Jimmy’s P.O.V.
“What in the heck are you doing in my house?!” I exclaimed at the person who jumped up to her feet and turned around to me, Abby holding onto me for dear life. That person though turned around and the anger left me. I wasn’t sure why but it did. It was Ruby. She stood there as if she was going to say something but couldn’t get it out of her mouth.
“What are you doing here?” I questioned holding Abby close as she whimpered. Ruby rubbed the back of her neck and looked down to her feet. She looked so innocent looking at me and it made me smile a bit.
“Um…Elly gave me her key…I was…I was just…” Her voice trailed off. I chuckled and set Abby down on the floor and she grabbed my hand looking at Ruby.
“Alright,” I said calmly, letting her know I wasn’t going to kill her over it but it still stricken me wrong that she was at my sister and brother-in-law’s house. How did she know my sister anyways? My dad didn’t even know who she was and he knew nearly everyone of my sister’s friends.
“Is this your little girl?” Ruby asked breaking me from my thoughts. She looked down to Abby and smiled at her, coming and kneeling down to touch her but Abby quickly went behind my leg causing me to chuckle.
“No this is my niece, Katie’s little girl,” I said lightly and ran my fingers through Abby’s hair. Ruby looked down to her and smiled, coming and kneeling down to Abby’s level and gave a small wave. Abby peeked around my leg and looked at Ruby and tilted her head to the side a little.
“Hi Abby,” She said gently.
“You….” Abby looked at her and came closer to her, “Familiar,” She said which caused me to look at the both of them. Abby moved from my leg and came closet to Ruby and then I saw brightness on the little girls face and she ran over to Ruby and hugged her tightly.
“Aunt Ruby!” She exclaimed. I stood there in bewilderment. Aunt? Since when was this stranger an aunt?! I hurried and grabbed Abby and jerked her away from Ruby causing her to cry. I held her as she cried telling her I was sorry and Ruby looked at me innocently slowly standing.
“Who in the world are you?” I asked her. I narrowed my eyes at her and she sighed, running her fingers through her long bangs and looked to Abby.
“Go put her in her room and we can talk,” she said. I nodded really eager on what she wanted to tell me. I would be glade to know what kind of person that my sister was hanging out with and why she was here in Brian and Katie’s house. I just hoped to God that she didn’t steal anything.
“Uncle Shimmy, can I play?” She asked me as I put her down on the floor. I nodded and told her to have fun. She squealed and went and found a stuffed peanut that she held close to her, plopping down on her butt and held it close to her. I smiled and lightly closed the door and went back downstairs to see Ruby on the couch. I was scared to talked to her, I was afraid that something was going to happened but I wasn’t sure what that something was.
“You have ten minuets to explain or I am going to call the cops and have them arrest you for burglary,” I warned her. She looked at me in shock.
“I didn’t steal anything!”
“I can easily report it, now spill,” I sat down on the coffee table in front of her and she sat back and took a deep breath, blew her bangs out of her face and looked at me with her big beautiful brown eyes.
“I met your sister on a website called Wattpad,” She started.
“Wattpad? Isn’t-”
“Yes now shush,” She said, she leaned forward and put her elbows on her knees and took a deep breath, “Well we got to being friends and stuff. She told me that she had a brother but never told me it was … you,” She said. When she said ‘you’, she looked up at me like she was expecting me to say something. Then she looked down nervous or worried and took a deep breath and continued. Saying how her and Katie were best friends and some things happened at home and she moved here and heard about her death and how she lied to her about us and her being married.
“She even told me Abby was your kid,” She said sadly.
“I….wow…Ruby…”
“It’s fine. I … I guess she wasn’t a good friend to begin with.” She said lightly, sitting back on the couch and hugged her self making me frown. I was upset that my sister would do something like this to her best friend.
“Hey don’t say that honey,” I said gently and put my hand on her knee, “She probably did it for a reason,” I said lightly.
“Like what”? She asked coldly.
“Like me and Brian. Were rockstars, I know it sounds stupid but-”
“What? I wouldn’t of done anything! Maybe just ask for an autograph from me dang hero!” She freaked, “I hate her for what she’s done!” She yelled at me. I quickly stood.
“Hey! Calm your butt down, there is a little girl upstairs thank you!” I growled back. Ruby looked at me with anger and stood and shoved me causing me to trip on the coffee table and fall onto the floor.
“Uncle Shimmy!” I heard Abby cry. I looked over to the stairs to see Abby wanting to go down the stairs. She grabbed onto the hand rail and I got up and screamed for her but she was startled and came tumbling down the stairs and I stood there hearing nothing come out of her.
