Promises Broken and Words Left Unspoken

Madi’s P.O.V
I had been working on the song with Matt. I should have realized sooner that Matt would have some great ideas. I yawned and looked up as McKenna walked in with a huge smile on her face. “Come on Madi. It’s Christmas,” She told me with a giggle. I yawned and checked the clock on my phone.
“Kenna, it’s only six thirty,” I told her as I wiped at my eyes. It probably didn’t help that I was up until midnight talking with Tyler on the phone quietly… Or that Brian came in after that and we spent an hour talking. I sighed as McKenna gave me a look I couldn’t say no to. “Alright, give me a minute, and I’ll be down in a few,” She nodded excitedly before jumping out of the guest room excitedly. I laughed as I brushed my hair really quick and put it into a loose ponytail. I walked down the stairs and sat down on the floor in the living room, feeling kind of awkward as all the Haner family sat on two couches.
“Who goes first?!” McKenna asked excitedly. I smiled at her enthusiasm. She smiled and let out a squeal as she was told she could open one of her presents first. For the next couple of hours, I watched as the Haners opened their presents. I guess I went off into my own world because before I knew it, Brian was pulling me to my feet.
I snapped out of my trance and looked up at him. “I got you something,” He told me quietly as Suzy asked if the two of us wanted to go out for Christmas breakfast with the rest of the family. “No thanks mom. I think I’m gonna go back to sleep,” Brian told her as I nodded in agreement. She told us that she’d see us later and walked out with the rest of Brian’s family. Brian kissed my neck the moment his family was out the door. I let him lead me up to his room.
“Bri,” I tried to go on, but I was so tired… I couldn’t form the sentence. He chuckled at me before digging into his nightstand drawer. He handed me two small boxes and after I unwrapped them, I let out a small gasp. They were both jewelry boxes. I went to hand them back to him. “Brian… You don’t have to,” I tried to say but was cut off.
“I want to,” He said as he pushed them back into my hands. I bite my lip before opening both of the boxes. My eyes widened as I let out a small gasp.
“They must have been so expensive,” I mumbled. Brian smiled at me softly before speaking up.
“You’re worth it. With this ring,” He said taking the box from me lightly, “I promise to be faithful to you… And that this will work. I promise a good relationship,” He told me. I smiled at him before throwing my arms around his neck and hugging him tight. “And the necklace was just because I wanted to give you something nice,” He whispered into my ear. I pulled back and pressed my lips to his. When he pulled back he had a huge smile on his face.
“Help me put it on?” I asked handing him the box with the necklace in it. He smiled and agreed. I turned around and moved my hair away from my back. I smiled as the heart landed just above my chest. “I love it,” I told him honestly when I turned around. He smiled before leaning down and kissing me again. “Now… I’m gonna go back to sleep,” I told him as I slid the ring on the middle finger of my right hand. He smiled and grabbed my wrist right before pulling me to him.
“Wanna sleep on my bed… With me?” He added the last part slyly. I blushed before nodding and smiled as he picked me up. I wrapped my arms around his neck and laid my head on his shoulder. He placed me on his bed gently and sat next to me with a grin on his face. I smiled as we laid down, and yawned. I rested my head on his chest and felt him pull out my hair tie. He ran his fingers through my hair, and I dosed off.
When I woke up I heard Brian’s mom and dad talking, so I kept my eyes shut. “Aw, isn’t that the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?” Suzy cooed. Brian’s dad just laughed and told her that they should leave the room. I heard Brian groan as his parents left the room.
“Ugh, they always have to ruin a good moment,” He said with a sigh as I opened my eyes.
“Your parents are cute,” I told him with a giggle as he tightened his hold around my body. “And I promise, I won’t disappear,” I explained which got him to release his hold a little bit. “Wanna go get breakfast? We could go to my house for a little while,” He looked me in the eyes and smiled.
“Sure. Let’s go,” He told me. I smiled before heading towards the guest room to change. It would be nice to shower in my bathroom again. We met back up at his front door and he was texting the guys to let them know where we were headed. I think everyone was going to come over and exchange gifts. Sure enough, once we got to my house, the guys were there.
I walked up and let them in my house and dropped my bag inside the door. With that out of the way: Zacky, Matt, Val, Jimmy, Johnny and Brian walked into my living room. We spent the rest of the day exchanging gifts and stories. Along with watching movies and eating junk food. At the end of the day, everyone but Brian had gone home for Christmas dinner. Brian had explained that his mom wanted him to stay with her, so she wasn’t alone on Christmas. “That’s really sweet of you Brian,” I told him as he shrugged.
“What can I say, I’m a sweet guy,” He told me with a laid back tone. I just giggled before sitting on his lap.
