As I opened the door to the restaurant, I breathed deeply looking around for Alec.
“Hey girl! Where have you been?” Becky, another waitress who worked there asked,
I smiled and walked over to the counter and sat down on the stool.
“Hey Beck. I just went to back home to see my family.”
She looked up at my through her thick black lashes as she was rolling utensils into napkins.
“You know Alec’s so pissed at you, right?” she whispered, leaning in.
“Yeah, I know.” I sighed.
“Well, he’s out back on a smoke break.” She nodded to the back door.
“Thanks.” I said, hopping down from the stool.
I opened the back door and there was Alec sitting on a milk crate.
“Hey Alec.” I smiled gently.
He nodded.
“Where the hell you been kid?”
“I’m worry Alec. I just needed a break.”
I stood in front of him waiting on his reply.
“Well, you could of asked for a few days off but no, you don’t show or call or answer me when I called!”
I cringed.
“I know and I’m SO sorry. Please, give me another chance.”
He sighed and flicked his cigarette off to the side, standing up. He crossed his arms, giving me the death glare.
“Fine, but do it again and you’re done. Got it?”
I grinned. “ Thank you so much!”
His face finally softened and he mumbled, “Yeah, yeah. Get your butt back in there and get to work. You’re here till closing tonight.”
I smiled, thanking the heaven’s I got to keep my job. It didn’t hurt that Alec’s got a thing for me so I knew deep down he’d let me continue working. I followed him back inside and threw my purse in my locker and tied my apron behind my back.
The rest of the day went pretty good. We weren’t too busy so I got a chance to catch up with Sam when she came in for her shift around 3.
“So what made you want to leave?” she asked, curiously, sweeping up behind the counter.
I sat at the counter filling the sugar bowls with sugar packets.
“Well, I was just really worn out.” I lied.
“I wish I could just leave whenever I want and keep my job because my boss has got the hots for me.” She whispered, nodding her head back to the kitchen where Alec stood over the stove.
I rolled my eyes and giggled.
“It’s true ya know.”
“I know.”
“He wants your body girl!”
“Oh, shut up!” I laughed, loudly.
I heard the bell above the door ding and two customers walked in. I made my way over to the table and took there orders.

It had become dark outside. It was around 8:30 or so and there were only a few customers so the night was pretty easy.
The whole night my mind went back to him. Brian. His smile, his eyes, everything about him. The way he carried himself and the way he made me so nervous by just looking at me. I blushed at the thought and smiled slightly to myself as I brought dirty dishes to the sink in the back. And I had made it a bad habit of looking up at the door when someone came in, hoping I could just see his face again.

“Cat, you can go!” Alec said through the window of the kitchen, breaking me from my thoughts.
I smiled, “K.”
I took off my apron, hollered bye to the girls and made my way outside.
You sound like a love sick teenager. Just give it up.
The whole way home I looked around me, just hoping to maybe see him if he was around but nothing.
I unlocked my door and turned on the light. I plopped down on my couch with a heavy sigh and sat there for a few minutes. I finally decided to go to bed .
I switched off the lamp beside me and curled up over the covers, falling asleep to the image of his face burning in mind.
