I struggled against my attacker but it was no use. They were too strong. I could see their bright white teeth shining through the darkness. A bright beam of light blinded me as my attacker began to show their face…


Gasping for breath I sat straight up in the bed. The bright morning sun shined through my curtains.
“What’s the matter?” Brain asked groggily.
I almost jumped out of my skin because I forgot he was there.
“I had a nightmare.”
“What was it about?”
I laid back on the bed and sighed.
“I don’t know. Someone was after me. They had me pinned down, but it was dark and I couldn’t see anything.”
“It was just a dream. Go back to sleep. It’s only 6.”
“I think I’m gonna take a shower.”
I got up and went to the bathroom, turning on the shower. I rarely had nightmares. It felt so real. I didn’t know what to make of it.
I got out and dressed and went to make some coffee. I poured myself a cup and sat at the table.
“Come back in here.” Brian said.
“I’m too awake now.”
He sighed and sat beside me.
“That stuff isn’t good for you.”
I looked at him and smiled. I’m sure getting my blood sucked out of me on a regular basis probably wasn’t very good for you either but I’d take my chances.
“You work today?”
I shook my head, setting down my cup.
“Then you can come back to bed.” He smiled, picking me up.
“Hey!”
He placed me on the bed and crawled up beside me.
“I need to get up. I can’t stay in my bed all day.”
“You can.”
“No, I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because I sleep at night. We’re on different sleep schedules.” I laughed.
“You should get on mine.”
“I liked the sun. I like getting a tan so I don’t look dea…”
He raised an eyebrow and starred at me before he snorted. I blushed madly. I always seemed to put my foot in my mouth.
“Does it really bother you to go in the sun?”
“Yes.”
“Do you miss it?”
“Sometimes, but I’ve always been a night owl.”
“Well, that’s convenient.”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
His eyes were closed and I lay there looking at me.
“I can’t sleep when someone’s starring at me.” He mocked.
“Yeah, yeah.” I giggled.
I sat up but an arm pulled me down.
“Where are you going?”
“I was going to watch TV. I thought you were sleeping.”
“Did I say you could?”
“I didn’t know I had to ask your permission.” I smiled.
He crawled on top of me.
“Well, you do.” He explained, coldly as he bit my neck.
