.
“Huntington Beach. What about you?” Maiken answered with a smile on her face.
“Really? I’m going there too” Marie said with a smile on her face, somewhat excited.
Maiken couldn’t help but get excited, it was nice for her to know someone in advance, “that’s awesome” she answered with a wide smile on her face.
“Should we sit together in the plane?” Marie asked with a huge smile on her face, which made Maiken node as answer, liking the idea of knowing the person she will be sitting with the next twelve hours.
Just as Maiken was about to answer Marie, the middle-aged woman began to speak, “listen up guys! First off, my name is Catja and I will be the lead-head over the leaders here. So now I’m going to part you guys into groups, to wherever you’re going, as I’ve told you so many times so far” Catja said with a smile on her face.
“I want the people who are going to San Diego, over there, to your leader who is called Anne… Then I want you who are going to San Francisco to go over there, to your leader who is called Peter… Then you guys who are going to Los Angeles, go over there to your leader who is called Emilie… And the rest of you who are going to Huntington Beach and Long Beach, please go over there to your leader who is called Peter” Catja finished, and everybody where now in their groups with their leaders.
“So guys I want you to introduce yourself to each other, because some of you will be attending to the same school the next year” Peter said with a smile on his face.
Maiken zoned out softly, until she recognized that it was her turn, “well my name is Maiken Salt and I’m seventeen years old. I was born at December 11th 1994, and I love music, photography, my friends and my family. I’m going to stay at a family called Haner” she said with a small smile on her face, and looked to her side where it was now Marie’s turn.
“My name is Marie Warming and I’m sixteen years old. I was born at January 6th 1995, and I love photography, my friends and family and sociality. I’m staying at a family called Mashall” she smiled and looked down in her hands.
Maiken spaced out once again, starting to think how everything would turn out when she arrive to the United States, if everything would turn out good or bad. Soon, everybody was done talking and the time was out, so they had to board the flight.
Maiken and Marie chose each other as buddies, and soon they were up in the skies, on their wait to the United States of America, to a year in a foreign country, with a “new” family and new friends.
