Matt’s P.O.V
I heard a scream and realized that Riley wasn’t beside me anymore, how had I not noticed her leaving me?
The scream continued after the music cut out and everyone stopped dancing, Brian, Jimmy and Zacky all looked over at me thinking the same thing, Riley. We all ran for the door at the same time, not bothering to look for Johnny before following the sounds of the screaming. Around the building there was an alleyway where a few people were standing, a couple were of guys were on their phones. The three of us pushed through the people and got to the front where I saw a girl laying on the ground in a puddle of her own blood, I looked around and saw Riley, she was being held tightly to Sally as she sobbed and screamed into Sally’s chest, Sally cried silently while Johnny held the two girls. I walked over to them slowly and Johnny smiled weakly at me and let me gently take Riley from him, when she buried her face into my chest she cried even harder.
“It was so horrible Matt, she was just lying there!” She sobbed.
“I know baby, it’s okay, the police are on their way,” I rocked from side to side, smoothing her hair down and whispering calming things in her ear as I heard sirens off in the distance.
Charles’ P.O.V
“Sir, we got a girl murdered at the abandoned warehouse nearby,” Officer Lloyd said and I froze, Riley was at that party “You might want to come and question the girl who found her, she won’t speak to anyone,” He smiled weakly at me and I followed him out of the room and into one of the questioning rooms.
“Riley,” I breathed when I saw my daughter sitting at the table, glass of water in between her hands, her mascara was down her face and she was shaking “Baby?” I asked when she didn’t respond.
“It was so horrible dad, sh-she was just lying there, looking right at me, I can’t get the look on her face out of my head,” She said in a monotone voice.
“Baby, you know I have to ask you questions now, can you answer anything just now?” I asked, sitting across from her, placing my hand on hers.
“What is there to say about it?” She sighed heavily “I needed to get some air, and there were people all around the building so I went a little further away and stood in the alley, I thought I was standing in a puddle but I realized that it was blood, found the body, screamed and everyone came running,” She shrugged and took a drink of her water.
I asked her all the questions I needed to before I let her go, Matt was waiting outside of the room for her and instantly pulled her to him and soothed her quietly, the two were perfect for each other, almost two perfect.
“Sir, you need to come and see this,” Officer Lloyd said from the other side of the room waving me over, I said my goodbyes to Riley and Matt, who promised to make sure she got home okay, I even asked him to stay with her.
Riley’s P.O.V
Matt took me home in his car, Johnny and Sally had fallen asleep in the back seats waiting for us to be finished in the station, I told Matt just to bring them to my place, I didn’t want to be alone and I didn’t want Sal to be either, dad asked Matt to stay with me anyway so Johnny could stay too, Sal probably wanted him around anyway.
“Are you alright baby?” Matt asked me as I changed into my PJ’s and he stripped to his boxers.
“As okay as I can be after a night like tonight, I’ll be alright in the morning, I just can’t stop thinking about her, how someone could do that to a person and leave them there, I need closure on this Matt, I need to know who did that, who’s out there,” I wiped a tear that was rolling down my face and smiled weakly, Matt smiled and lifted me up bridal style and carried me downstairs to the living room where Johnny and Sally were cuddled under the blankets we had gotten on the floor with Juno playing in the background, I smiled at the fact it was still Sally’s favourite movie after all these years. I pulled out my phone and unlocked it, opening up a blank message so I could text Jay while Matt texted the rest of the guys telling them they should come over, that everyone was okay.
Me: Hey JayJay, you alright? I didn’t see you much tonight and wanted to check you were alright after everything that went down. You’re welcome to stay the night at my place with everyone tonight if you wanna J
Ten minutes later, Brian, Zacky and Jimmy arrived and had obviously been home to change out of their costumes and my phone buzzed beside me as they settled under the mass of blankets.
JayJay: Hey Riles, yeah I’m alright, I left before that all happened but I was told and it’s already all over the news… Sorry hun, I’ll give it a miss tonight, I have some… cleaning to do, see you tomorrow if you’re at work ;)
I texted him saying goodnight and locked my phone again, snuggling into Matt’s chest and drifted off to sleep just as Juno told her folks she was pregnant, a slight smile spread across my face.
