Rebecca's texts in purple. Sarah's texts in green. Matt's texts in red.
The next morning I woke up extremely exhausted. I didn’t know why. I got plenty of sleep last night. Except for when I woke up after having the strange dream. I mean it was really weird. I got out of bed and walked downstairs. Jess was sitting in the kitchen at the Island, drinking some coffee. I walked right past him. I opened up the fridge and took out some of the Chinese food that Jess bought me. I went to the microwave and put the container in there.
"The container can explode if you do that." Jess said. I just ignored him. I was still majorly pissed at him for telling Matt about the baby. I grabbed a fork and waited for my food to be done. When the microwave beeped, I pulled out the container and walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. Jess followed. "How long are you going to ignore me?" I turned on the TV and watched Gene Simmons: Family Jewels. I loved this show. It was the episode when it was Sophie's Sweet 16 Party.
"Rebecca, come on. Talk to me. I’m sorry, okay? I shouldn’t have told Matt unless you told me too. Please just talk to me? I’m dying not hearing you talk to me. I will die. I'll be nothing if you don’t forgive me. I only did it so that he would know what happened when he wasn’t careful. Please Becca?" I looked at him. I raised one eyebrow at him and then turned back to the TV. I pulled out my phone and texted him.
[color=purple]You should be sorry. I didn’t want him to know. It’s my life and my baby. Now stop fucking talking. I’m watching TV.[/color]
He pulled out his phone when it vibrated and looked at the text. He smiled a little and then he hugged me. I didn’t hug him back, but I patted his arm. "If you only talk to me through texts, then that’s okay with me." He kissed my cheek and then went upstairs. I still had my phone out, so I texted Sarah.
[color=purple]Sarah! HELP![/color]
[color=green]What’s the matter?[/color]
[color=purple]I’m having a baby. Jess is going to kill Matt.[/color] I sent the text and ten minutes later, Sarah busted through my front door.
"Start at the beginning. Now!" She sat down next to me. I explained to her everything. About how Matt wouldn’t talk to me for the past two weeks. About how I found out I was pregnant. About how Jess and my mom reacted. About how Matt called me after Jess told him and I didn’t talk to him. About how I’m not talking to Jess. When I was done explaining everything, she asked, "Wait! So your mom comforted you for once?"
"I was surprised too. But I took what she was offering and cried into her."
"Wow."
"Yep." Just then, my phone vibrated. I opened it up and saw that I had a text from Matt. "Hey. Matt just texted me."
"What'd he say?" I opened the text and we looked at it together. It said:
[color=red]Rebecca, please talk to me? I’m sorry for not talking to you for the past two weeks. I don’t know why I wasn’t. That was stupid. Why didn’t you want me to know about the baby? Please text back?[/color]
"Wow. He really wants to talk to you."
"Yeah. Should I reply?"
"I think you should."
"Okay. I will." I hit "Reply" and then started texting a response.
[color=purple]You were being stupid, that’s why you didn’t talk to me. I didn’t want you to know about the baby, because it’s my baby and I’m going to raise it to be good and not party all the time.[/color]
I hit "Send" and waited for him to reply. If he did. I watched TV and then my phone vibrated. I opened my phone and looked at Sarah. "He replied."
"Well open it." I opened it and read what it said.
[color=red]I was stupid. I would help you raise the baby to be good. I don’t party all the time. Just sometimes. I want to help with the baby. Please let me?[/color]
"What’s he want?"
"He wants to help raise the baby."
"What are you going to do?"
"I have no idea. Sarah, why don’t you go home? I think I need to be alone to think about this." I looked down at the text and kept re-reading it. I heard her get up. She gave me a hug and then walked over to the door and left. I sat there and I listened to what my head and my heart were telling me to do. Finally after all of the fighting, I did what my heart said.
[color=purple]Matt, come here. Please? Come to my house. I need you here.[/color]
I hit "Send" before I could stop myself and then stretched out on the couch. I set my Chinese food down on the coffee table and curled into a ball. I laid my head on a pillow. My phone vibrated and I opened up the new text I got.
[color=red]On my way.[/color] I closed my phone and smiled to myself. Just then my brother came down the stairs. "I’m headed off to work. I'll be back later. Call or text if you need anything." Then he left. I waited a little while and then the door bell rang. I got up from the couch and jogged to the door. I opened it and saw Matt standing there. I jumped on him and hugged him tightly. He hugged me back and walked into the house with me in his arms. He walked over to the couch and sat us down.
"Rebecca, talk to me." He said and rubbed my back. I sighed.
