So Far Away.

Chapter 9

I'd spent all night decorating the house for Jimmy's birthday, his present pile was taller than him. It was around 3am when I finally snuck into bed. Jimmy was mumbling softly in his sleep, his arms naturally snaking around me as we snuggled together.

The morning rose and sure enough so did Jimmy at 10am, bounding around the upstairs like a 4 year old child.

'HAS THE PRESENT FAIRY BEEN?!' He shouted, picking me up and twirling me around before smothering me with kisses.

'She's been, babe. Come on let's go see what she got you.' I smiled, grabbing his hand and leading him downstairs.

After all of Jimmy's presents were opened I started clearing up and making him some breakfast. He came in singing my favourite Elvis song 'Jailhouse Rock' taking my hand and swirling me around, dancing around the kitchen.

'Jimmy, your pancakes!' I giggled as he swirled me once more and brought my body back into his.

'I want you for breakfast!' He growled.

3 hours later we heard the doorbell.

'Shit Jimmy, I was supposed to start dinner!' I giggled as we scurried out of bed. 'I'm gonna take a quick shower can you get that please?'

'Of course babe.' He embraced me and kissed my head before answering the rapid thunders on the door. I managed to sneak downstairs and make it look like I'd been preparing dinner for hours besides the damp hair. I went into the living room to greet everybody. Jimmy was again, surrounded by presents.

'Dinner smells so good.' He said, pulling my body to his and softly kissing my lips.

'Thanks, Jimbo, now open your presents!' I smiled as he ran over to his pile of presents and began tearing the paper apart.

Once presents were opened, dinner was cooked and drinks had proceeded to flow before we even got to the bar.

Jimmy had always said that was the best birthday he'd ever had, with his family and friends. He had everyone he needed in one room.

I woke, 10am. Cold, alone... Sober. The flowers I ordered for Jimmy's grave had arrived black and red roses tied with ribbon, there were thousands of them. I went back upstairs and got myself ready before hearing a light knock on the door, behind it stood Brian, Matt, Zacky and Johnny, suited up with their sunglasses on.

'Ready to go?' Johnny asked.

'Sure.' I whispered, almost crawling to the car. The journey was horrible, I love going to see Jimmy but the build up make me feel sick, the nerves, sweats, the trouble breathing, the...

'Stop the car.'

'What?' Johnny asked, looking into the rear view mirror.

'Stop the car!' I shouted, it came to an abrupt stop and I jumped out, falling to my hands and knees before throwing up, I got back into the car and apologised, not speaking for the rest of the journey.

As soon as we got to the grave we all stood in silence, placing our gifts around it.

'We'll leave you two in peace.' Zacky whispered, before rubbing my back and leaving with the guys for a while.

'Hey Jimmy,' I smiled although I was crying. 'I miss you, I just miss you so fucking much. You should be here, with me. Distracting me from cooking dinner, drinking a beer, eating your cake.'

'I am here, Rory, I'm always here. Things are just slightly different.' He said, wrapping his arms around me and placing a sweet kiss on m lips as I turned to face him and cry into his chest.

'I want you here properly, I don't know If I can take this anymore.'

'But there's so many surprises coming your way, Rory, just because I'm not here fully doesn't mean you're ready to go. Believe me you're not, I love and care for you too much for you to make silly mistakes.' He said, wiping my tears with his thumbs.

'I love you, Jimmy. I'm just being selfish, it's not fair you were taken so soon. We should of gone together, in our old age.' I had broken down at this point, the guys came rushing over to stop in complete amazement.

'J-J.... Jimmy?!' Matt stuttered.

'Hey guys.' He greeted. 'I need to look after my girl and guys, right?'

They all rushed around to group hug.

'We miss you so much, man.' Brian cried, I heard the other guys sniffle and saw the odd tear escape their sunglasses.

'I can't stay, but I love you all, so much.' Jimmy announced before kissing me and disappearing.

'Fuck!' I shouted. 'I hate when he does that.'

'He normally does it?' Matt asked.

'He has a few times but always leaves when you finally get comfortable with him being there.' I rested my head on his grave as a few tears slipped from my eyes.

'Happy birthday, Jimmy. I love you.' I whispered.
