Years Gone By Without You

Chapter 49

“Lex.” Brian’s voice rang in my ear.

“Brian leave me alone, please. I need to find Zack. Now.” I said through my teeth.

“You are not going to find him in Las Vegas, especially fucking walking the streets. All that is going to end in is you getting hurt. Now come back and we’ll drive home and see if he went home.”

“He wouldn’t have went home without me knowing. I need to know why he’s not answering his phone.” I cried.

“I don’t know what to tell you.” He snapped. “I’m not letting you walk these streets.”

I sighed. “Fine.” We started walking back to the hotel.

“Everything will be okay.” Brian told me putting his arm around me.

“No it’s not.” I cried. Brian just sighed as we went inside the hotel and back to the rooms.

“I’m going home.” I said walking into Matt’s room.

“What why?” Val asked.

“I think Zee’s there. I have to get home. At least then I could have my baby girl.” I said trying not to start crying again. The thought of Zack being gone killed me.

Val sighed. “Alright. I’ll get our limo to take me and you home.”

“You don’t have to come with me. I can take a cab home.”

“No you’re my best friend and you need me more than ever right now Lex. I know Matt will understand.” She said looking up at him.

“Yeah I’m down. I’ll stay with the guys and their girls for the remainder of the weekend and then we’ll head home on Monday like we planned.”

“Are you sure you guys?” They both nodded.

“Definitely.” Val said.

“Okay.” Val led me out of the room and we went and said bye to everyone and told them what was going on. Most of them disliked the idea and wanted to come along but Val just said that it would be better if just she and I went. They finally agreed and we left in the limo.

I ended up falling asleep on the way home with my phone held tightly in my hand. I woke up by Val shaking me saying we were at my house. I got out and took a deep breath hoping to god Zack was here. I hurried to the door and unlocked it and opened it. Everything looked the same. I made my way to the kitchen and nothing was touched. I slowly walked up the stairs and checked our room and nothing was touched. I sighed realizing this was hopeless. I sat down on the bed and tears poured out of my eyes. I was getting married Thursday and my fiancée was nowhere to be found. Val sat down next to me and rubbed my back.

“Everything will be okay. He’ll come around.”

“I don’t know what I did.” I cried.

“I’m sure you didn’t do anything Lex. He’s probably just overwhelmed.”

“He shouldn’t be overwhelmed. He loves me and we have a baby girl together. He should’ve seen this coming.” I looked at her.

“I know. Just don’t worry okay. I’ll stay with you tonight and then we’ll start a new search tomorrow.”

I nodded. “Okay.” She gave me a hug and I stood up. I walked out of the room and went to Avery’s nursery. Seeing her room and stuff would make me feel better. Maybe I should get my baby girl back tonight. I opened the door and saw shoes on the floor. I walked in more and Zack and Avery were asleep on the floor.

“Oh my god.” I sighed in relief as a tear rolled down my cheek. I slowly backed up and went back into the bedroom where Val was.

“He’s here.” I smiled.

“What do you mean?”

“Zack is here. Look come here.” I grabbed her arm and pulled her to Avery’s room. She awed at the sight she saw.

“See I told you everything was going to be okay.”

I nodded and went and sat down in the space behind Zack. I put my arm on his shoulder and he shuffled underneath my hand. I leaned down and kissed his forehead and his eyes snapped open.

“Lex?” He said tiredly.

“Hey.” I smiled.

“Have you been crying?” He asked.

I nodded. “Zack I’ve been worried sick about you. Why in the hell have you not been answering your phone and why in the hell did you leave?” He turned on his back.

“Hang on.”

“We need to talk like now. Get up put Avery in her crib and come in our room.” I said standing up and walking out.

“Do you want me to go?” Val asked.

“Nah you can stay tonight. I’m sure we’re going to break into a fight. I can feel it.”

“That’s not good Lex.”

“I know. I’m just a little pissed that he ignored me and didn’t let me know that he left or that he picked up our daughter.” I told her.

“I know. I understand. I’ll go down to the living room.”

“Yeah feel free to do whatever. If you want to leave go ahead.”

“Nah I know you’ll need me so I’ll just go watch TV and eat something.” I nodded.

“Okay.” I said walking into my bedroom and sitting down on the bed. Zack came in right after.

“Sit down.” I said sternly.

“What’s wrong?” He asked shutting the door and sitting down on the opposite side of the bed.

I looked at him. “Zack what in the fuck were you thinking?”

“What do you mean?” He asked.

“You just got up and left, ignored my calls, picked up our child and all this without even a simple clue.” I said frustrated.

“I didn’t ignore your calls.”

“Then why in the hell haven’t I or anyone else been able to get a hold of you.” I yelled.

“Because I left my damn phone in the hotel room!” He yelled. “I left because there was a chick going down on me and I was uncomfortable. I walked out of the fucking bar and got a cab and went straight to my mother’s house and picked up Avery and had my mom drive me home. I was drunk as fuck and didn’t think about calling you when I got home and I’ve been asleep since then except for a few times getting up to deal with Avery.”

“Oh.” I mumbled. “I didn’t know.”

“Well maybe you shouldn’t jump to conclusions.” He stood up and stormed out. I sighed and got up and walked out after him. I walked down to Avery’s nursery where I knew he would be.

“Zack.” I said.

“What?” He snapped.

“I’m sorry.” I sighed. He stood there silent for a minute and then sighed.

“It’s alright. I’m sorry too. I should’ve called.”

Notes

I've officially already written four chapters into the sequel. However, since this story is coming to a close, I would appreciate a little bit more feedback. I have my regular comment, but I just need to know if this story is even worth my time anymore... I hope you guys understand.

When I entered the new story on the website it has the area asking if it is a sequel and to what story. I clicked the story and when it was saved and everything it just showed up on the page. I hope I helped.
