I woke up without really knowing that we had fallen asleep on the couch all’s I knew if that I had to piss. “Brayden baby let me up.” I said
She groaned and woke up a bit.
“I have to pee babe.” I said
She nodded and shifted and used the other armrest on the other side of the couch as a pillow. I got up and raced towards the downstairs bathroom and peed. When I walked back out into the living room she was curled up into a ball on the armrest of the couch. I walked over and picked her up and carried her to our bedroom. I closed the door quietly and walked into the guest room and decided to take a shower. My shower was fairly long and when I got out I wrapped my towel around my waist and walked back to our room and quietly put a pair of boxers on. I walked down to the living room and Brian and Madison was sitting there on out couch.
“Uh? Hey guys.” I said
“Hey.” Brian said
“You two okay?” I asked
“Yeah.” Brian said
“Any particular reason you’re sitting on my couch?” I asked
“Meh.” He said
“Madison you look tired why don’t you go upstairs and sleep in the guest room.” I said
She nodded and trudged upstairs.
“What’s going on Brian?” I asked
“I’m worried.” He said
“About what?” I asked sitting down next to him.
“This pregnancy Jim.” He said
“What about it are you not happy for us?” I asked
“I’m happy Jim it just worries me. Like what are you going to do when we’re out on tour? You love to drink Jim no kid need a drunk for a father.” He said
“Brian we’ve been told we’re not going on tour for like another year or so, so I’ll be here for her and she can always come you know that Larry would not mind. And I can stop drinking, yes I love it but I’m not addicted Bri. We’re going to be okay.” I said
“Okay.” He said
“Now to change the subject....... What are you doing on New Year’s Eve?” I asked
“I don’t think we have plans.” He said
“Want to go to Ohio to go to one of Madison and Brayden’s friends parties?” I asked
“I could dig it.” He said
“Snow.” I said
“Snow?” He asked
“Yes there’s snow there.” I said wide-eyed
“I’ll hate it.” He said
“No you won’t because Madison and Brayden will be there and they make everything fun.” I said
“True.” He said
My stomach growled and Brian laughed.
“What time is it?” I asked
“About nine.” He said
“Want to help with breakfast?” I asked
“Sure.” He said
I smiled and we walked into the kitchen and started getting the supplies out. Brian was on eggs and bacon duty and I was on pancake duty. I only had pancakes because Brain likes my pancakes and I can make then well. I decided on the Apple Cinnamon Pancakes I made Brayden the first night she was on the bus. “What type of pancakes?” He asked
“They’re going to be Apple Cinnamon.” I said
“Yum.” He said I flipped the pancakes into the air and they landed perfectly back into the pan.
“How did you get so good at that?” He asked
“Lots of practice. I had to do something to shut my sisters up and it pretty much impressed them.” I said “Speaking of your sisters and well family. When are you going to tell them that you are getting married? I know they’ve met her but they didn’t know you two were together.” He said
“I guess I could tell them while we’re in Ohio.” I said
“Okay. Well breakfast is done.” He said
“I’ll go wake the girls.” I said
“I’ll plate everything.” He said I went to walk upstairs but Brayden was sitting on the couch in the living room watching the news. Her hair was wet which meant she just got out of the shower and she was in her underwear and one of my t-shirts..... well it was more of a jersey type t-shirt, it said ‘SULLIVAN’ across the top of the back and the number zero on it. It matched my back tattoo.
“Morning.” I said She looked at me and smiled.
“Morning.” She said
“Breakfast?” I asked
“I’m starved. What’s for breakfast?” She asked
“I made those Apple Cinnamon Pancakes and Brian made bacon and scrambled eggs.” I said
“Sounds fantastic and its been forever since we’ve had those pancakes.” She smiled wrapping her arms around my waist.
“I know. I talked to Brian and he’s okay with going to Ohio.” I said
She looked up at me and smiled.
“Is Maddie here too?” She asked
“Yeah I was just about to go wake her up. She’s in the guest room.” I said
“I’ll go wake her.” She said
I nodded and kissed her and she skipped up the stairs. I walked back into the kitchen and Brian had the plates already made and on the table.
“The girls?” He asked
“It’s just you and me Brian my baby.” I joked
“It’s about time.” He smiled
“Bray went to wake up Madison.” I said
He nodded and we sat down across from each other. The girls came down and we all ate breakfast. Brayden and I were washing the dishes when the door-bell went off.
“I’ll get it.” Brian said
“I knew you’d be here I brought Jenifer. Are you and Madison still coming to dinner tonight? I know Madison hasn't met her.” Whomever was at the door said
“Yeah.” Brian said
The shower kicked on upstairs and I knew that’s where Madison was.
“Where’s my other kid?” The guy at the door said
It was Papa Gates and he called Brayden his other kid.
“PAPA GATES!” Brayden said taking off towards the living room
Thank god she put pants on and so did I. I walked into the living room and Brayden was hugging Papa Gates.
“I’d like you to meet my girlfriend, Bray this is Jenifer.” Papa Gates said
Madison came down and stood next to me.
“Who’s that?” She whispered
“Papa’s new girl.” I whispered
“Do you know who that is?” She asked
I shook my head.
“Mom?” Brayden said after she looked at the woman
Brian looked at me and Madison and his mouth hit the floor.
